Romayne Davis

In an email from her son, I learned that Mrs. Davis passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in 2006.  He said that she often spoke with great affection of her time at Garden Grove High.  Please share your memories of her as responses to this post - her family will enjoy reading them.

Super memories of Ms. Davis and her love for the arts when she directed the Junior/Senior play in which I performed called "You Can't Take it With You." She made it a fun, learning experience; an outstanding teacher.

Mrs. Davis was truly inspirational. She made us feel talented and special. Through her, I developed a love for theater that lives on today as I teach theatre arts to my own students. She has been my role model during all my years of teaching. My memories of her are packed with joy and celebration. Years after GGHS, I met up with her in Fallbrook where she was involved in community theatre. I saw that same exuberance as she worked with youth. She will live on in my heart forever.

I am so sadded to her of Romayne's passing. She was another mother to me in high school and she knew that. She saved my life! Through her love and encouragement I found a home in the Theatre and then in music. I will never forget what this one women did for me out of the love of teaching others. She was the teaching professions finest! I went on to be a professional singer/musician and now run my own business. Thank you Romayne..."I Will Always Love You"! Penny Hanold

Ms. Davis was by far my favorite teacher and 4 years of Drama Class with her kept her memory alive with me to this day. I sincerely regret to hear today that such a wonderful, caring and encouraging person is no longer with us.
I guess the good Lord had something he wanted produced and Ms. Davis was the Director He picked.
My sympathy and prayers go out to her family. She was a second Mother to me and always had a way to make me feel better about myself. She was loved by so many.

Romayne Davis was a very special person. My high school years would never have been as rich without her. Ironically, she was a very good friend of my father in law, Billy Jones, when they went to high school in Santa Ana together in the 40's. She will be missed!

I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Davis' passing. She was an inspiration to many of us.
When I came back from Viet Nam I visited Mrs. Davis. I was wondering what to do with my life. She pointed me in the right direction. I went to college and became a high school drama teacher. Thank you for making my life.

I have such fond memories of Mrs. Davis.  The 4 years of drama that I had with her and Mr. Hoganson were absolutely the highlight of high school for me.  I still have the musical figurine that she gave me for being her student director for one of our plays.  Rest on Mrs. Davis!

Mrs. Davis, I owe far more to you than I could ever repay.  You were such an inspiration to me during an initially difficult and confusing time in my life.  And throughout four years of Drama under your exemplary teaching and guidance, I turned my life around and developed the confidence and determination necessary to succeed on stage and later, in my professional career.  You provided me with timely direction, Mrs. Davis.  And for that, you will always have my eternal gratitude.  Rest in peace.
