Danny is survived by his sisters, Barbara Ayala (husband Jack McGraw) of Stanton, Lisa Maccabe (husband Dean) of North Tustin and youngest sister, Cristi Castellanos of Garden Grove. He was a fun and loving uncle to Caitlin, Sydney and Liam. Though I'm obviously quite late, I just learned this sad news, today. I first met Danny in NE Garden Grove Little League where he and I competed in the majors division in 1968. Danny was one of the three best pitchers in the league and had an unhittable fastball. He struck me out literally every time I faced him. And yet, he was always humble and congratulatory post game, win or lose. Alas, his team didn't lose much.
In high school, he and I didn't really hang out much, as I was shy and somewhat introverted. But because of his infectiously positive personality, Danny was deservedly one of the more popular students. Regardless, he was always very nice to me.
I am deeply saddened for his family's loss.
RIP, Danny. You were truly one of the good guys.
