There will be a reception immediately following the burial at the Humble Civic Center located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble, Texas 77338. A BBQ lunch will be served.
As most of you know, Robert was very proud of his great granddaughter and her work with foster children. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Kirstyn’s Krew in honor of Robert is requested. Donations can be made on-line at www.kirstynskrew.org or mailed to P. O. Box 192, Tomball, Texas 77377.
The family requests that if you have a “hot rod”, please join us in the procession for RP’s last ride. #hotrodsinheaven

Sue  Lucas (Varga) #3285...Thank you for posting that.   I tried to do it yesterday on both of my computers and I couldn't get in on either one....I don't know what the problem was.   It was the very thing I was trying to post on here also. ...

No Linda #3283...no relation to Dovie Drake at all.   My married name is Drake, and I married a guy from Tennessee while still in Houston...and we live in Tennessee...still here and still married......52 years.

Louis #3284...It is really nice to wake up to those temps...and being dry too!   I so remember when I lived  in Houston  (we didn't have A/C) and I would wake up with wet hair and PJ's from the humidity....hated it.   I like having all 4 seasons...  Hope you are doing well, I posted to you just yesterday  I think it was .. asking about your health.

Take care.

Hi Sherri -

So nice of you to post here so that some of us can somewhat keep up to date with what is happening.

Apparently I don't know how to navigate on these posts  anymore since nobody ever replies to them.

Hope Louis got the get well card I mailed him and that he has recovered and doing well.

I sure do miss those good Tenn. tomatoes this year ...... oh well guess that crop failed like the Fairfield peaches.

Later thanks again, Magpie

I'm confused about the announced passing of Robert Philpot.  The statement was made that he went by another name, Robert Alewine.  Evidently, Philpot was his middle name.  However, I knew of a Robert Alewine, but he was only a year behind me.  Therefore he would have been in the class of 1961.  This isn't making sense because the database has Robert Philpot listed as Class of 1964.   Are we talking about the same person?

08/01/17 06:49 PM #3277

Lucille Burns (Moss) (1961)

Robert Alewine was of class 1961.  Robert dieds 2016 in Lower Lake, California with a memorial service at Metcalf Funeral Directors in Conroe, TX No cemetery was listed.  Hope this clears up some of the confussion.

Sherri Cosgrove (Drake) (1964)

Hi again Magdelyne...#3291...I was going to add this on to my other post but figured I would just start a new one.    so, here goes...

If you will scroll thru some of these posts...you could ask Louis if he got your card...once you find a post that he made.. (then just scroll dopwn to the bottom of the page like I said earlier and make your post.....and just ask him on whatever he had posted.  When you are finished posting to him just click on Submit. ... See, I am not so smart here...there is probably a better way but this is all I know.

I have never been accused of being S-M-A-R-T.    hahahaa.

We didn't have any good tomatoes this year either.   Ben has quit putting in a garden...this year.   last year was his last.   since he had the aortic valve replacement he doiesn't need to be out there in that heat wearing himself out working a garden....and half the time we either didn't get enough water, or too much...and all that hard work was ruined....so we can just go to the farmer's  market and get whatever we might want or need.

No more news up this way....same ole same ole.   ;)  Holler when you get a chance.   if I haven't helped you...call my cell, and I will try to talk you thru posting one.   LY.

One last detail on the two Roberts. After Robert Philot father died in 1955, his mother married the father of Robert Alewine in 1956. That is how the ALEWINE name came to be connected with both families.

I've never thought about it before, but now I realize that this may happen a lot more often than we think.  It's probably not uncommon that remarriage produces a blended family in which two of the children have the same first name.  That certainly can cause some confusion, especially if the second father formally adopts the previous children of his spouse or somehow insists that the children carry his surname.  It's a little different from George Foreman's family in which he purposely named all his own sons the same--George.  Or perhaps you remember the Bob Newhart TV show set in Vermont where the local woodsman would introduce his two brothers, "This is my brother Darrell.  And this is my other brother Darrell"--as if it were normal.

Nonetheless, I am sorry to hear of the passing of both these gentlemen and classmates.

Thanks Judy Maxwell for posting the beautiful piano rendition of our alma mater.  My class of 1959 started SHHS in January, 1956, when the school opened. I remember the day the entire student body was ushered to the auditorium where Louise Adams introduced us to the school song that she had written. The tune has stuck with me all these years and brings back many wonderful memories of being at Sam Houston. Next June it will have been 59 years sines our Class of '59 graduated. Time flies by way too quickly!

TO ALL OF OUR ALUMNI THAT DON'T THINK THEY WOULD LIKE REUNIONS,  YOU WOULD BE VERY SURPRISED AT HOW EASY IT IS TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS.  IT WILL PUT A BIG SMILE ON YOUR FACE.   YOU WILL SMILE EVERYTIME YOU THINK ABOUT IT IN THE FUTURE.   YOU WILL MAKE NEW OLD FRIENDS THAT YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVES.   YOU  CAN CATCH UP ON THEIR EXPERIENCES AND THEY, YOURS.  REMEMBER, WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE AROUND SOMEDAY, SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS FUN TIME AND BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW.
