Michael Houston (1964)

Art you will be missed, Art always had a gental way about himself.  We had many interesting talks with each other.  Rest in peace.

Arthur E. Beasley passed away peacefully at his home in Hermiston, Oregon on November 24, 2015 at the age of 69 years after declining health. He was born on April 22, 1946 in Greeley, Colorado to parents, Charles and Margaret Bliss Beasley. The family lived in many places when he was a young child. His grade school years were spent in Mountain Home, Idaho before moving to La Grande, Oregon. He attended junior high and high school in La Grande, Oregon, graduating from la Grande High School in 1964. Art then attended Eastern Oregon State College, graduating in 1968 with a bachelor degree in History. He enlisted in the Oregon National Guard in 1968 and served until his honorable discharge in 1974. Art moved to Pendleton, Oregon in 1972 and worked at The New York Store and Baer Mens Wear. During this time he met his future wife Gloria Green, and they were married in 1973. Art went to work at First Federal Savings and Loan in Pendleton, OR and was later transferred to Hermiston, OR as it became Western Heritage Savings and Loan. He later became a realtor before working at Pioneer Title and Escrow. Art completed his working career as a case manager for the State of Oregon for 16 years before he retired due to his health. Art was a former member and past president of the Hermiston Rotary Club. He was a man who never knew a stranger, had many-many friends, and always had a joke or trivia to share with anyone willing to listen. Art loved fishing (especially for sturgeon) and playing golf. He loved animals and cherished his little Pet Rescue puppy, Zoey.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gloria Beasley, Hermiston, OR; sisters: Martha Chandler (Al), Seedrow Wooley, WA, Helen Sloan (Don), Milton Freewater, OR; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and a great nephew.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Art’s memory to Vange John Memorial Hospice Education Fund or Pet Rescue.
