Gail Gabriel (Wilbanks)

Hi Everyone!  Just wanted to check in and wish Diane a very Happy Birthday!  I hope your day is very special. I apologize for all the birthdays I have missed, but hope they were good ones. It's a rainy day in GA, but a great day to stay in with a pot of coffee and a good book.

Gary, I hope you are feeling better.  I pray that your daughter gets good news from her biopsy, your granddaughter's reflux treatment helps and the surgeries go well.  When it rains, it pours.  Just know that your friends are thinking of you and your family.

Jim, sounds like you had a great weekend.  And I love those Uncle Remus stories, especially Brer Rabbit and the Briar Patch.  I am glad he is safely back at home in his laughing place. We just returned from a road trip to W VA, VA, KT, TN, and NC.  The leaves were beautiful in that area.  It was a great trip, we were celebrating our 25th anniversary.  Marv was sweet enough to stop at every country store and antique mall and I was happy to sit patiently through every deer and bear siting.

Gary and Jim, thanks for the encouragement for my diabetes.  So far, so good, but I am craving birthday cake icing.

Hope everyone is well.  Judy, I have been staying away from mischief and mayhem, if you can believe that.  And Don, I do not know any secrets, just lots of sweet and funny memories.

Have a good day, my friends!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DIANE!...

...from your classmate, cousin, and friend.  Hope you have a very special day!

It's good to hear from Gail again too.  Sounds like you had a wonderful 25th Anniversary!  And BTW... "sweet and funny memories" are a good thing!

Brer Jim... glad you had a nice golf trip!   Was that you who threw the hot dog at Tiger Woods on Sunday!!!???

Gary... my prayers are with you.  Keep us posted.

Connie... I'm not sure who I need to call, but I will be happy to call any of those that Gary and Diane have not yet called.

Congratulations to our Georgia Bulldogs!  Saturday night's game at Tennessee wasn't very pretty, but it was a WIN!  I believe we had four straight holding penalties in that 4th quarter and it was second down and 57 yards to go!  Wow!  BTW...   As a former student at both Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, I did enjoy watching some of last night's Monday Night football game with the up and coming, and still unbeaten Detroit Lions led by their two young stars... former Georgia Bulldog quarterback Matt Stafford throwing passes to former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket receiver Calvin Johnson. Even Dawgs and Yellow Jackets can get along if they put their mind to it!

Have a great week, mates!

Greetings and salutations one and all and a VERY HAPPY Birthday to Diane!  I hope you have a very blessed day filled with much celebration.  I've been laying low in honor of the old saying, if you don't have anything good to say, .........  Well I just got some good news.  The lump on my daughter's thyroid is benign!!!   Praise God!  She has been waiting since last Thursday to find out.  My middle son-in-law had sinus surgery this morning and is now home.  A little uncomfortable but to be expected.  My infusion last week went well and am feeling physically much better, however ...... I had an MRI some weeks back to confirm arthritis in my neck and the report contained an "incidental" finding.  Seems they saw some nodules on my remaining thyroid lobe.  My doctor is going to set up some further tests.  That might explain why my thyroid levels went haywire and I had to start synthroid.  Having been down this road before, I'm not too concerned, but just another reminder of how blessed we are to see the sun rise one more day.  I truly appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes.  I hope you all have a very blessed day.   Later.

Also, condolences to Danny on the passing of, I believe his niece, Mindy.

Gary, praises for the good report on your daughter's biopsy.   I hope your son-in-law soon recovers.   Now, we just have to get you feeling better!!!   You remain in prayers.

Don, maybe Gary can send you a list of folks to call.   I appreciate your willingness to help.

I sure am looking forward to seeing y'all.

The classes of 1969 and 1970 are having a joint reunion on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Countryside Catering in Arnoldsville.   It is scheduled to be from 5-10 p.m.   They will be eating around 6 p.m.

Sandra Brown (class of '70) has graciously invited anyone from our class that is able to, to drop by for a visit.   I am going to try to go for a while sometime after supper (it will always be "supper" to me :)  )....  Hope some of you can also.   She assured me that the dress is "casual".

Take care my friends.

Diane Harris (Moore)

Thanks everybody for the sweet birthday wishes. They meant more than you know. It was an otherwise normal day, complete with a dentist appt. Dick didn't have to travel "till Wed. so that was nice.

Gary, I agree with Connie. We want you to be completely fine, and soon.

It was great to read the notes from Gail and the others who recently checked in. This modern technology has some pitfalls, but when it comes to communication I love it. I would never have bee able to keep up with so many so easily a few years ago.

Really nice invite from Sandra that Connie wrote about in her post right before me. There were lots of good folks in the classes of 69 and 70. I hope I can drop by, too.

Love to all. Take care.

Greetings and salutations one and all.  Well, Connie, I finally got around to calling my list of classmates!  Here's the tally:  Benny - No, Steve - left message, Bobby - left message, Jesse Allen - yes, Jimmy - no answer, Dorsey - yes, David - maybe (only 850 miles away he says), Glenn - no.  I don't know if any of you noticed but Cheryl Dudley Cox has joined the website.  Welcome aboard Cheryl!   I also noticed that we just missed your birthday, (Oct 9) so Happy Belated Birthday as well.  I hope you can attend the get together at Connie's on the 23rd.  All is well at the Grice household.  Shingles and lumber arrived today and hopefully the sun will appear tomorrow so a little roofing and remodeling can commence. I hope you all have a very blessed evening.  Later.

Happy Friday!  I trust everyone is well and looking forward to a great weekend.  I just read Connie's post concerning the get together for the Classes of 1969 and 1970.   They have classcreator web sites as well and here are the respective links for your viewing pleasure.

Class of 1969

Class of 1970

And here is a little funny for your chuckling pleasure.  Later.

A man in Kentucky had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it.

Then he got back in the car to wait.

A passerby studied the scene as he drove by and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was.

The man replied, "I have a flat tire."

The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?"

The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares  in the front and flares in the back! I never did understand it either."

Happy Monday to any and all who may pass this way.  Kind of slow around here after a very busy weekend.  I ran across the linked article this morning and couldn't stop reading it.  Granted it is long and no Pulitzer prizes for literary genius but I found it very touching and vaguely familiar.  It will be very intriguing to any genealogist.   Catherine Young & Family  May also put one to wondering how you will be remembered.  I hope everyone will have a great week.  Later.

An old guy (not in the best of shape) was working out in the gym when he spotted a sweet young thing… He asked the trainer that was nearby “What machine in here should I use to impress that sweet thing over there?”

The trainer looked him up and down and said “I would try the ATM in the lobby”.

Susan Peterman (Harris)

Hi everyone,

Wishing you all well and happiness.  I was reading all of your happiness, woes, and stories and wish I could share mine with you, but many of you don't remember me or know much about me or mine, so I want at this time.

I so wish that life would have let me be around all of you so we could or would have been closer. You all have always been a big part of my life and memories.  Oh well, as they say life happens.

I will be there for the get together. That is if I can find Connie's house.  Is it the house that is next to a tall sprucy or cedar like tree? I am sure it is on the same road we went down to get to the club house when we had the reunion.  So if anyone sees a car riding up and down the street, holler at me.

I CAN HARDLY WAIT.  I so enjoyed just sitting at the reunion and watching everyone, and listening to them talk about their times.  I am sure I will have as much fun doing this again.

God bless you all and if HE is willing I will see you soon.

Susan

Susan, so glad that you will be coming on Sunday afternoon!   Yes, the house is on the road that the clubhouse is on where our reunion was.   15 Lakeshore Dr. - Crawford.

Bobby, sorry you can't come.

I am looking forward to seeing those of you that can come Sunday. ....  and we'll miss those who can't.

Take care all...

Greetings and salutations one and all!  Its good to hear from those that have been awol for a while.  I'm sorry many will miss the gathering Sunday but please drop by here from time to time and let us hear how you are doing.  Don, you obviously saw my picture on Facebook.  I'll have to post something here when everything is complete.  And no need for the sign - I have a port-a-potty in my front yard!!  along with two massive trailers, a lot of wood and shingles.  Can't wait to get through with this project!  Now, always on the lookout for items to enrich the lives of those who may pass here, if Don's sign struck a note with you, ie., you need help - the following health tip poster is for YOU! I hope you all have a very blessed day.  Later.

Diane Harris (Moore)

Why am I doing this, when I do not have time?! Because I have no self-control, that's why. Gary, your "Home Depot" sign was so funny. I guess that's what results when people are in a hurry to slap a sign together.

Connie, Dick and I are looking forward to seeing folks at your house on Sunday, too! I am going into my routine panic mode though, as I think of all I need to do before we leave tomorrow morning. I think we will be leaving in the dark, and in rain, yuck. But that will only put me more in the mood to seranade Dick for hours upon hours with every song I can think of, taking breaks only to tell him how to drive. If you catch him shooting icy glares at me Sunday, and keeping his distance, just remember it usually takes about 4 days for him to recover, at which time he starts dreading the drive back. Just kidding. We (I) have a great time!

Susan, your entry truly touched me. I hope all your plans come together so that you can be with us. I know it is no small thing to come from such a distance. We're glad you have such meaningful memories of your time with our class all those years ago. I remember sitting at one of those big tables in Mrs. Callaway's room with you. We were so young, and I'm sure much silliness was usually going on. Wish I'd been kinder to a lot of people. Anyway, we'll hopefull see you Sunday!

Everyone have a good Wednesday! We'll sure miss those who can't come on Sunday.

Hugs to the bunch.

Gary!! That is NOT the post I was talking about! I now see that it was DON who posted the Home Depot sign. Sorry, Don, for confusing you with Gary.

10/19/11 10:57 AM #2477

Gary Grice

"Sorry, Don, for confusing you with Gary."  Yeah, right Diane.  Apologize to Don.  Just because he is better looking, more talented, etc., etc.   Well I AM HONORED to be confused with such a fine upstanding individual, so thank you for the compliment!   JUST KIDDING - I just couldn't let that statement pass.  You know I love you!  Later!!!!

Donald Chandler

Now I'm totally confused.

10/19/11 04:40 PM #2479

Gary Grice

Okay, maybe not smarter.  Diane disapproves of my very helpful health tip chart but likes your Home Depot blunder - but then she always liked you best.  Ha!!! Later.

Donald Chandler

Gary, my friend... if it makes you feel any better, just check out our 1968 high school yearbook superlatives.  You will see that I was NOT the smartest, or the most talented, or the best looking... or the best anything.  I was a nerd!  And I think even the teachers liked you best.  So there!

COME ON GUYS! IT'S GETTING TO DEEP! YOU'RE BEGINNING TO SOUND

LIKE THE CREW ON THE SHOW (THE BIG BANG THEORY)!!! GREAT SHOW

TO PERK UP A BAD DAY---PLENTY OF LAUGHS!!! YOU-CAN-DO-IT!!!

LATER

10/19/11 09:27 PM #2482

Donald Chandler

And one more thing, Gary... Mom always liked you best!  LOL!  Oh, sorry folks...  I just had a flash back to my college days watching "The Smothers Brothers Show"... one of my favorite shows in my liberal days of youth.  :-)

Say, Jim... I have never seen "The Big Bang Theory" although I've seen plenty of the promos for it.  Looks like it might be a real hoot.  I just got home from church and I'm watching the World Series... I guess I can't help it since I'm a baseball fan at heart.  I'm pulling for the Texas Rangers since they've never won a World Series and the St. Louis Cardinals have won 10.  I'm just glad it's not the Phillies vs the Yankees!

Our Dawgs get this weekend off, and they probably need it.  They really haven't looked very good, even winning five in a row.  I missed the entire game with Vanderbilt Saturday night but I heard it was pretty ugly.  I was out partying late (a friends 60th birthday).  The party was fun but Liz didn't go, and it was probably a good thing... the loud Jamaican Dance Music would have driven her crazy.

Connie... we're still planning to be there Sunday.  Liz wants to come but we'll see how she feels.  She has a very busy schedule between now and then, including our family reunion in Toccoa on Saturday.  We take one day at a time.  I still plan to come even if she can't, and I look forward to seeing any of you who are there.

Enjoy the rest of your week mates.

10/20/11 10:40 AM #2483

Gary Grice

Greetings and salutations one and all!  Don, I'm starting to worry.  We are beginning to think alike.  When I wrote the comparatively incorrect "she liked you best", I was recalling the Smothers Brothers myself.  Diane hasn't responded so she and Dick must be on the road.  Either my jab was wasted or I'm gonna catch you know what on Sunday!!! I think I'll send out a reminder - just in case a plague of senior moments hit.  Your Home Depot posting must have prompted a wave of potty posting.  For instance, here's one that was made for the guy, or gal that may be hooked on sports and doesn't want to give up their seat for the periodic bathroom break.

WC armchair

I wonder if Home Depot sells these.

I know everyone immediately gravitated to the following.  I couldn't help myself - this is so funny - if you aren't that poor girl.

Sleeping lesson

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week.  Later.
