Yes, the reason I have not responded to you wise guys is because we are indeed on the road. We are somewhere near the north side of Knoxville and we are hungry. We left about 7 am in the dark and rain. it has been messy all the way. Occasionally I have been able to see a clump of trees and they appear to be at their peak of color. I am just trying to imagine a backdrop of clear blue skies.

Dick has not backhanded me yet, but we still have several more hours to go. Fortunately he is left handed, and has never perfected his right hook.
The rain has stopped, yay! Logging on brought me luck!

Oh, and to address your comments, Don, about superlatives? In my book everyone from our class was superlative, and still are!

Looking for a lunch stop with a special chair like the one in your photo, Gary....

Greetings and salutations one and all.  Diane, glad to hear you and Dick had a safe trip.  Really looking forward to seeing you both Sunday - along with everyone else also.  Pretty quiet around here this afternoon - no game tomorrow so the town is pretty deserted.  As I said before, Don's Home Depot sign must have started something as there seems to be a never ending supply of "potty" stories on the web.  Obviously it must have influenced the following.  If Home Depot can't help - try this!  Hope everyone has a very blessed weekend.  Later.

A little three year old boy, Billy, is sitting on the toilet. His mother thinks he has been in there too long, so she goes in to see what’s up. The little boy is sitting on the toilet reading a book. About every 15 seconds or so, he puts the book down, grips onto the toilet seat with his left hand and hits himself on top of his head with his right hand.

His mother says, “Billy, are you all right? You’ve been in here for a while.”

Billy says, “I’m fine, Mommy. i just haven’t gone potty’ yet.”

Mother says, “OK, you can stay here a few more minutes. but Billy, why are you hitting yourself on the head?”

Billy says, “It works for ketchup!”

Those that came were:  Tommy Adkins and Paula, Beverly Bramlett Burgess and Donnie, Sheryl Burgess Bridges and Lamar, Joy Callaway Brudon, Kathy Carter Campbell and Rabun, Donald Chandler, Janie Etheredge Harris, Danny Gabriel and Crystal, Gary Grice and Sherron, Diane Harris Moore and Dick Moore, Dennis Helmreich, Alvin Mathis and Ellen, Charles McGarity and Elaine, Connie Morgan White, Susan Peterman Harris, Judy Stewart Findley and Ed, Nancy Tucker Griffiths, Ray Wheless, Kay Wheless and Mike, Linda Wheless Young and Carl, Kathy Wheless Little and Danny.

(Please add any to this list that I may have accidentally left off)

Who would have ever thought those 40+ years ago that "Social Security" was a discussion we would be having???   In so many ways, the years have flown by.

Love you guys.   I'm so thankful for the memories of those school years, for the part of my life you have been and for the memories we continue to make!    God bless.

Greetings and salutations one and all.  GREAT get-together yesterday.  Many of you were missed - hopefully next time you can join us.  They say laughter is the best medicine and yesterday I got a double dose!  Thanks to all.  I asked several with cameras to post some pictures here on the site so I guess I'm obligated to make it feasible.  I have created a Gallery under Classmate Photos called Gatherings where any signed on member can upload photos.  We are limited in storage space.  About 25% of our allotment is currently being used with 34 photos.  I'll monitor and edit if necessary to keep us within limits.  I hope everyone has a very BLESSED week.  Later.

Thanks Don for the great photos!  Everyone, click on Classmate Photos at the top of the column to the left and then Gatherings.  Click on the first image and the photos will be displayed as a slide show - 7 seconds each - nothing to do but sit back and enjoy.  Later.

Gary, thanks for adding the photo thing, and Don, thank you so much for posting the pictures!!!  But Don, I took a picture of you with your camera - so please post it too!!!

I took some pics., but don't know how to put them on a computer.

Gary, I agree with you about the laughing!   Definitely good for the heart and soul.

love to all.

I can't even begin to tell you how great it was to see everyone yesterday. Connie, you were so generous to offer your home, and all the goodies that were brought were yummy. Nothing was as good though as just seeing the old gang. To those who could not make it, I truly missed you. Dick and I went to bed still talking about what a good time we had, and how genuinely glad everyone was to be together.

Don, thanks for those sweet pictures. We will go through ours and post as soon as we can, but it may be a few days. Dick is in Boston, and I am in Greensboro at my sister's. I had to steal away to the bedroom for a chance to log in and see the pics.

My opinion of my old friends is even more special than it was before, and that goes for the spouses, too!

Sweet dreams!

Well, mates... I need to rest... and go on a diet.

The last few days have been very busy, and I ate too much... beginning with a Dinner Theater last Thursday evening at our church.  Liz served as one of the staff workers (she took up tickets at the door and helped clean up the kitchen), and was dressed like a cowgirl in keeping with the Western Mystery Drama theme that was presented... complete with a barbecue dinner for the theater patrons.  And then Saturday, Liz and I drove to Toccoa, Georgia for a Family Reunion of the Veale & Wills Clans (my Mom's side of the family).  It was a beautiful day and we all gathered in a nice public park for a picnic.  I got to visit some cousins I haven't seen in many, many years along with a few new ones... and we all pigged out on, you guessed it, more barbecue!  After the reunion, Liz and I stopped by Toccoa Falls, a beautiful place that we had never visited, before the two hour drive home to Marietta.

All of this was a bit much for Liz and she did not make it to church with me on Sunday morning, or to our gathering of the Class of 68 in Crawford.  The great weather continued, and I too thank Connie for being a fantastic hostess and opening her doors to us once again.  It was great to see so many classmates, and the spouses and family they brought with them.  We had a great time laughing and telling old stories (and new ones) and of course, more eating.  We missed you Jim, and all of the other classmates who could not be with us.  I posted some photos here on the website, and since we are "limited in storage space", Connie, the photos you took of me with my camera ended up on the cutting room floor.  :-)  I know I didn't get photos of everyone (my apologies), and I am looking forward to more pictures from Diane & Dick and a few others I hope.  And Gary, if you need to edit my photo contribution, feel free to do so.

Have a great week mates... it was such a treat to see all of you again.  And Liz sends her love to all.  Reporting live from the city (with a country heart)... this is Don

PS:  Connie... I added one of the photos you took of me.  :-)

Hi everybody,

I loved seeing everyone.  I had such a good time, again just watching and listening to everyone. I was so blue on my way back to Atlanta to catch my flight home.  I hated to leave.  I wanted to stay so badly.

The food was good, the laughter was great, and the stories and reminicing (that's not spelled right is it) was fabulous.  It breaks my heart to think that so much time may pass before I can see anyone again.

Everybody take care, and may God bless each and everyone of you, and take you in HIS hands and protect you. Until next time - I love and miss you all.  I REALLY DO!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards and best wishes,

Susan J.

Happy Friday to all!

Susan, I'm so glad that you came and it was good to hear you had a safe trip home.   I've enjoyed reminising about seeing everyone this week!!   I do agree with Don, Diane and others that have mentioned what a good group of people were in the Class of '68. (and their spouses)    I wish we'd thought of getting a group picture.

Almost 2 years ago I began renting my parents house (where I grew up) to a couple.  They were moving, and finally got their things out of the house last week-end.    I've spent hours after work this week and my day off yesterday over there cleaning and scrubbing..    I do have a lady that wants to rent it, so that is such a blessing!!!!!!!  (I found out about this person planning to move "back home" to Crawford when I got my hair cut recently at Tommi Lynn and Linda's place.

I hopeyou all have a good w/e.   I sure hope our GA. dogs can beat those gators!

Greetings and salutations one and all and a very happy Friday!  To say it was quiet around here would be an understatement.  I stopped on the way to the office this morning and bought myself a coke to have with lunch.  After parking and walking the three blocks to the office, I realized my senior moment and had to return to the car to retrieve my coke.  It was about 8:30 as I was reluctantly returning to the office and suddenly I was reminded of the movie, "The Mouse That Roared" staring Woody Allen.  There I was walking down these deserted streets and could have conquered the city but then I remembered the outcome of that movie and felt my fate would be identical.  I received a call from Steve last evening.  He said he had been out of town and regretted missing the get-together and wanted to know when the next get-together was scheduled.  After I filled him in on everything that was said about him .......   I told him how much he was missed and invited him to the web site.  Hopefully he'll drop by and leave a note.  Construction continues on the ol' home place but at least the shingling is complete!  I think we can see a little light at the end of the tunnel.  I hope everyone has a most blessed weekend.  Later.

Good Friday morning mates!...

Connie... I too wish we had made a group photo Sunday.  I thought about that, but didn't act on the thought and I should have.  Oh well... maybe next time.

Gary... I enjoyed seeing your Mini-Cooper Sunday.  Don't forget where you parked it this morning.  :-)  And don't overdo it this weekend on the home projects.  I guess it will be a nice weekend to work outside, but I may sneak away tomorrow to go to a Sports Collectibles show in Atlanta, and then watch the DAWGS on TV tomorrow afternoon.

I guess Dick and Diane are on the way back to Ohio if they aren't already there. Have a safe trip you two. It was good to see you again.  Hope your car has dried out when you get back home.  :-)

I was up late last night (this morning) watching Game Six of the World Series... extra innings!  It was not pretty, but it was fun to watch!  Game Seven is tonight, and then no more baseball untill Spring.  :-(   Wake up, Jim... if you still taking a nap in that deerstand. Georgia Bulldog Football is back this weekend.  I must admit, I would rather beat the Gators than beat Georgia Tech.

Have a great weekend, mates!  GO DAWGS!

The Bulldog victory over Florida on Saturday was SWEET indeed!  And then Saturday night, I watched some of the Georgia Tech game on TV and saw the Yellow Jackets just wear out #5 Clemson.  I  do root for the Jackets too EXCEPT when they play our DAWGS!  Sunday morning as I crossed the parking lot at church wearing my RED sweater, I saw that one of the guys who helps direct traffic was wearing a gold and black Georgia Tech "GT" cap.  I greeted him and said, "Go Yellow Jackets!"  And he smiled and said, "Oh yeah!  Go Jackets!"  Then, a little louder I said, "And GO DAWGS!"  To which he replied, "I don't know about that now."  :-)

I see in the news that the Occupy Wall Street crowd in New York City was greeted with an early season "nor'easter" snowstorm over the weekend.  Since most of those whiners and complainers seem to have no clue as to exactly who or what they are protesting, I would imagine that some of them are now protesting "Global Warming" too.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, mates!    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg57cxweYxc

Greetings and salutations one and all - Happy Monday and Happy Halloween!  Sounds like a very satisfying weekend around the Class o'68!  I had a great weekend - saw the fourth quarter of Ga - Fla game after working in the yard 'til the sun went down.  And then Sunday morning - The Big Toy Book from Toys 'R Us arrived!  As I picked it up I was transported back in time through a memory to the arrival of the Sears and Roebuck, Wish Book!  I would spend hours gazing at each page imagining all of the things Santa would be bringing me on Christmas morning.  I would dog ear each page until it made no sense to dog ear another.  Fortunately, I have never received all I wished for, but oh what fun it is to wish.  Less any of you feel the urge go Trick or Treating this evening, here are ten signs that you are probably too old for that activity.  Here's praying that all of your "wishes" come true and you each be bless with a wonderful memory to brighten your day.  Later.

10. You get winded from knocking on the door.

9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

6. People say, "Great Keith Richards mask!" and you're not wearing a mask.

5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." and can't remember the rest.

4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

1. You avoid going to houses where your ex-wives live.

Can someone please answer a question for me?...

Why in the world would ANYONE run for elected office, especially the office of President of the United States? Your WHOLE life is put under a microscope... everything you EVER said or EVER did, or will ever say or will ever do.  And if that does not serve your enemies well, then they will make up lies about things you NEVER said or NEVER did.  The news media will fillet you like a fish, especially if you are a Conservative or a Christian.  Why would anyone put themselves or their families and friends through that?  Just askin'...

I have an opinion, if anyone is interested, but first... I welcome yours.
