Diane Harris (Moore)

Happy Birthday to those whom I have missed. Hope they were/are wonderful!

Everybody go to Connie's in October!! We'll cath you next time!

Gary, Hope your having a blast on the Savannah River. Sounds like many fun stories may be made. I'm thinking of the movie "Cape Fear", and hope that's not one of the stories.

Also, didn't figure out the "teaser", Gary. Good for you, Don. Just like in high school, you're both making me feel stupid!

My best to all. Love ya.

Diane, Diane.  That seems like an awful harsh punishment just for missing a little get together!  I've onlly been CATH'd once and admittedly I was asleep when it was inserted but wide awake for the removal! YEOWIE!!!!!  I hope you meant to type CATCH.  Sorry, but that was just too funny to let it pass.  As a reward, here's another teaser.  Hope everyone is having a very blessed week and don't worry, we will arrange to have someone qualified to cath any tardy members.  Later.

If u can read this3

Diane Harris (Moore)

HA HA HA!!   Gary, I DID mean to say "catch", but I'll bet if our classmates thought they'd get to see me "cath" somebody, there would be a great turnout! Any volunteers?

Yes, your last teaser was better. After thinking I had become dyslexic, my brain did figure it out finally. Thanks, I needed that.

I am gone. I had a terrible sinus episode over the weekend, and though pretty much back to normal, my head starts to feel like a pillow is stuffed inside at night.

Again, everybody go to Connie's in October!

Greetings and salutations one and all and Happy Saturday!  I guess everyone is getting geared up for the big game this afternoon (except Don who is still recovering from the Braves' loss last evening).  Looks like it might  be a rainy, rainy couple of days in Georgia and thus my "cruise" has been cancelled.  High profile boats don't handle well in stormy weather and what's the point if you can't see anything due to fog and rain.  I was really excited about getting underway, but maybe someday.  Now I have a week with nothing planned.  Maybe I'll work on increasing my lifespan as suggested in the following headline.  I have a feeling that Sherron would insure that mine was shortened if I put that study to the test.  Who comes up with these stupid studies anyway?  I have a feeling that us "millionaires and billionaires" are paying for it.  See I didn't know I fit into that category until PBO said he was going to increase their taxes and now I hear that my taxes are going up so I MUST be part of that group.  I mean, a president wouldn't lie!!!  I hope all my fellow "millionaire and billionaire" pals out there have a very blessed weekend.  Later.

I found this pic of Gary with some of his buddies.  Here's a toast to COMMUNICATION...  Have a good weekend, mates!

And a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JOY and NANCY!

Gary Grice

Been a rough week

Greetings and salutations one and all and Happy (early) Birthday to Joy and Nancy!  And Don, that picture of me and my friends would be a lot funnier if it wasn't so true!  Well as I mentioned last week, I had a trip down river planned that was postponed due to weather.  The weather looked like it was getting better so the trip was back on for departing Wednesday.  I was excited again!  MONDAY MORINIING, I woke up with a toothache.  Spent Monday afternoon in the dentist chair having a cracked tooth repaired and hearing a lot of - "I hope we got it before it abscessed!" comments.  Tuesday and Wednesday spent hugging the recliner with an ice pack on my jaw. Had to back out of the trip at the last minute due to concerns that my renegade tooth might go bad quick and lack of dental care along the Savannah river.  All was not lost.  After debating and evaluating a still swollen jaw Thurday morning, Sherron and I decided to go to our daughter's lake house for the day.  After lunch, I set up a chaise on the deck and next thing I know, I'm waking up to a nice autum breeze blowing across the water.  Hope my snoring didn't disturb the neighbors.  I pray you all have a very Blessed weekend.  Later.

10/05/12 02:48 PM #2816

Diane Harris (Moore)

Poor Gary, sorry about that tooth. Hope it's OK. You must not have been staring at enough you know what's. Hope you enjoy those lake breezes. I love them, too. Sorry you missed the boat, but hopefully there will be another time.

After losing the list of the people I was supposed to call about class news, I finally fessed up to Connie and she gave the list to me again. Really, I am typically very responsible, but I had a momentary lapse. Anyway, I called Susan Peterman Harris, and as always, it was a pleasure to speak with her. She would love to come, but is not sure yet. It's a ways from Texas, you know. She always has the kindest things to say about our class. We love you, too, Susan.

Left a message for Danny, and I hope he gets it. Spoke with Judy, and she hopes she can swing by. Teresa Burt said she'd love to, but has several other commitments that day, so isn't sure. By the way, Teresa is doing great following her very complex back surgery at Emory. Yay, Teresa! Yay, God!! Our Kathy Carter Campbell is having back surgery on the 9th in SC, so Kathy, you know we're praying for you, sweetie.

Dick and I leave tomorrow for 2 weeks in CO. Next week we play with the grandkids, and the second week he works in Boulder, CO on a a project they just picked up. I will probably go up for a few days and explore Boulder, since I haven't been there before.

Hope everyone has a good and safe weekend. And last, but not least, Happy Birthday to 2 very sweet people, Nancy and Joy, who will celebrate tomorrow. Hugs to both of you!

Greetings and salutations.  Just wanted to check in and wish Dale and Cheryl a Very Happy Birthday! Kinda slow around here - thank goodness!  Just doing some small jobs around the house that needed to get done before winter sets in.  I received an email whose context I guess I should pass along in the interest of fair play.  Would you believe - blond guy jokes!  Since none of us guys are still blond, I suppose no one can take offense.  Any who, I hope you are all having a very blessed week.  Later.

A friend told the blond man: "Christmas is on a Friday this year."

The blond man then said, "Let's hope it's not the 13th."

------------------------------------

Two blond men find three grenades, and they decide to take them to a police station.

One asked: "What if one explodes before we get there?"

The other says: "We'll lie and say we only found two."

------------------------------------

A woman phoned her blonde neighbor man and said: "Close your curtains the next time you & your wife are having sex. The whole street was watching and laughing at you yesterday."

To which the blonde man replied: "Well the joke's on all of you because I wasn't even at home yesterday."

------------------------------------

A blonde man is in the bathroom and his wife shouts: "Did you find the shampoo?"

He answers, "Yes, but I'm not sure what to do... it's for dry hair, and I've just wet mine."

------------------------------

A blonde man goes to the vet with his goldfish. "I think it's got epilepsy," he tells the vet.

The vet takes a look and says, "It seems calm enough to me."

The blonde man says, "Wait, I haven't taken it out of the bowl yet."

------------------------------------

A blond man spies a letter lying on his doormat.

It says on the envelope "DO NOT BEND ".

He spends the next 2 hours trying to figure out how to pick it up.

------------------------------------

A blond man shouts frantically into the phone "My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart!"

"Is this her first child?" asks the Doctor.

"No!" he shouts, "this is her husband!"

------------------------------------

A blonde man was driving home, drunk as a skunk. Suddenly he has to swerve to avoid a tree, then another, then another.

A cop car pulls him over, so he tells the cop about all the trees in the road.

The cop says, "That's your air freshener swinging about!"

------------------------------------

A blonde man's dog goes missing and he is frantic.

His wife says "Why don't you put an ad in the paper?"

He does, but two weeks later the dog is still missing.

"What did you put in the paper?" his wife asks.

"Here boy!" he replies.

------------------------------------

A blond man is in jail. Guard looks in his cell and sees him hanging by his feet.

"Just WHAT are you doing?" he asks.

"Hanging myself," the blond replies.

"It should be around your neck" says the guard.

"I tried that," he replies, "but then I couldn't breathe."

------------------------------------

(This one actually makes sense.)

An Italian tourist asks a blonde man: "Why do Scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"

To which the blonde man replies: "If they fell forward, they'd still be in the boat."

Greetings and salutations one and all and a special Happy, Happy Birthday to Diane!  I know you are having a great day out in Colorado with the Grand Kids!  This has been a peculiar week. Spending most of it by myself as grandma is dealing with sick kids and grandkids.  Yesterday I had a meeting in the morning and then we planned to head up to Helen for a late lunch.  Trying to help sick kids turned that into an early dinner by the river and a beautiful afternoon ride.  Stopped off to visit Sherron's aunt and uncle and didn't get home until about 8:30.  We are know as "those wild young folk who are never home" in our neighborhood.  Sherron is off to a field trip with two grandkids and I'm about to commence my errands.  I hope you all have a very blessed week.  Just want to leave you with another bit of wisdom, especially for those getting a little older today.  Later.

Hello friends!

I sure hope that you are planning to come to our get-together this Sunday!!!  We will just be sitting outside if weather permits.  I am looking so forward to seeing you!!!! and we will certainly miss those who can not be here!

Next spring, 2013 will be the 45th. anniversary of our high school graduation.  We need to decide if we want to plan anything special, or just a time to gather and visit ~~~ and share memories ~~~  and share laughter.

My OCHS years were such an important time in life.    Now that we have joined the ranks of the "getting older" crowd, I find that friends and memories of special times in my life even more dear!!!   So glad to be able to spend a Sunday afternoon with many of those friends.

love y'all,

connie

Good Morning Mates<

It"s been a couple of weeks since I was last here. Sorry if I"ve

missed anything important. Just to much going on I guess.

Diane, I'm very sorry I missed your Birthday Party. I sincerely hope

Dick took your somewhere Nice. And I hope it was a great day for you.

I had the chance, or rather I had  to attend the Farm Expo in Moultrie,

Georgia. If you have never been to a farm show you should make the

trip next year. They have any and everything relating to farming. I

mean $1,000,000.  pieces of farm equipment. To all sorts of animals.

It is really a treat to go and see everything. It happens every year normally

the third week in Oct.

Well, the past couple of weeks at least gave us football fans a chance

to take stock and ponder this Georgia Team. It is truly amazing to me

how this team one minute could beat any team out there. And the very

next week look like a bunch of frighten puppies running across the field.

Man--- it's enough to make a preacher loss his religion. Maybe, the

real Georgia BULLDOGS will show up in Kentucky this week. We

can always hope.

Later Mates,

God sure blessed us with a beautiful day yesterday!!!   As always, it was wonderful to see old friends, talk, laugh (and eat)!!!

Those who were here:  Tommy and Paula Adkins, Donnie and Beverly Bramlett  Burgess, Jesse Allen and Carol Bray, Liz (Pee Wee)  Brooks Fountain, Lamar and Sheryl Burgess Bridges, Joy Callaway Brudon, Ross and Pam Mathis Dudley, Steve Eberhardt, Gary and Sherron Grice, David and Linda Landers, Ed and Judy Stewart  Findley, Nancy Tucker Griffiths, Mike and Kay Wheless Smith, Ray Wheless, Kathy Wheless Little, Carl and Linda Wheless Young,  Connie Morgan White.

Ray brought a "happy birthday" cake (since most of us turned 62 this year).   It also said "welcome AARP and welcome Social Security"               Several of us are enjoying retirment a lot ---  and several of us are still working.

Pee-Wee brought Bella - the adorable little dog that had belonged to Inez.

David and Linda Landers have been in Georgia with Steve Eberhardt.   They will be moving to Crawford in the next couple of weeks, so we'll look forward to seeing them more often.

We sure missed those that were not here!!!!   This seems to be the time in our lives with staying busy with family, health issues and just "life"...

Other news that was shared:                                                                                                                                                   Diane and Dick couldn't come, but sent good wishes and love... they have a beautiful new grandbaby...   a little boy :)                                                                                                                                                                                      Teresa Burt Colwell and Kathy Carter Campbell have both recently had back surgery and are recovering.   Teresa had called and left a message that she is doing well and wished she could be here.                                                                                                                                                                                      Jane Griffith Foster recently had surgery - we all pray for a quick and complete recovery for her.                                                                                                                                                                                           Jim Willis couldn't come because of an illness in the family.                                                                                           Gail Gabriel Wilbanks has been in California visiting son, Jeremy and his family.

I appreciate all the folks that did the calling about the gathering.   If you did not get a call or message about it, please let me know so that we can be sure we have your correct phone #.   Don Chandler - we know we don't have your correct number -  Ross tried to call you multiple times.

Don, as always,, there were several comments on that great banner you did for us.

My love to y'all.......and once again I have to say how thankful I am to have been a part of the OCHS class of '68!        I know that not everyone has the memories of high school that include fun times and dear friends that we were blessed  with.

10/23/12 01:39 PM #2826

Diane Harris (Moore)

Connie, thank you for the report from the gathering at your house on Sunday. Though we weren't there, reading all the names of those who were made me think of them, and I imagined myself there visiting with everyone. Hopefully next time we can make it. I wish I could've petted little Bella. I can't help but  think that some of Inez still lingers around her little dog. Pee Wee, what a great thing that you have her. That would make Inez so happy.

Jimmy, thanks for your birthday wishes. Dick did take me somewhere nice. He took me to Colorado to see our grandkids there. We had a good time, and just got home Friday night. Then on Sat. our son and his wife from Rockford, IL had their first child. He was born in Minnesota. It's a long story, but the bottom line is that, after a rocky start little Michael Harris Moore is doing well. They hope to be back in their home in IL soon. We will be visiting there as soon as they are settled, probably this weekend or the next. It's a blessing all the way around.

Jane, I hope and pray you will soon be fully recovered from your surgery. Kathy and Teresa, y'all too. Remember when surgery was something "other people" had? More and more we are becoming those "others". Thank goodness for it though, as it helps keep us up and at 'em.

David and Linda Landers, back in the OC! How great!! However, this does make Dick and me look really bad. Where the heck we'll end up one day is anybody's guess. Part of me wants to go HOME, but part wants to be close to our kids (who live in 2 different states), and part of me wants to stay put here, where we have grown comfortable and have all our junk.

Just wanted to say "hi". Am loving this fall weather, and wish the trees could stay pretty longer. They are at peak here, but a  rain of leaves fall with every breeze.

Take care my friends.

.... and a good time was had by all!  As much as those present enjoyed last Sunday's get together, we missed those who couldn't be with us.  If you weren't there, your ears had to be burning.  Laughter is the best medicine and I think everyone present got a good dose.  It was great fun sharing our lots in life as many begin another transition.  Ray's cake was a hit.  We were entertained and enlightened by Donnie Burgess (Beverely's husband) about the details of being a funeral director and licensed embalmer.  It was one of those "everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask" discussions.  So how did such a discussion come about you might ask.  Well, it started when a beautiful young woman began prodding Donnie about the cost of being buried.  You really had to be there!

We also began discussions of a 45th reunion, in 2013!  Yes, it will be 45 years!  If you have some ideas or want to volunteer to head up a committee, share that information here - please.

We all want to thank Connie for being such a superb hostess!  I suggest we boycott any future assemblies there unless and until she allows others to help out.  She goes way above and beyond to see we all have a good time.

Sherron and I are off for the next couple of days to do view the trees.  I hope you all have a very blessed week.  Later.

Love the picture Don!   Way to go Georgia Bulldogs!!!!!!!   what a great win over Florida!

Gary, how was the recent trip?   Good that you went on to see the leaves, because after this wind, I'm not sure how many will be left on the trees!

Diane, I sure hope your new baby is doing well.   Will you get to see him soon?

At our recent gathering, Jesse Allen did suggest an idea for our 45th. reunion:   An old fashioned "sock hop"..

I have not seen any activity at David and Linda Landers new house in Crawford, so not sure how their move is coming along.

Have a good week and take care friends!

Too funny Diane.   This morning when I heard election results and talk about Ohio, I immediately thought of you and wanted to write to  you to "get out of there!"....

Honey, you're welcomed to come HOME to Oglethorpe County any time you can!!!!!!!!

I have been heavy-hearted and so, so sad today............

Greetings and salutations one and all and happy Thursday.  Also, Happy belated Birthday to Benny.  I trust you had a very joyous day of celebrating.  Diane, Diane, Diane.  You are forgiven.  You may come home now.  I'm afraid there's not much we Christian, conservative, common sense folks with a little education can do. I've read all the pundits' comments about how Mitt could have won if he had only catered to this group or that ideology but I'm afraid there's just no appealing to stupid.  All is well here at the Grice household except I'm awake and up way too early.  Our daughter is recovering nicely from her surgery and received a very good pathology report - no cancer cells detected.  That was a concern and a very long story as to why.  Our next to the youngest grand daughter turned three yesterday and had a Princess Birthday Party last Saturday.  A good time was had by all. I guess we are preparing to settle in for the Winter here in Jefferson and making plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I will have my wish list posted very soon.  I hope you all have a very blessed rest of the week.  Later.
