I'm so sorry to hear about Herman. I just did a search for his obituary but nothing yet. Anyone please post if you have information.
Got you and Kathy down for YOUR PLACE NEXT WEEKEND! Just kidding - thanks for responding.
Okay Chicken Little!! Remember, let not your heart be troubled. Later.

I hate to interrupt your Classic City girl watching Gary, but I’m on your side… as they say, it doesn’t hurt to look at the travel brochures, even if you know ya ain’t goin’ there. I may be a bit older but I’m not dead yet. I think the ladies do their share of lookin’ too, even though they may not admit it.

It is a Chamber of Commerce sort of day here in Metro Atlanta too. Sunny in the 70’s. Our camellias and other creations of God are startin’ to bust out all over! And by the way, Jim… I was tempted to play hooky this afternoon and watch the Braves play the Phillies on ESPN. Last report I had was the Braves were pounding them 8-0. McCann had two homers and Hudson pitched six innings, giving up only three hits! Go Braves!

Liz got a great report back from her colonoscopy. The doctor says she has a “young colon”… about 25 years old! That’s certainly great news, but the problem is, she has a 65-year old knee, a 75-year old bladder, and an 85-year old back. Parts is parts.

I assure you Gary that I’m not a threat to your “joke of the day” duties. However, being a history buff and a political junkie, I just had to share the following joke that I received from a friend by e-mail:

OBAMA AT THE PEARLY GATES - When Obama died, George Washington met him at the Pearly Gates. He slapped him across the face and yelled, "How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive?" Patrick Henry approached, punched Obama in the nose and shouted, "You wanted to end our liberties but you failed." James Madison followed, kicked him in the groin and said, "This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!" Thomas Jefferson was next, beat Obama with a long cane and snarled, "It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence." The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans unleashed their anger on the radical, socialist leader. As Obama lay bleeding and in pain, an Angel appeared. Obama wept and said, "This is not what you promised me." The Angel replied, "I told you there would be 72 VIRGINIANS waiting for you in Heaven. What did you think I said?"

72 VIRGINIANS!!! I love it! Now that's funny!
Well it looks like rain later today here in the classic city - splish splash. I've got to travel up to Gainesville later today so I hope it doesn't get too bad. At the risk of a patent infringement (where is Dennis?) Life is Good! I'll catch you all on the flip side. Later.

I have had the first, and worst, cold this week than I have had in years. I have serious catching up to do on our site here in order to read who said what. A quick scan shows me that some sweet, familiar names such as Beverly have appeared. I'll have to go back and read. I see that Herman Thomas passed away, and was very sorry to hear that. I remember him very, very well.

Gary, your Whistler's Mother caught my eye. Where on earth do you find those things? I can't wait for Dick to see what a real sextegenarian looks like.

Don, I suspected that Liz had a pretty colon, because I could tell when I met her she was as pretty inside as outside.

Must schlep back to my Klenex covered couch.

Gary Grice

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. Remember for a cold, if you take something you can get over it in 7 days. If you don't take anything, it can drag on for a week!
I found that picture while looking for some old family photos to post. You see I come from a pretty loose ancestry. They started to make a movie about my family(s) but it would have required too many extras. It was going to be entitled, "Wild Roots". I'm composed of so many nationalities, I consider myself a "*-American" or is that an "All-American". Any who, I've really enjoyed that picture!
Most of us have now made it to FRIDAY!!! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - and I'm stuck here in the office. Well, at least I have a job, at least I have a job, at least I have a job - I have to keep telling myself that!
I'll have to find a special joke just for Diane to make her feel better. Everyone else, you're on your on - TO HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!! Later.

What a beautiful Saturday here in the city! I just sort of ventured out and about... with a visit to some interesting shops... including my favorite bookstore, a sports collectibles shop, and a comic book store. No, I don't collect comics... and boy have they changed since I was a kid and read Superman, Batman, the Flash, Spiderman and Green Lantern... and Roy Rogers too. And they're four bucks now instead of a dime. The shop owner told me the first edition of "Superman" is now valued at over a million dollars. I did not buy it (he didn't have it), but I did buy one comic book today... one about Sarah Palin.

Connie... the Bradford Pears are beautiful here in Metro Atlanta! They look like they are covered with snow. I can't wait for the Dogwoods and Azalias.

Cousin Diane... hope you are feeling better. Liz and I both thank you for the kind words.

Have any of you seen "Sherlock Holmes", the movie? Liz and I went to see it last night. I enjoyed it more than Liz did, but I'm more of an action/mystery kind than she is. It was full of action and very intriguing, and just a bit on the dark side... but good entertainment. It was sort of a "Masterpiece Mystery" on steroids. After the movie we went to a buffet where I ate too much... everything from prime rib to frog legs. Ribbit.

And, finally... I share the following "political commentary"... with apologies to Dr. Seuss:

"I do not like it Uncle Sam, I do not like it Sam I am. I do not like these dirty crooks. I do not like how they cook books. I do not like when Congress steals, I do not like their secret deals. I do not like this Speaker Nan, I do not like this "YES WE CAN". I do not like this kind of hope, I do not like it nope! nope! nope!... If you don’t like this gov’ment bloat, then pray to God, and people: VOTE!!!"

HAPPY MONDAY!! What a GREAT weekend! Boy did I have FUN! Don't believe it? Check out this link - Hank Parker . I started by attending a BBQ dinner - DELICIOUS! The cook was Mr. Courtney Elder from Watkinsville. Many of you have probably seen his truck around north Georgia - "Best Butts in town". I went out back of the church and got a personal tour of his cooking/smoking machine. The dinner was followed up by a performance by Mr. Lee Merriwether, a pastor and sort of Jerry Clower wannabe. He uses his humor to spread the Gospel. Then we had a talk and testimony by Hank Parker. If he is ever within your earshot, GO LISTEN! Well worth the trip. There was one man there who came all the way from Kentucky to hear Hank.
Saturday morning I went to my brother's house and staked off the corners of his property and did a little clean up while waiting for someone that wanted to see the house. They arrive about 10:00 and seemed to love the place. Appears to have all the potential they are seeking.
Back home for a date with my oldest daughter. Its been a while (a month) since I've seen her and her kids. They arrived about 2:00 and she, her husband and kids took me to Hodgeson's for ice cream and then Memorial Park just to enjoy them and the weather. A couple of quick stops at stores and then home where I thought Sherron was getting ready to go out to dinner. The first clue that something else was going on was the large number of cars lining the street - and then friends and family holding up letters across the front porch spelling "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". I was really surprised! I'm still recovering.
Well, I need to get ready for a big meeting this afternoon and then start preparing for our anniversary trip this coming weekend. I hope you all have a BLESSED WEEK and this evening, a HAPPY PASSOVER! Later.

Don, loved your poem, and I think Dr. Suess would be honored!

Gary, so glad you had such a wonderful weekend! Can't think of anything nicer than being thrown a surprise party by your family and friends. When I first read it I thought, "Oh, no, why didn't I know it was Gary's birthday?". Then I saw that they just got the jump on the big day. That's the best way to surprise you. What a sweet thing to do.

I feel better, thankfully. Still have a sore throat, but I go to the doctor Wed. for a regular yearly physical, so it'll be good for him to have something to actually look at when I stick out my tongue and go "ahhh".

Better go. I am just on a temporary break from household drudgery.

Oh, the latest thing I have done to make Dick roll his eyes and say "why me, Lord?" is that I washed my cell phone in the washing machine last week. This was a much more hygienic way to destroy it than dropping it in the commode as happened the last two times. What have I finally learned? No matter how much I don't want to miss a call from my kids, don't carry my phone in my pocket or bra. Plus, check all pockets twice before doing laundry.

The end.

Happy Birthday to you, Teresa, up there in the mountains.

And a Happy BirthWEEK to Gary. Sounds like you are having a great time celebrating the big six-oh. I enjoyed the photos from the Hank Parker Fisherman's Meeting/Barbecue/dinner... especially those photos of you doing your imitation of a large mouthed bass. Oh, I'm sorry... I guess you were just laughing. Never mind. And hope you and Sherron have a great trip to round out your birthweek.

And here's praying that everyone has a blessed Easter too. See ya down the road.

A large mouth WHAT? Oh, I missed the "B". Yeah, having a great week! Great weather - so top down and off for a fun ride in the mountains. Last year this time we headed to Pigeon Forge - and had to leave a day early due to snow. Thank God for Global Warming - that won't be the case this year. Looking forward to a little peace and quiet. I hope they have a hammock under a shade tree or maybe a fishing pole with no hook. I'm pullling outta the fast lane (quickly) and barrelling down the road less traveled. If I get lost or something happens to the bread crumbs I'm leaving along the way (Ha!), I will catch you - Later!

A HOLY DAY - In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days... The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays…” The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do… Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists." The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fool’s Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!

Greetings, Mates.

It's a bit quiet around here with Gary out of town celebrating the fact that he will be a sexagenarian tomorrow. It's an epidemic, folks! Best wishes and/or sympathies to Gary.

In today's mail, I received a very cordial letter from my Congressman, Republican Tom Price, in response to my letter on the Health Care bill. I do not expect such a cordial response from the 31 Democrats I wrote. By the way... did you folks see the news report of Democrat Congressman Hank Johnson from Georgia who was testifying in a Congressional hearing and expressed his concern that 8,000 military personel added to the population of Guam might "tip over and capsize" the island!!! Say what???!!! Is it any wonder that this country is on the road to destruction with people like this leading the way? God help us.

On a brighter note, Liz will be singing with our church choir tonight for our Good Friday Service and then for two services on Easter Sunday when they will present a music/drama production called "Seismos". I will be taking photos for both Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We pray that all of you and your family and friends will have a Blessed Easter. HE IS RISEN!

Say Jim... you've been kinda quiet here lately. You doing ok? Monday is OPENING DAY!

Reporting live from sunny and beautiful Marietta... this is Don.
