It has been 60 years since high school so trying to summarize what has happened in my life can only be answered with a question, how much do you really want to know? Seriously. A few things I haven’t done: Sailed around the world in a one man boat, won a lottery, Driven in NASCAR (although there were several times in the ’60’s,‘70’s and ‘80’s when highway patrolmen asked me if I did), run for office (but given current conditions I'd consider it), been bitten by a shark, or told a lie (yeh right!). I was not the Jim Skinner who was CEO of McDonald's. I did manage to get out of Avondale alive! Should I get another tattoo?

School Story:

Remember when guilt actually worked. One night after a ball game we (can't remember who I was with) stole the hubcaps (remember those cool flippers) off of Eddy Morgan's car as a joke. We felt so guilty we actually went back and put them on the car. Bet you never knew that Eddy.

A letter to my classmates...

Just looked at the date and unfortunately I have a conflict i can't change that evening. Thanks again to Grace and Jim for the get together at their place. BTW The helmet is a KASK not a casket.

Last I heard tom is alive and well living (I think) in the Phoenix area.  And much thanks for doing the work to update the status of our classmates!  The head stone is his oldest (I think) brother.  His brother David Serviss is 2 years older than Tom and I think still alive as well.

From East KC (a.k.a. Lee's Summit) I remain among the living. Jim

Actually, although not really a Hippie I certainly align more with that thinking than with the current MAGA mindset. My dog barks at the UPS guy so I don't have (or need) an AR-15. No promises but I think I'm set to retire (from my job) this December. Items on the bucket list is getting closer to completed. Thanks for all the updates. Glad I'm still not on the "rememberance" list.

We pre-Boomers are literally a dying breed. I would hope we go out with a reputation for caring about the future of mankind instead of simply promoting antiquated social and political ideals.

Tom was a real character.  He used to kid me because he had my dad in one of his classes when he started at NKC.  Sadly I did not match up to my dad's math skills.

Really hoping we have an event in the spring. In the meantime I'll try to keep from doing anything too dangerous.

I am deeply sadden at the death of Ron Capps.  I did not know he was dealing with cancer but did see his photo on face book and became concerned. Ron and I go back to Kindergarten.  He was the best of friends thru high school and some of college.  We played on the Avondale Little League baseball team that his dad coached.  After we both experienced less than stellar scholastic success at MU we attended what was at the time Kansas City Metro JC. That December, 1962, we drove my VW Bug to Miami for the Orange Bowl.  We met up with a bunch of track jocks from O.U. (who was playing) and the rest, as they say, is history. Great memories!

Sadly, Jim Skinner

I just saw the post on Catherine Crowe....i can only say that she was one of those people I wished I had known.. I remember, as Gary said that she was extremely intelligent. Certainly way above my scholastic/intellectual level. Reading her bio reminded me once more of all the classmates that enriched the world with their presence. Aloha

I looked a lot like this pre-high school and if you look at me in the cycling helmet I'm an older and hopefully wiser Alfred. Wait a minute, did I say wiser? Hmmmmmmm.

I did Ragbrai again in 2012, riding 109 miles on a day it was 109F. The thing sticking out of my helmet is a "fountain" as the team I ride on is the Fountain Heads. Absolutely NO relationship to Ayn Rand.
