Feeling overwhelmed with the outpouring of love!  The reunion far exceed my expectations, which were already quite high. The entire weekend was magical. Seeing and experiencing the reuniting of old friends was extraordinary. How quickly we reconnected, and in many cases on a profound level. What was proven over and over, is that we are who we are, and have not fundamentally changed in the most important ways. We are all so fortunate to have been part of such an amazing class.

BIG THANKS to the Reunion Crew!  Extra special thanks to Les and Donna, who were there with me every step of the way. Les kept us sane with his off the wall sense of humor, while being our perfect "Money Man", and Donna took on all kinds of crazy tasks...coming through on each and every one!

Love to all,

Terry (Tee)

As I just posted on Facebook, the Reunion '13 was a landmark event in my life.  I did not expect the level of camaraderie I pleasantly experienced.  Casual acquaintances from 1963 became earnest listeners and it was apparent that everyone was truly interested in the lives and experiences of each other.  My expectations were that I would melt into the background and observe what time had wrought.  Well, that didn't happen.  I felt involved and saw interest in the faces of all I came in contact with.  I thoroughly enjoyed every event as well as the many ad hoc discussion groups around the hotel.  Again, as i posted, the organizing committee deserves a statue in their honor.  The weekend was full and seamless.  The impact on my life will be long lasting and welcome.  To the committee, all the volunteer help and our illustrious webmaster, kudos.  I am in awe.

Absolutely WONDERFUL! Driving down the coast and ferrying accross the sound, I had NO idea what to expect... but Good Lord, it was Fantastic! I really knew so few individuals during our school years, and felt I was meeting you all now for the first time! I LOVED it! So many of you remembered me and told stories of my antics. Apparently, I was a real rascal! You're all a terrific bunch, and I couldn't have had a better time. Having one last coffee with Brian Moriarty and Sylvia at the Best Western on Monday morning... I felt genuinly sad that all the "birds" had pretty much flown away. Rockville Center and Oceanside seemed rather empty after that... though I continued to visit, schmooze and socialize with friends still there untill Tuesday. Oh, if it all could have lasted longer! Can't help but ponder how many of us will be left in another 10 years. Shall we now make plans to do it again?!! I'm already planning to go back to the island very shortly. There's much still to do for this old Yankee. Stay well everyone, and keep smiling. Margot, I'll be sending you your NH air and some Maple Syrup next week. Kisses to you and to all the girls. Booga Booga to you, Miss Terry! ... XXX  (Yankeetrader@metrocast.net)

I did not finish with the class but I still felt part of the group and had many life memories of those years on LONG ISLAND . Thanks for inviting  my wife and myself to the reunion,  I think she had an even better time visiting  with classmates and there spouses , especialy hearing of our past escapades !  I wish I could have met more mates who were there so next time I hope to see all who attend and write down theIr names so I remember who I met. What can I say To Terry other than a big Hug and THANKS for reaching out to us all.  Roger you are a classic in your own time , what a life you have led,  and Joan hope to see you soon. Every one else it was great and what an IN SPIRIT class of characters we all are. Thanks to all who attended and put on the show. Feeling very Blessed  for the short time we had in a great town . See you all again for 60th . Brian & Sylvia Moriarty.

The memories of that night will be imprinted in my heart forever!  The thrill of seeing classmates from 50 years ago was awesome.  The committee made it all happen, and I wished that time stood still for that night.smiley

Lindy and I had a ball! Thanks to everyone on the committee for the hard work that brought us all together again, and thanks to all of you who attended as well.

The event met and far exceeded any modest expectations I had.  Like many, I wondered what getting together fifty years on might mean. If anything, it was better than I remembered my years at school to be. The common experiences of our class, even if shared at great distance and with significant seperation, made friendships long forgotten vital and important again, and just as importanly, forged new ones where only acquaintance existed in my memory.   Of course, it was all about the people, and what a great bunch of people it was!  If the chance to bring us together again comes up, we'll be there!

Waiting another fifty years is clearly not an option.

Our 50th Reunion was just wonderful.  The  planning committee did a great job bringing it all together.  It was so much fun to reconnect with old friends.  We definitely had a lot of fun learning and doing all those extracaricular activities. It was a trip down memory lane--even swung by my old neighborhood, where I lived until I got married!   My best to everyone for a healthy, happy future.

Sounds like I missed a great event. Jeff Coopersmith, who I've been friends with for 50 years was there and told me how wonderful the event was.

Just thought I would mention that my novel Red Chrysanthemum - A Novel of Occupied Japan has recently been launched. It takes place in Tokyo in 1945, when many of us were born. There's not too much fiction around with a backdrop of the Occupation and it's a subject that deserves the telling. Hope you'll take a look, particularly if you enjoy historical fiction and mysteries

Best to all -- Henry

I, too, wish I could have made the reunion. I was visiting Oceansider, Penny Haagensen, '63, on her farm in upstate NY, who I have known since Junior High. She is fighting cancer and we are hoping for remission.

Today, November 9, 2013, I leave for India to photograph the Pushlkar Camel Fair in Rajasthan. This is just one of the many events on my bucket list  I hope to document before I die.

I'm still on my horsefarm in Cary, NC, but soon I will have to decide to succumb to the developers who want my land for more subdivisions. My plan is to move out further into the countryside of central NC and continue my nature photography hobby. You can follow me on Facebook and see my photography. https://www.facebook.com/melissa.theil

Best regards,

Melissa Hutchinson Theil

Deb Vosk (Roberge)

I regret this post has taken me so long to get up here--SO overdue! I just want everyone to know how thrilled and grateful I am to have visited with all of you in September and even MORE delighted that I was able to join so many of you on the dance floor to "cut up a rug" or two~ With on-going spinal challenges and a number of medical "road-blocks" I wasn't sure my body would allow me to accomplish this--but I did!!! Terry and Les worked so hard to make this special weekend the success it turned out to be and with the help of the Support Crew, was nothing short of outstanding!!!

Happy to say I made it through the awesome weekend and events, for just a week or so after I returned home, my spine gave out and I lost my footing preparing dinner one evening.  The fall I took was a doozy and I broke my right femur no. Now future spinal surgery is on hold and I have a long road ahead of me as I heal from this unexpected event. I am still so grateful for being able to enjoy the reunion as much as I did and participate in all the festivities!! Bless every one of you for making it one of the most memorable weekends of my life!! We have quite an amazing class and I am so proud to be a part of the group!!

They tell me I have a long recovery period and from what I've experienced so far, I must agree.  I will say this though......I WILL get on the tennis court again...this I know for sure! wink Even my surgeon told me I can't be tied down and I will be on the court again, even if I have to wait a number of months.  Stay well and be safe my Sailors!!!!!

Until we meet again heart Deb

Wow! I had a great time reconnecting with the few friends I knew from going to OHS for only 2 and a half years. Missed some of those I knew who could not make it! I hope to download  a few pictures I took when I find my camera. All of this spurs me on to try and find some of those few friends  who were not found.

Many thanks to the  wonderful organizers,  I know how much work it was and I truly appreciated all you did. This was my first reunion. I volunteer to help for the 60th!

Love to all. Roberta (Schreiber) Dunn
