Bill (Guy) Tarr attended the University of Omaha, then the University of Missouri at Columbia.  During the late 1960's, Bill served in the Navy as a Medical Corpsman, and was stationed at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, New York.

During the 1970's, Bill lived several places, and started using his original middle name, Guy, as his given name.  He was known by Guy until he died.  For a while, Guy moved back to his home state of Texas, living in Austin.  (He was originally from Texas City, an oil town near Galveston.)  During a cross-country motorcycle trip that extended into Canada, Guy met a girl (Lynne) from Toronto, and eventually married her.  They lived in Winlaw, British Columbia, and had one daughter.

In 2009, Guy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.  He gradually deteriorated and spent the next two years in treatment.  Guy finally died in January 2011.
