Hi Classmates,

I hope you are all having a safe Labor Day weekend and having lots of fun.

My hopes are still to come down in October for a visit with Lorene, and maybe we can cook up a day at the beach for all of us.

Howdy Everybody!

It's getting a bit sparse on the message forum. Phyllis and I have an idea. Try to develop the positive habit of contacting a classmate once every two weeks (twice a month). Or put up a message on the forum. Just a little something about what's going on in your life.

I'm pretty good about writing to people. Ever since we were teenagers, I write family and friends whenever I went on a trip. Post cards mainly. Even during my hitch-hiking trips on the Northern Coast. Bill Osborn gave me the idea of hopping freight trains for a free, long ride. As I've grown older, I find that I have more time to write (e-mail) friends and enjoy it more. We'll be watching a movie and I'm in my chair typing away and Rosa will look over and ask, "What the heck are you doing?" "E-mailing friends".
Lynn, Pat, Phyllis, Lorene, Don, Carol, Patricia, Peggy, Marsha, Marcia, Gloria, Raymond, and Molly you've been great at it, keep it up. I've starting writing to classmates that I didn't know very well and now wish that I had know them better. Now I do!
We'll Carlos went back up to Davis and Erika will leave on Thursday (mild depression for me for a week). I'll go up and spend a few days with them in October (I persevere the 6 1/2 drive). I got a new job as an Educational Consultant. The US Defense Department is providing the funding so that the Team that I'm on can develop and implement programs within schools that will help students go into Math and the Sciences. It's part of our National Defense plan.
Well, hope to hear from some of you.
One message every two weeks will keep us moving forward. Plan to keep it going for the next 30 years (we'll be about 90 at that time). Set your goals high.
Sincerely,

Mark

Hi Mark, and the rest of the classmates:

So great to hear the good news about your new job Mark, it sounds like something you will be very good at.

I agree with you, we all need to stay in touch in some way or another. I've been blessed to be in touch with you, Gary,Lorene,Maurene,Molly,Phyllis,Carol,Dorothy, and today Billie sent me an email all the way from FL. (lol)
I know emails travel fast.

I've hesitated writing much on the forum due to the circumstances in my life at the time, it all seems so negative. Losing a parent a little bit more each and every day wears you down. Everyone tells me I need to take care of myself, it's just not possible for me to be that way. She needs me now more than ever, and so does my dad. They were the best parents in the world so it is now my time to be there for them.

I do hope it won't be another 30 years before I get to see all of you again, gosh I can't even imagine being 90 and trying to look good to impress everyone. LOL there's just no way to make those kinds of wrinkles go away....

Everyone take care and be happy, I promise I will try harder.

Love you all my pirate friends.
Lynne

Mark,
Congrats on the new job - that is just wonderful. You are so right we do need to stay in touch with the fellow classmates - I think the pass 2 years it has brought many of us together that had lost touch for so many years. One of the treasures was that I had lost touch with Billie and was able to see her after 40 years - we missed so much and are still catching up. I have so enjoyed hearing from you and so many of the other classmates - we are really blessed that this forum was put together so that we can all share what is going on.

Take care and have fun on your visit to see the kids.

Peggy

Mark, I agree, this forum is such a wonderful tool to keep us in touch with each other. I enjoy reading forum messages from my fellow Pirates and will make more of an effort to post on the message forum even if it's just a line or two. Congrats on your new job... sounds like a wonderful opportunity to make a difference with young people.

Lynne thanks for sending me the email about 9/11 emergency personnel who died in the line of duty and how important it is to honor their memory appropriately. I sent a letter to Mayor Bloomberg yesterday and shared my thoughts on the subject and I hope other classmates will do the same. I'm sorry to hear your mom isn't doing well these days... I'll keep her in my prayers.

Peggy it's been wonderful to reconnect with you as well. It's such fun catching up on 40 years of memories. I've enjoyed reconnecting with so many of our classmates with the help of this forum, our 40 year reunion and Pirate Vegas party. It's been an unexpected blessing to reconnect with so many classmates and share fond memories and life stories.

Mirtha your Hawaii vacation sounds wonderful -- now that's a birthday present to remember!

Kind regards and heartfelt blessings to all.

Billie

Mirtha Camacho (Rayburn)

Aloha and Mahlo to all fo the birthday greetings and kind wishes. I am back from having spent by Bday on Oahu's North Shore, spent most of the time in Haleiwa. Enjoyed some good food and company, even had some burgers at Kua'aina the sandwich shop that is owned by Sarah Libbey's (Debbie Taylor's cousin) family. Reminisced about the good old days when my brother's had the Pink Cadillac in Waikiki and I had the opportunity of working there. Amazed at all the great shopping there is in Waikiki, if only one had the money some of the tourists seem to have.

I'm back at work, my fellow southern CA pirates, and just in time to prepare for a TEMPTATION/FOUR TOPS show on Fri Sep 25th at 7:15pm. If any one is interested in attending please let me know and maybe we can get another group gathering. There is no charge for the tickets, I just need to make certain that I have enough vouchers.

LOL to all and Happy Birthday to all the Virgos.

Congrats on your job Mark, you will be great at it. Kids are your priority.

I too enjoy this forum and now that we have so many on facebook as well we are keeping in touch. The little get togethers at peoples homes are tops. Steve and I had a great time at Linda's BBQ. The pow wows after the eats are so much fun. We find out what people have been doing and have conversations with people we knew but didn't KNOW in school.

What a wonderful way to spend your birthday Mirtha. I'm so glad it was a good one.

Who would have thought 40 + years ago that we would be chatting with so many of our classmates, some on a daily basis on a computer. My mother only kept in contact with one of her classmates. How sad.

Keep in touch.

Pat
