Mark, Did you happen to be in Sunset Beach today and perhaps stopped into a little crafts boutique on PCH? A little birdie told me that a really cute-virile guy was at Betty Murillo's (nee Kraft) boutique today with the name of Mark L. Overstreet. She wasn't sure if it was you or not because he just couldn't have been pushing 60, he was so young looking.

Pat ---- I'm on the phone with Betty now -- she said you have a quite a way with words.

P.S. Mark - if that was you, what did you think of the studio and why didn't you say hello to Betty?

Marianna Brown (Schechter)

Hey Peggy...
Thank you! What a nice thing to say about my son...lol. Kris really is a lot of fun. Jenny is in Port Angeles, WA for a two week rotation. She will be done with her residency this spring. They are looking into moving to the Washington or Oregon coast.
You must be excited about your company this weekend....hum? Do you think Phillip will be able to move here soon?
I am beginning to hate this work schedule that I have. I had a 50 hours week last week. There never seems to be time to visit. We last played pinochle...what, 6 weeks ago? We haven't met up with the Vegas group since last June. I did talk with Fred the other night on my way to work...he loves his new condo.
Don't forget that Stan and I leave for Duluth, Minnesota next week. It is going to be so good seeing Kris and Jenny again. I hope that the fall colors will still be out.
My friend...someday we will get together!

Hey Marianna,

Enjoy your vacation and the special time you'll have with those beautiful grandchildren --I know how much it means to you to see them again.

I know how proud you must be of your daughter-in-law finishing her medical residency --that is such an accomplishment (it's always nice to have a doctor in the family lol). I'll keep my fingers crossed they end up moving closer to you.

I know how busy you've been working those long hours but it was good to chat with you a month or so ago when you were leaving work. I'm glad you're going on vacation --you and Stan deserve some much needed rest!

Take care and be safe, Billie

Marianna,
You know how I feel about Kris, we had so much fun at your wedding he is just so much fun to be around. That would be great if the kids get to move to the west coast so much closer.
We are leaving to pick up Phil & Deanna shortly, he called and said the plane was running late. We hope they will be able to move at some point just not sure when yet.
Can't believe your trip to Duluth is around the corner, how exciting. Yes, our card games have been put off too long - lets make it soon.

Peg

Mirtha Camacho (Rayburn)

Got up early, on a weekend morning to be the first to wish my baby girl, Kalim, a happy birthday on facebook. But darn, some of her friends beat me to it.

So,I'd like to take this opportunity to say "Happy Birthday" to all our October bithday classmates. May your special day be filled with joy.

Have a great weekend everyone. and hope to see some of you soon at one of our local gatherings. Don, Linda, Donna and I have been talking about a few things we could do as a group. As Don and Pat mentioned, we may be revisiting PHS for the game, and afterwards a local restaurant like SuperMex or Gaminos. Linda, since she has some clout with the school board, may be able to reserve a section for us, and maybe she will again have one of the guys go down on the field to check out the new track and field. What ever we do, it will be memorable and fun because we are doing it as the proud. PHS, Class of 68 Pirates, and we are keeping it together. or at least we are trying.

Mark Overstreet

Hi Marcia, and everyone,

I really wanted to go to the Class of "69" reunion but came down with the stomach flu at about 2 o'clock this morning. This type of flu really knocks me off my feet.

I remembered that you posted Betty's Art's and Craft shop some time ago. I thought that it would be nice just to buy something without her knowing that you mentioned the store. I bought a beautifully framed photo of surfboards. It'll look good in my den or bedroom (matches the decor). I'll stop by again, when I go body boarding at Seal Beach and tell her that I know you. I do remember Betty. I would go to your house and she'd be there (9th grade), plus the drill teams used to come to the Tastee Freeze for ice-cream. I'm glad that she is doing well. I would not have recognized her after all these year though. How'd you know?

Talk to you all soon, I have to run to the bathroom, again!!

Mark

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Hey Mark,
I sure hope you are feeling better by the time this note gets to you.

I hope we hear about the Class of 69 reunion soon, and maybe even some photos.

Things are windy and cold here in Idaho. Went up to the lake house today with the boys and their wives, got all the furniture put away, jet ski out of the water and all that kind of stuff. Now it's just wait until summer again, hopefull I will be able to host that Idaho mimi reunion next summer.

Take care Pirates that's all the news from Idaho.

Mark ----

Thanks so much for stopping by Betty's store --- she really appreciated it. She noticed your name when she was going through her receipts at the end of the day and wondered if it was you or just someone with the same name.

Thanks again. Hope you are feeling better...

Marcia

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Just got this email from Rama, Don Hodges wife. Let's all wish Don well with lots of prayers for him and a speedy recovery.

Lorene

Dear family and friends,

Just an update to let you know Don's carotid artery surgery has been scheduled for Friday, October 16th, 9:00AM at UCI Medical Center. His physician is Dr. John Lane who is an excellent vascular surgeon. Don will have the plaque removed from his left carotid artery and then will be admitted to ICU for approximately 24 hours. The next day he will be moved to the surgical floor and if all is well - allowed to go home the following day.

Please send a special prayer and thought his way during this time.

Don is sure he will be able to squeeze in some extra golf games before he has to return to work!

Love,

Rama

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

First off, Don you are in my thoughts and prayers!!! I know you will kick this thing right in the butt and be good as new in no time. Hang in there.

On a more positive note for once in the forum, on my part!
Yesterday while grocery shopping, I came across these two gals who you could tell were partners and I made a kind gesture to them in the store to just be friendly.
No big deal at all.

However, as I was going out to my car to put my stuff in the car I heard a voice from across the parking lot, "hey nice lady" and turned around to see the same gal I had spoke to in the store.
She ask me what my license plates stood for? (They are 911SONS, I had them prior to 9-11.) I told her I had sons that were in fireman/paramedic and police officer. Before I knew it this gal had me in a bear hug just holding onto me and thanking me and telling me to tell my boys how much they were appreciated especially in today's world. Then she started crying and saying you tell them WE WILL NEVER FORGET! So as many of you can understand as you know me so well, she had me in tears by then. It was a pretty amazing moment in the parking lot of the super market.
Thought I would just share that happy moment with you, since I don't seem to have many of those these days.

Love to you all.

Billie Hundley (Linnane-Miller)

Lorene thanks for sharing the information about our fellow Pirate Don.

Don and Rama you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Classmates please keep my precious granddaughter, Katie, in your prayers this Friday, October 9th. Katie was born with fetal gallstones and she will undergo major surgery this Friday at Wolfson Children's Hospital to remove her gallbladder. Katie will be one year old tomorrow and we celebrated her birthday last Saturday, I've posted a few pictures from her birthday party on my PHS profile today.

Thanking you in advance for remembering Katie in prayer as your feet hit the floor this Friday morning!

Kind regards to all,

Billie

Connie Lenkoski (Nelson)

Hi Billy
God is a very mighty man. My youngest Daughter was born with no intestine and the doctors made a large intestin out of the little one. She should have not really have been born, they said she would only live to be 9years old. Then when she had to have more surgery at the age of 18 I took her back to children hospital in LA and the doctors didn't know what to do because they never saw a child with total Hurespring Dis live is long. I Bright her back to Chicago and the Doctors in the Navy hospital did her surgery at 15,and 18. She is now 39years old. God has showed me the way. God will show you and your family the way. You have many more loving years with your granddaughter. My Prays are with you.
My oldest Daughter is back in the hospital.I guess she is in so many times I just don't say much. I have 17 more working days and I can finally stay home.

Don my prayers are with you also.

Connie.

10/07/09 10:09 AM #2710

Billie Hundley (Linnane-Miller)

Thanks Connie. Once Katie has her little gallbladder removed she will be 100% healthy without further medical intervention or treatment --we are thankful she won't have any ill effects from this surgery.

I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is in the hospital again, she has had such a rough time lately. I agree with you, God can do anything and He certainly has worked Miracles for you and your children. Your daughter has amazing will-power and I know she will be out of the hospital soon and enjoying life at home with family and friends. I will keep her in my prayers.

Stay strong Connie and take care.

Billie

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Billie, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family with regards to your little Katie. I know that there will be an angel with your granddaughter during her surgery. I truly believe that.

Connie, my goodness the things that you have endured with your children. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family. Be strong and keep your faith.

Lynne, my dear friend - As always you are in my mind. I know the things that you embrace on a daily basis is a very difficult one. Rest asurred that you are always in my thoughts, my prayers.

Roland goes back to the knee surgeon today and his regular doctor tomorrow. Fender Musical Instruments is so nice, they sent him a (registered, certified) letter knowing that he is on state medical disability, that he needs to return to work on Monday or forfeit his job. They said that they could not hold his job. It's not like they don't have maintenance workers, they have 5 more besides Roland. Wonderful huh! We will get through this. The main thing is that Roland is taken care of, his health and well being is more important than the job.

Don, I'll be thinking of you during your surgery next week. Hang in there. Remember all the good times we had in our neighborhood as kids, with the Zinns, Millers, Pebbles and Dunapace. I certainly do.

Oh yes, by the way, my sister Irene went to her class reunion in Cypress, she said that she had a wonderful time. Hi Mollie, hi Jan, hi Betty and Stephannie. Yeah she told me that she saw you guys.

Mirtha, thank you. I am sorry I was not able to make it as I had promised my mom to take her to play Bingo. Now she would not let anything interfere with her Bingo. It is put on by the Corona Kiwanias. They do so many wonderful things for kids in Corona and Norco. All proceeds go to the schools. They have these Bingos quarterly and the next one is December 5 at Citrus Hills Intermediate School in Corona if anyone is interested. They have $$$ for Bingos and raffle tickets for prizes. I could not believe it. I won a Bingo and split it with mom, my mom won four raffle prizes and I won 3 raffle prizes. To see her face light up with excitment, is so worth anything and everthing to me. Knowing that I can put a ray of sunshine her way - truly amazing. That is what love is all about.

I am sure that all us Pirates will send special thoughts and prayers to all our Pirates who might be going through some difficult times with parents, children and grandchildren and other family issues. Please take one moment of your day to send good thoughts, prayers to all our classmates.

Just thought of a nice Pirate gathering! Would anyone be interested in seeing the lights and animated characters at the Mission Inn, if you have not seen them, it is a must see during the holidays. We could get a group together for dinner at the Spaghetti Factory and then journey over to the Mission Inn. They have vendors too; carriage rides around the Mission Inn. Anyone interested? This event starts Thanksgiving weekend all the way through Christmas. If there is anyone interested let me know.

Love to all,

Lorene

Billie Hundley (Linnane-Miller)

Lorene thanks so much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers for Katie.

I'm sorry to hear your husband is still having medical problems as well. You are so right, it just seems to be a difficult time for many Pirates and their families lately --like all things in life we'll find a way to work through them!

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers for good health, peace and happiness.

Billie

I am so ashamed. I just don't get on the forum enough. My heart goes out to Don & Rama, Roland & Lorene, Billie, Lynne and Connie.

I guess I am very lucky. Unemployment (sitting on my butt in front of this computer) is nothing compared to what you are enduring.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

In memory of anyone who has lost their pet.

I have a beautiful picture that goes with this saying and can make a nice print for someone if they have a special pet they lost. Let me know. lorenetwin1@att.net, I will send it to you with your pet's name.

Just this side of Heaven is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Marcia Kraft (Barringer)

Lorene ---

Thanks for "The Rainbow Bridge." I have shared this poem with several friends in the past. We had to have our sweet Roxy (Pat, she was sweet, wasn't she?) put to sleep about six weeks ago. It's so very, very hard but worth all the years of unconditional love our pets give us. It's still hard even to type the words.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your family members who are going through difficult times right now.

On a lighter note, I'm off to Laughlin tomorrow to meet up with Pat Bowen and Linda Bolton. They make me an "honorary" Red Hatter one weekend a year and we have such a good time.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend.
