Marsha Miller (Jaehnig)

I just got this off Face Book about Mrs. Mary Lash celebrating 60 years of teaching.

**Please join PHS in celebrating Mrs. Lash's 60th year teaching. She opened up Paramount High School back in 1953 but had taught before that at Clearwater Jr. High School which is now called "Paramount High West Campus".

If any of you are in the area please try and attend. Even if you cannot attend, we are sure she would love to hear from you. Please send any stories and fond memories to Mrs.T
ms.t@gmail.com

The district is catering the event and they need a head count by THIS FRIDAY!!!!
Mrs. T and Mr. Cole (the art teacher) are working on a memory book for her. They would like former students' memories of Mrs. Lash. Photo's of themselves with Mrs. Lash would be great (Corsaire Pics too).

This Celebration Dinner is NEXT Thursday in the Paramount High School Gym @ 4pm. RSVP are very low, so please help in spreading the word to other PIRATES.

Please - please email Mrs. T stories for the Memory book and try to include a photo of yourself.... maybe a pic of you NOW and Then to help jog her memory.

Thanks Everyone and I hope to see you next Thursday!

I never had Mrs. Lash. But about 15 years ago I bought a cookbook of accummulated recipes from different school's econ teachers. Mrs. Lash was the editor. I was really surprised that she was still alive much well still teaching.

Thanks for posting this Marsha.

Greetings Classmates,

It's raining in So. Cal, and the holiday spirit is definately in gear as of this week end!

A few of the Paramount Pirate wenches went for a holiday gondola ride thru Naples Island. Oddly enough as we were recalling some of our found high school memories, Sarah Alcaraz, mentiioned Mrs. Lash and the fashion show she was in.

Would like to thank our classmates, Don, Geneva, Cecelia, Donna and Dee for "representing" at my family annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade party. We loudly cheered on Ofelia's husband Ernie as he rode down 2nd St in his classic truck. Ernie acknowleded us by reving up his engine. Incidently Don, your soup was a hit!

Looking forward to our next local classmate gathering, which will be for Donna's Huntington Harbor boat parade. Wish it weren't do difficult to get a larger number of classmates together so that we can continue to getting to know each other.

Take care everyone,

I saw Mrs. Lash 6 years ago at the Off Street Cafe in Cerritos. I walked up to her and ask if she was Mrs. Lash sure enough she was. She told me she is still teaching at the time and it was her 53rd year....from what i understand she IS still teaching.....she must be ancient....

Hey, how was the boat parade? I couldn't go because I attended Marcia Kraft's family Christmas party. Too bad too, it was just down the highway in Sunset Beach.

Well, we just returned from a "soggy" weekend in So Cal but still had a great time. I taught a class at my sister's art studio. It went well and everyone was very happy with the results. My husband visited with some PHS buddies he hadn't seen in 40 years. Our family's early Christmas celebration was on Saturday and was lots and lots of fun. Pat B. is like family and I'm so glad she was there. Lots of laughs during the "Gift Game." Let's just say the "Snuggie" was not the gift of choice. It's always nice to come home though.

The bost parade was fun. Not as wet in Huntington Beach as it was here in Placentia. We did get some about halfway thru the parade but based on the soaking we got at home it was manageable.

Thank you, Donna, for hosting this evening of good food and good company.

I got some pictures that I hope to have on our picasa site today. Reachable thru my profile.

And on another note: THANK YOU MIRTHA!!!!!

My Most Memoriable Christmas...Let me set the stage for you....Christmas Eve 1955....dusk..you know, that special time of day that is sliding towards night, when everything seems magical. I hear sleigh bells ringing. My grandfather says, "I bet it's that ol' son-of-a-gun..you know..the one with the red suit on." I open the door and to my surprise...a shiny new Schwin, just the right size. For years I believed, and honestly, I still do. Merry Christmas to all Pirates and their families.

Great story Sandy. Does anyone else have a memorable Christmas story they'd like to share?

12/18/09 07:32 PM #2826

Mark Overstreet

Sandy,
That was a great way to get us started again!

My wife, Rosa, had her third grade class perform for the Holiday Program on Wed. One of the classes sang the song, "All I Want for Christmas is a Hippopotamus". What a cute, cute song. It sounds like a 1930's song. First time that I heard it.
Now I can't get it out off my mind.

I've got some wonderful Christmas memories. I'll add those at another time, it'll make me get back on here.

May you all have a wonderful and joyous holiday season.

Mark

I hate to be the bearer of sad news but I just got off the phone with one of our class mates Vivian Grinder and she had gotten a call from Beckie Williams (Griese) husband Bob, Beckie passed away early Tuesday morning of a heart attack. They had just moved to Kansas and been there for only 7 weeks. I don't have a address where we could send cards but I will call Vivian back later on this week and see if she was able to get one.

PIRATE CLASSMATES:

I know it's Christmas time, and many people are strapped for cash. However, I was thinking if we all sent $2 each to anyone who might want to take care of ordering a nice floral arrangement for our classmate Becki, with a banner stating something like 'With Love your Paramount Pirate Classmates." I am sure it would really touch her husband and family.

What do the rest of you think?

Lynne

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

I am so sorry to hear about Becki Williams. It is hard to believe.

Everyone take one moment in silence to think of Becki, her family in prayer.

I was logging on to wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your families, treasure the moments, and make memories.

Peace to all!

Love Lorene

Marianna Brown (Schechter)

I didn't know Becki very well in school but I did get to know her here in Las Vegas. She really was a very sweet lady that loved her family very much. I will be going to the open house. I will get in touch with Peggy and see if she will be going. Anything that the classmates would like me to do...I am more than willing. I am so shocked and saddened by this. Becki was a loved member of our 'Vegas Group'...she will be missed.

12/22/09 02:46 PM #2836

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

I will be attending on Jan. 2nd. Becki was a very sweet lady and will be missed.
Marianna - let me know what time you want to go.

12/22/09 08:36 PM #2837

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Oh my gosh....this is most upsetting to hear about Becky Williams....got to know her thru the 40th reunion...nice girl....she will be missed....I will be willing to send money also for flowers...Marianna can you take care of that for me and i will pay u back when i see u in a few weeks...will be keeping Bob in my thoughts and prayers....this past year has been a difficult year for the pirates and their families....my heart goes out to you all...

12/22/09 10:46 PM #2838

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Marianna,
I know I started this thing with the money deal, I hope you or Peggy don't mind. It just seems it would be easier for all of us to send the money to you there in Las Vegas and you can represent all of us that care and feel so horrible for Bob. Please just let us know and send us an address and we can start sending.
Love
Lynne

Let's all hope and pray for a Healthy New Year for our Pirates.

12/22/09 11:29 PM #2839

Marianna, looks as if you've been snookered into handling the flowers. I'll send you money directly too.
