Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Welcome Aboard Charles,

Gosh do I remember you?  I had the biggest crush on you and we spent hours on the phone all of the time, and then I believe you moved to Placerville.  So good to see you on our PHS site.

Hope to hear from you sometime soon.

Lynne Scales-Thurman

We're not going to make the Vegas Party this year.  Too many things we gotta spend money on.  If there's one next year we'll really try to make it.  And we WILL attend the 45th reunion whereever it is (well, within reason).

We're interested in any local gatherings.

Don,

Sorry you and Geneva won't be able to make it.  We'll be thinking of you.  Because the the 45th is right aound the corner we won't be doing a Vegas event next year.   Can't wait to hear where our 45th will be.   Take care amd thank you for getting back to me.

Good to hear from Charles. I sent him a personal message.  We were in the same 2nd grade classroom together. Then on the football team at Alondra, he played first string, I warmed the bench.   I do remember when Jack and Gary went up to visit him. He taught Jack the slang saying,  "That's a cold shot."  Jack kept saying that for weeks. I wondered what had become of Charles.

I look forward to seeing you all in June.  Not much going on with us.  I've been substituting for Rosa's class so she and our daughter could take a trip to Mexico City. Last month I substituted and caught a bad case of the flu that turned into walking pneumonia that lasted for weeks. I'm up and running again!

Hope all is well.

Mark O.

Ok this is weird!

I wrote a long message to Phyllis thanking her for the birthday wishes, 3 posts were added, I tried to delete two of them, two remained so I wrote a post. Then I look back and they were all deleted hum.

Phyllis,

I wanted to thank you for the birthday wishes. Maurene and I celebrated our birthday as we celebrated with my daughter April's baby shower at my house. We truly had an amazing time. Thank goodness I bought lots of extra food, as my house was over flowing with people. We are all truly excited as we wait the anticpated arrival of two new babies in our family. My niece Kelly is also expecting  a child, both girls are two weeks apart, both expecting their first child, with both being girls.

I can't wait to hold little Abbey in my arms. Nothing more precious than grandchildren.

I am sorry I have not posted on facebook in awhile. I look at it often, but quickley to keep updated. I have been busy working and making by granddaughter's bedding for her bed. Now my daughter decided to have the bedding in black and white zebra print with hot pink. So I was busy tracking down material, the minky dot soft and the zebra soft and zebra duck material. It is all completed. I will post pictures when we have it in place in the baby's room. Still waiting on the furniture to arrive. Who knows the baby will be here before the furniture. The furniture was ordered in January.

Love to all, take care!

Lorene

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since I've posted anything. But I wanted to check in to let Lynn, and the rest of you, know that we are ok in Hawaii. The tsunami, I'm pleased to say, was pretty much a non-event here. No loss of life, although there was some damage at some of the small craft marinas and to some of the small boats moored in the marinas. All good news, assuming you didn't own a boat that was damaged, because there sure was a lot of drama and concern with what was likely to happen after seeing all of the carnage in japan on tv. The poor people in the hardest hit areas of japan didn't stand a chance. We were all thinking of higher ground during the three hours advance warning that we had before it was expected to hit the islands of hawaii. Gas stations were packed with cars. As were the grocery stores with people buying as much bottled water, paper supplies and food they could get their hands on. Tempers were running at very high rpms. We had no damage though to any coastal foloks in hawaii. Lynn, what the heck is a coastal folok? You mentioned that in your message.  Apparently, you've got them in the states. Some hotels on the big island of hawaii had to close due to water damage in the lower level rooms and lobbies. I understand there's a mini reunion this June in LV. I'm sorry that I won't be able to attend. Let's just say it's not likely. But, I know it will be a great time. I'm pacing myself for the 45th reunion in 2013. I hope this finds everyone well and behaving themselves. Or maybe not behaving themselves. I'll share this story that I recently heard about an ex girlfriend of mine, broke up with her ten years ago. She was a type A and way too much maintenance. She was apparently seeing this married man...on the side. The guy tells his wife that he has to run an errand. Well, she gets suspicious and hides in the back of his range rover with a blanket over her. It turns out the guy is picking my ex-gf up at the airport. Well, when he pulls up to curbside baggage claim and opens up the rear hatch to load the luggage, out his wife jumps. I understand there was this huge scene...big surprise. I assume my ex-gf then took a cab home. But, there's more? His wife throws the guy out of the house and divorces him. You guessed it, there's still more. Yes, that's right. My ex-gf marries him less than a year later. Go figure. Wouldn't any sensible person think that if he would do it to his then wife, he is likely to do it again? I understand it has happened to him before...where he just can't seem to keep his pants zipped up and gets caught. I don't mean getting you know what caught in his zipper, like in the movie "There's Something About Mary". I suppose that's what prenups are for. In closing, I heard some poor guy in santa cruz was swept out to sea while trying to take a picture of the tsunami coming in. What was he thinking about? I've got a feeling he was posing for a picture with his wife holding the camera. And she wanted a picture of the tsunami with some comparison with how tall he was with how high the wave was. Honey, just take a step back....a bit further.....a bit more...now hold that pose....the wave is almost here.....it's getting closer......closer......it's here...omg it's HUGE.....quick, smile honey.......wow that was impressive.......I should take another picture......where did he go.....honey where are you.....I want another picture......there you are......way the heck out there and you aren't a good swimmer....this doesn't look good....sorry honey this wasn't one of my best ideas.  Aloha to all of you and the coastal foloks as well.   a hui ho....  Once again...a hui ho is not a porn star in hawaii.    Mike

This message from a pirate from another year.

It’s a surprise
Help! Looking for guys only who played football / baseball for Coach Danny Blake from 1965 – 1970.

My name is Les Gillilan, you might have known me as Glenn’s little brother back in the day.
What I’m planning for Coach Blake is to treat him to a Long Beach State baseball game at Blair Field in LB April 17th Vs Riverside at 1pm. Afterwards we’ll all head over to Cirivellos pizza in Long Beach for a meet and greet in one of their banquet rooms. So far 15 guys are on board; we need to make it more!

We’re also planning a golf outing Friday April 15th & 16th, with tee times TBA 8 days before 4/15/11 (As for golf, let me know way before 4/15)
I know a lot of you haven’t seen coach in over 40-plus years.  I run into him now and then and we’re always talking about the teams he coached throughout his Paramount days. Some good, some bad, to Coach, they were all good….
If you guys think this is something you will be interested in, please contact me by phone or e-mail. If you have pictures, stories of past run-ins with Coach Danny Blake, please bring them along.  Now will be your chance to get back at him after all these years, in a good way!

One other reminder:  all the activities that weekend or just for the day with Coach will be split among all of us who attend, to keep the cost down, which I’m sure we would all agree to.

So come out and enjoy a Sunday afternoon with one of Paramount’s greatest admired coaches, past, present or future…

Thanks,
Les

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Mike,

Great to hear from you! Glad everyone is ok in Hawaii. As always, you keep all of us laughing. Only you could come up with those stories. As I was reading your message, I was visualizing the moment and laughing. This could have been a movie.

Good to hear all is well in Hawaii. I have a neighbor who has a place in Kona, he is thinking of moving to Hawaii permanetly. Vern wants to live the remainder of his life doing what he likes best, fishing and watching the beautiful sunset. He is only a young man of 84 years.

I am on baby watch this moment, my niece and daughter are expecting their first child, both being girls within the next 3 weeks or so, if you can predict when babies are born. I am truly excited about this, and with the excitement happy for my daughter and son-in-law.

Take care everyone,

Lorene

Hey Lorene

I love the baby's nursery theme, it's so adorable. You are an amazing grandma, of course I all ready knew that. I'm sure there is nothing more exciting that seeing your own daughter become a mother, something I will never experiance but I am still a blessed grandma.

I hope Vern gets his wish to move to Kona, and that your mom gets her wish to move to your neck of the woods.

Sorry I wasn't able to call you on your birthday we had to make an emergency trip to OR as my mother in law was in ICU, she isn't doing very well but is at least out of ICU now.  We are in the process of getting her set up with Hospice.

I worked Monday and Tuesday night and today have just been hanging out at home......

I love you lots and will talk to you soon.
Lynne

Marsha,

Hope that you had a wonderful birthday! Did the family get together for your birthday?  You always seemed to be an older woman (by three days!).  Hope all is well.  What's new?  Are you going to the get together in June?

Respectfully,

Mark

Marcia Kraft (Barringer)

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  We went to Las Vegas for the weekend and Jeff met us there from Encinitas.  Had an awesome weekend.  Addison is such fun now.  We call her the "wild girl."  She really knows how to maneuver her walker and especially likes to run into the doggies!!  Watch out!!

Mark-- Happy birthday to you today!! Hope you have a great day with your family.  No, we aren't going to make it to the June reunion; have some other trips planned.  I'm looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing everyone's pictures posted.

Happy Birthday Mark....you still look like you are in your 40's. How is that possible?

But, I guess the 60's are the new 40's as they say.

Sooo, what's on your bucket list Mark?

Time to pick one of them and go do it on this special day. Aloha

Happy Birthday to one of the funniest classmates we have.  Sorry mine was so late, hope you have the best day ever. There sure have been a lot of birthday's. Are you all turnig 60 or 61?  I mean was I really the mothe of the group?????

04/21/11 01:57 PM #3287

Mike Lampman

Geeez Lynne...you don't really mention who you are talking about in your comment. I'll go way out on a limb here and assume you are talking about me. Thanks so much for the very kind compliment. You usually end your messages to me with a "love you lots". You know, I think it's finally time for us to tell everyone just how strong our feelings are for each other. During the LV reunion we both attended I could sure feel the sexual tension and chemistry between us. The heat was so incredible, I thought I was flamable at times. I always kept an eye out for the closest fire extinguisher, just in case. I don't know how we kept it all under control. I can't imagine what it's going to be like at the next one. I want you to know that it's ok to express your strong feelings for me in the message forum. I think everyone already knows about how we feel about each other. Thanks for the birthday greetings, they were certainly appreciated. You are always welcome to blow out my candle. Aloha and a hui ho....

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Ok you too are so funny....Mike I think you have spent too much time in the Aloha Sun and Lynn if you want to throw a snowball at me here in Hawaii I will gladly use it in my next Lava flow...LOL

04/22/11 11:45 PM #3289

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

WOW, Mike my face is beet red and I am sitting here all alone with my lap top. How do I respond to this one?????  I thought we were the only two that knew.  Hummmmm  I'm at a loss for words that's for sure.

Except for I HOPE YOU HAD A REALLY GREAT BIRTHDAY, I really really do.

I wish you and Carol would meet up and hang out while she is in Hawaii all alone. I have another good friend who is in Whikiki (sp) visiting her son who just got back from Iraq and is only there for two weeks.

It's still on my bucket list to meet up with you in Hawaii. However, you are probably going to have to teach me how to fly all over again. OMG that was so much fun when we first started this talking on our wonderful PHS site (TY Phyllis) I probably never would have gone to the reunion without you and Lorene and Maurene talking me thru it. Especially all of your fun air flight stories, some I will never forget my friend.

Good night for now.
LOVE YOU LOTS
LYNNE
