Carol Maddex (Switzer)

I remember the sweat shirts very vividly . I had one for a very short time. I never even got to try it on. Mary Nelson and I shared a locker all thru school and over the years we had many people who would use our locker from time to time. When I got mine I put it in the locker and after school I went to get it to take home and it was gone....I am pretty sure who took it but that is my Sweat Shirt Story. Don't need to ask who took it because I am not telling...

I just remembered a joke one of Don's friends told me. Here goes! This lady had always wanted a parrot but they were so expensive she thought she'd never get one. Then one day she went into a pet store. They had a parrot that was cheap. She asked the owner what was the matter with the bird. He said, "Nothing. He use to live in a Bordello and sometimes has foul language." So she bought him any way. She got home uncovered the cage and the parrot says, "Oh a new Madame." Her daughter walked in and he said, "Oh..a new girl." Her husband walks in and the bird says, "Hey Larry, How's it goin'?"

PS: I'm so glad I never named any of my boys Larry, because that would have kept me up all night wondering.

Genie Vasco!! It's been years since we ran into each other at the "BIG TIME BLUES FESTIVAL" at the Long Beach Pistol Range on Carson Avenue in Long Beach by the Old Towne Shopping Center. Remember? I think you were a volunteer for the Blues Festival Folks. I had my brother drop me off and to pick me up...I don't drink and drive. Genie...are you still in the Riverside area? Have you heard of The Coco Montoya Blues Band. He is fabulous and playing at the Texas Station and the Boulder Station the weekend of the High School Party.

Mirtha!! I didn't have enough time with you last year. I'm hoping we can talk this time!!

I'm looking forward to the party!!! Peggy and Marianna don't work too hard, I'm sure this will be a perfect weekend and thank you so much for putting this party together for those of us who did not get enough!!!

HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER BUNNY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Hi Robin
You're welcome - we are going to have some fun. Marianna, Billie & I have some things we are putting together. But this is really just a fun time to get together. We will probably do one of these every year except for the big reunion. The Las Vegas Visitors Authority is working with us on some details. Will keep everyone posted. It's fun just to get away from it all and have a party. Hope everyone else thinks so too.
Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of months.
Take care and have a fantastic Easter
Peggy

Hello fellow classmates...

Just saying Hi... Have been very busy with the new seasons work schedule starting up new projects, finalizing last years left overs... and working with training new workers... sometimes is very exhausting mentally and phsically as I am not the young spring rooster I used to be... I feels like it in my head, but the body disagrees with my head... sucks...

Anyway... I like the jokes, comments, and in general just seeing where and what everybody is up to. I have missed so much and just am too tired to scroll way back and see all I have missed so can someone tell me - Have I missed anything????

Keep smiling you all and don't forget to come to Las Vegas...

Ray

Ray,
Thanks for the note, on another thought I can't wait to see the photos of you going down the new water slide at the Golden Nugget. You have to try it, my kids said it was the best. Then when you and Pam get to Idaho you can show me the photos.
I swear if I was going I would be going on the water side. You wouldn't be able to keep me off, I'd probably forget their was a mini reunion going on. lol

Happy Easter To All!

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

STEVE,
I can't remember if it was you that sent me the story about the pine trees that grow the little crosses on the tips of their edges the week before Easter or not......but who ever it was I have been looking at all the various pine trees in our neck of the woods and have yet to find a tree with those little crosses on the tips.
Sorry, I tried.
Lynne

Glad to hear you had a nice day. You got a mushy card because I ran out of funny ones. But it never hurts to tell someone how much they mean to them now and again. DON'T GET USED TO IT.

My favorite birthday card shows a flock of vultures on the front of the card. On the inside it says "Whatever you do on your birthday, just keep moving." Darn I ran out of that one.

Mushy cards are nice to get from good friends. Love you too. . .

Happy Birthday Marsha,

I didn't realize that you were older than me. Now I realize why you seemed so much more mature in high school.

It's always a good day when you spend it with your children.

Sincerely,
Mark

Wanted to let all you Pirates know that another of our icons of childhood is gone. Sam's Famous Steak House on Lakewood Blvd burned down last Sunday. It had different owners, but the food remained the same.

04/11/09 04:21 PM #2088

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Pat,
Thank you for the info. That steak house had really good food. We use to go there several times a month when we lived in Cali. What a shame to hear another one of the icons is gone.
Hope all is well with you. See you in June

Peggy

Steve Wysong and I used to go there for lunch back in "68". Last time I was there was last Summer.
Moffett's Chicken house is now gone. It was south of Alondra Blvd. on Lakewood Blvd. I used to go there a few times a year, for years. They used to have old Paramount High School yearbooks in the waiting section. Not a "68" but some early 60's and 1980's.
Last time I stopped by the, what was the Tastee Freeze, they wre still using the old ice cream maker!
Big "D's" is still on Paramount Blvd., but the food has changed. I spoke to one of the cooks. She's been there for 20 years (a newcomer).
Do you remember Bennie and Cecils across from the football field on Rosecrans?
Did or do any of you eat at Chris and Pits? I still go to the one on Artesia Blvd. No more sawdust on the floor, but still good food.

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

It was a shock when I heard Moffett's had closed. The restaurant did well, but I heard that none of the family members wanted to run it any longer. Nothing stays the same. So we bask in our reverie of the past. But if nothing did change, wouldn't life be dull?

Hope everyone has a pleasant Easter. My great nieces will be here (4 years old & 8 months old). That'll be fun.
