The story you are about to read (and see) is true. No names have been changed to protect the innocent, cuz there weren't none.

Seriously tho, Vegas Party pic are up at our picasa site (Peggy, originals on their way to you shortly.)

http://picasaweb.google.com/dongeneva/VegasParty2009?feat=directlink

We had a great week-end. Friday night in the Gold Digger was a great way to view the festivities on Fremont St.
The dinner Sat night was (reverting to my old days as an inspector) OUTSTANDING. Best food at a dinner of this type I've EVER had. The thought was brougt up to have a party in Vegas every year EXCEPT the year of the major reunions (we all seemed to agree last year, the 45th would be the next big one.) Among the questions was do we want to stay at the Golden Nugget again. My first thought was, it'd be great (prices allowing) to be at a different place each time. After dinner...I'm was ready to return the Nugget.

Til next time......

Don!
That was quick! I wasn't able to log on at the hotel, didn't want to pay the extra fee.

The traffic coming home was horrible. Bumper to bumper 120 from home, while in the middle of the desert.

Look on my classmate profile, that's where I put the photo's from this past weekend.

I had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone there.

Marsha, where were you?

Mark, thank you for posting the pictures of the Las Vegas party. Looks like everyone had a great time. The pictures were great. I loved the old cars too. Hum Maurene should have had her 1957 chev and Roland could have showed his 55 chev.

Don, thank you for your photos too! They were GREAT!

Thanks for posting them so quick!

Take care all,

Lorene

Great Photos everyone, thanks for taking the time to post them for those of us that could not attend.
It looks like you had another wonderful Pirate Vegas time. Sorry I had to miss you all.

Sandy Harris had a really good thought, how would a mini reunion in Laughlin sound to everyone? I think that would be lots of fun. We had a family reunion there and I did it all from here in Idaho and we had 72 family members show up. It was really a great time. Just a thought, to throw out there.

Everyone rest up, you did good!!!
Love
Lynne

Pat,

Thanks for the photos!

I just spent over an hour putting captions and putting the names of everyone in the photos and then my battery went dead! I'll put it all in again, later.

Loved the trivia regarding Elvis Presley today. Since all of you were in Las Vegas. I got the rare opportunity to meet Elvis Presley at the International Hotel (then) in 1970 August. My parents surprised my sister Irene and I since we had been working during the summer at Black Meadow Landing on Havasu with a visit to Las Vegas. We were so shocked. My mom took us to the L.A. Airport and off to Las Vegas we were. Can you imagine two young ladies not even 21 in Las Vegas. We were in seventh heaven. Long story short, we were seated at a table with much older people, probably our age now. We noticed that people were handing money to the ushers to get to a lower seating level. To our surprise, we asked one man to help us out, not even. We were persistent, we asked this young usher, he came to the table, got us and sat us up in front of the stage at a table for two. I tried to pay the usher, he said, "no way" just have fun and enjoy yourself. We wore our clothes a lot different then, really, really short dresses and boots. I can remember I had this purple dress with white on it, and purple boots. My hair was down to the middle of my back with long curls. We had a great time watching Elvis perform and was enjoying every minute of it. When suddenly a man by the name of Rick was kneeling down beside my chair and told my sister and I that we were invited to meet Elvis Presley at his hotel suite. I could not believe it, we knew where the suite was because we had ventured up that way before the show. After the show we proceeded to the Penthouse, saw all these people outside the room, this guard says to me, young lady where do you think you are going. I said, we have been invited to meet Elvis Presley. He said, ya sure, so has everyone else, they all think that. About that time, this guy Richard opened the door and saw us standing there, he said, hi Lorene and Irene, come on in. I said ouch, I don't believe this. I remember this long bar with big bowls of pistachio nuts on it (I love them). Actually we had gone up in the elevator with Kathy Westmoreland, one of his backup singers who lived in Norco, CA. We waited for Elvis to arrive, after sipping on Orange Juice and Vodka drink (oops we were under age). Elivs arrived in the room drop dead gorgeous and dressed in a baby blue suit. I had a camera in my purse and did not ask for a picture. The reason, he was such a nice guy, very polite and wanted the chance to talk to normal people who did not want anything from him. He told us that it was hard for him to do or go anywhere and to just be a normal person. So to this day, I so appreciate the honor of meeting such a gentle, kind person. We saw no drugs, nothing out of the ordinary, in fact the only thing he drank was little bottles of seven up. I will say one thing, he looked pretty darn good. We were in his room until 5:00 a.m. and our plane left at 6:00 a.m.

Little bit of Las Vegas trivia for those who went to Las Vegas.

Saw more pictures that were taken. Thank you. They were great!!

I am having so much fun looking through the pictures. Thank you to everyone for posting them. And of course Pat B. called me last night and filled me in on all the fun you had.

Mark -- We had a wedding to attend here in Lake Havasu on Saturday, thus, no Vegas party for me. I am very sorry to have missed it but couldn't miss the wedding.

Lynne -- I think Laughlin is a GREAT IDEA! (Very close for me.)

Thanks again everyone.

I appreciate the great pictures. Did anyone get a picture of the "coach"? How did he look after all these years?

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Hi Everyone,
Darla, Joe, Gloria, Don, Mark, Mirtha (via phone) - all of you thank you so much for the kind remarks. I am so happy that everyone had a wonderful time. Gloria & Mirtha, the pastrami sandwiches were great thank you so much. I think the food the Golden Nugget served at our event was outstanding. The Fremont Street Experience was just so cool celebrating The Summer of '69 with all the music, the old cars, what more could you ask for. Plus The Golddiggers and patio view of the Fremont Street Experience for free was a bonus.

Once we get our pictures all posted to the picassa site we will send those of you who gave us your email address a link to it. If any of you at the Vegas party want your pictures posted to it just send them to Billie or me and we will take care of them for you.

Robin, I agree you looked great and so good to see you again. We had fun catching up.

Let's see, Lynne you asked who the Mystery guest was, that was Mr. Rittenger and his wife, Lin - he gave a wonderful speech and had us all on our feet to join him in God Bless America, a wonderful man and still looks great. It was such a pleasure to have him there with us. His wife, Lin also won the grand prize trip for 3 days 2 nights in Park City Utah.

Lynne and Sandi you mentioned Laughlin - that sounds like it would be very easy for you both to set that one up. When will it be? Please keep us all posted.

Good to hear that everyone made it home safe an already posting their pics. Good pictures too.

Thank you again everyone for attending and hope to see all of you at the next Paramount Pirates Event.

Peggy

Marianna Brown (Schechter)

Classmates...

I want to thank each and everyone of you that made the 'Vegas Party' a huge success! A great time was had by all (some more than others). The hotel was wonderful...food was fantastic...company, the best. Kudos to the Golden Nugget!

Mirtha and Gloria...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the wonderful pastrami sandwiches. Peggy and I didn't get them all to ourselves...we had to share with our husbands :-(

Mr. Rittenger was fantastic! If you look at the pictures of him it really is hard to tell him from the classmates. He did a fantastic job with his words to the gathering and in singing 'God Bless America'.

Robin you looked great! Carole Eneim Scott...Darla Ford...you two know how to make a party.

Peggy and I hope to have the Picassa site up and edited shortly after the 4th of July. If you have pictures be sure to get them to Peggy or Billie.

Sandra and Lynne...Peggy and I have looked at Laughlin for a class party. The only problem that we could find with it is that it does not have a major airport close by. Transportation for those flying in could be a problem. If the two of you could work out this problem for a Paramount High School get together...go for it! I am sure you two could put on a great party.

Again...A great big THANK YOU to all of you that came and made this a wonderful weekend.

I've posted pictures on on Photo Gallery page. Take a look. Marianna, Peggy and Billie, thank you for all your efforts. The party was wonderful. I had a great time. It was a fun party and good to see so many of our classmates, some who were unable to make the 40th reunion last year.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Peggy and Marianna,
All I've got to say about some of your suggestions is HA HA HA HA HA, not on your life.
Not gonna happen. :-)
The only mini reunion I will EVER plan will be in Idaho.
I could never hold a candle to what you girls have done.
Great photos, I enjoyed looking at all of your smiling faces. Missed you.
Lynne

Peggy Steiner (Miller)

Ah come on Lynne, I think that you could do a wonderful job and thank you for your compliment. Our connections in Laughlin are not as good as here in Vegas, so here is much easier for us. We had thought that since you had organized a family reunion in Laughlin that you would do a Pirates Event. Maybe you will change your mind.
Have a great evening and we missed not having you at the event also.
Peggy

Phyllis,
Your pictures on the gallery are wonderful - great job and thank you.

Also, a new romance from our party, isn't it great?

Our classmates are the best and love to have a great time.

Peggy,

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but putting one reunion together for over 70 people all by myself was enough to last me a lifetime.

I'll be more than happy to join the rest of you in Las Vegas again. Hopefully, my family life with my folks health will be better by then. Hummm who am I trying to kid? We all know Alzheimers is terminal, so we will just take each and every moment we have moment by moment.

Thank you Peggy, Marianna and Billie for planning a terrific party!! Thank you Marianna for picking Art, Cheryl and I up at the airport and the ride down the strip in your convertible was a hoot!! Watching the Fremont Street Experience with our "gang" from the balcony at the Gold Diggers Bar was soooooooooo much fun! The music seemed to be 'just for us'!! Saturday nights buffet was so yummy, I was absolutely impressed with the menu and the desserts were heavenly!! Last weekends get-together seemed to be more relaxed and casual. Everyone looked great...happy to see everyone again. I like the once a year idea and Don I agree with you and would go back to the Golden Nugget in a heart beat. Art and Cheryl Salazar and myself stayed over Sunday night to see Bette Midler at Caesar's Palace. You 2 know how to do it right, I so enjoyed spending the weekend with you and so good to see Nona and Genee since they missed last year. It truly was a fabulous weekend for me!! Loved every minute!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Love You!!!

Billie Hundley (Linnane-Miller)

It was wonderful to see so many classmates again, Bob and I had a wonderful time with you in Vegas. I snapped some great pictures of just about everyone at the Friday night mixer and Saturday night dinner party. I'm in the process of editing photos (appx. 300 pics) and will upload to the PHS Picassa site in a few days. I've posted a few pictures on my PHS profile as well.

We look forward to next year's shing-dig!

Kind regards to all,

Billie
