Bob Ericson

My step father was transferred to US EUCOM. He, my Mom and brother Rick sailed aboard the SS United States from NY to Le Havre. I remember having to wait until our car was off-loaded from the ship and our long drive to Paris where we stayed in a Hotel (George V), near the Champs-Elysees. I recall a bowling alley nearby where we went quite often, but I have since forgotten it's name. We moved to government housing near the SHAPE headquarters, but I don't remember what it was called. Maybe someone can supply?

I have two favorites ...
First - those dark olive drab "school" buses we took every day, and getting caught at the RR tracks in St Cloud where we would get off the bus and get a loaf of French bread... fresh out of the oven !!!
Second - the rumor that the daughter of an Army colonel, also a US singing star (Brenda Lee), was attending our school. I was in the 8th and 9th grades at PAHS. My name was Robert (Bob) Fay at the time, (1959/1960), and my brother was Rick Ericson - confusing I know, but I didn't change my name until 1963.
