In Memory

Karen Kasnicki (Teemer) - Class Of 1967

On June 8, 2008, the beloved eldest daughter of Edward and Vicky Kasnicki passed away after a valiant albeit short fight with lung cancer. Karen was a Washington D.C. resident for the past thirty years. Early in her career she was involved in real estate and later she acquired her stock broker's license. She attended the University of Maryland -Munich and finished her degree studies in College Park, MD. She was extremely active in the Munich alumnus group where she enjoyed planning many of the reunions. She is survived by her sister, Carol Yeager, a resident of Charleston, SC. There will be no services. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Karen's name be made to the wonderful staff that cared for her in those final days: Capital Hospice, 6565 Arlington Blvd., Suite 500, Falls Church, VA 22042 or www.capitalhospice.org/support/donation

I had know Karen a little while in school, and was always a fan of hers, and thought the world of her. I am sorry that I didnt get to know her any better than I did.

I just talked to Karen's dad yesterday, thanks to a little bit of serendipity.  I was talking to a friend/mentor who recently moved to Vinson Hall, a Navy retirement community in McLean, VA.  When I asked her if she knew any of the other residents, she mentioned that "Ed Kasnicki" was living there.  I told her that I may have gone to school with his daughters.  She told him, and he called me the next day, and we had a nice chat about Karen.  We miss you, Karen!

I knew Karen when she and Pat Krank were dating - she was a good friend and we had some good times - but then who didn't - living in Europe in the 60s.  I am sorry to see that she and so many more of us are gone but hopefully with no regrets and things left undone.
