If you have moved out of Rochester NY, how often do you get back to visit?

I've been a "Snowbird" for the past few years. Until this year! For a number of reasons (including the virus), we have taken up permanent residence in Arizona. Love Rochester and hope to spend more "good weather" moments there when the world gets back to its senses. We miss our family and our friends, which is what we love most about Rochester. And by the way, my first full summer in Arizona had to be the one that set the record for most days over 120 degrees!

Would you ever move back to the area?

I'm not sure I'd want to do yard work in two places any more.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

I really do keep in touch with many of the great friends I in had school. All too many to mention here for fear of leaving someone out. Two people stand out, though. Mark DeVincentis and I were pretty close and remain so. I was his "Best Man" in BOTH weddings. His oldest daughter Angela is my Godchild and we stay connected. Andy Saul and I went through "every single grade" from 1st until last and we still talk regularly. Friendships that span six decades, I would imagine, are quite rare.

What are your memories of high school (i.e. embarrassing moment, funniest thing you did in high school, favorite high school hang out, favorite teachers)?

I lived on the "Gateway" to 42 School AND Charlotte for many kids. My brother Carl still lives in our childhood home at 22 Stonewood Avenue. See if you all can relate: #42 playground, Benvenuto Junk Yard, Red Falls, Laure's Lounge (B&M), Dad's Store, Jack's Pizza, Pontillo's, Marty the Barber, Hitchhiking to CHS, Making Police IDs at the Britton Rd Library, Delite Dairy Bar, LDR, Abbotts, John & Stan's, Ice Skating Rink at Ontario Beach, Merry Go Round, Bumper Cars, Bleachers, "Wind Sprints", Greenhouse, Mardi Gras, Ernie's Tavern, The Irish Inn, Cinelli's, Colline's, Master's Deli...And that's all before I got to school!

What did you do right after high school?

Went to the University of Maine and returned to Rochester in 1973 when my Dad died in a car crash.

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

Go to college, drink alcohol, smoke pot, chase girls, play football, and just about every other stupid thing you could imagine. "If you want to make God chuckle, tell him about your plans for the future!"

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at CHS?

Ask the Spanish teacher to go out on a date.

School Story:

Had a card game in my basement one Saturday night my parents were out. Not sure about exactly who was there. Probably Andrychuk, Meadows, Joe Peck, MacGregor, and I know for sure Larry Graves! That's because, beer wasn't good enough for Larry. He had to have some of my father's "Homemade Wine" (which was TERRIBLE!). He went to the wine barrel and filled up a Mason Jar to the top and drank the entire thing while playing cards. He staggered out broke that night. When we called him on Sunday, he didn't answer. When we saw him at school on Monday, he was late and looked like crap. He told me that he slept through Sunday and woke up Monday morning with a terrible headache!
