Martin M. Harker

Many of you may not have heard about the passing of Herb Hauser on October 24, 2016.  I was privileged with a few others to speak to him shortly before he passed away as well as represent the fellow Canada Calgary missionaries at his funerall in Hesperia, CA, where he resided at the time of his passing on Saturday, October 29,  2016.  I have been trying to get obituary inormation and copies of a funeral program to share with you since that time.  Just this week, his oldest son Nathan, who lives in Chubbuck, near Pocatello, Idaho sent me the follow email and related funeral program.

Brother Harker,

I am sorry that this took so long to get done. I'd say I was busy but that isn't the case. I just plum forgot. Thanks you again for coming to celebrate my father's life. I know that my dad always had good things to say about those he served with and had very fond memories of the people he met on his mission. I have included the inner and outer sides of the funeral service folder as attachments. My brother did them for the service. Dad's wishes were that there would be no obituary, so unfortunately I can't help you there.

As far as other information goes, you already know the majority. He battled pancreatic cancer and its side effects for about 7 years. In the end he died with my brother holding him. He had been disturbed earlier that day stating that there was someone in the room who, as Dad told my brother, "wants me to go with him, but I don't want to." Just like Dad, he always thought there was something else to do. I am truly grateful for the plan of salvation and the atonement , and the understanding we have been given in the latter days about the eternal nature of families.

I am grateful for my dad's loving mission family and all that you did for him in his final years of life. He truly loved all of you and wanted nothing but the best for each of you. You were all heroes in his mind. High praise from a man that I hold up as one of the greatest men this world has known. I'm partial though.

I hope this finds you well and that God blesses you with all you have need of this year. Again thank you for all you have and continue to do.

Your Brother,

Nathan Hauser
(Herb Hauser's oldest son)

Here is the funeral program from Nathan posted below.  Also, I had to pull up a few pictures from the old Kodak camera from Saskatchewan from 1974.  Sorry about the quality of these pictures.  Hope they bring back a memory or a smile or both.
