I graduated from University of Texas at Austin in 1979 with a degree in Secondary Education, English and Drama major teaching fields. There were no jobs in Austin at that time for high school (or junior high school) English, Drama, or Reading teachers, so I became a real estate agent and started selling homes. Other jobs followed: selling architectural precast concrete, limestone, brick and block, marble and granite, business phone systems; managing a dental office; multi-family and commercial property management. I married my second husband in 1984 and his career brought us to Orlando in 1990. I had always wanted to go to law school, and my husband encouraged me, so I started law school at Stetson Law School in Gulfport (St. Petersburg, FL) on my 40th birthday in January 1995 and graduated in May 1997. I have been practicing law ever since (land use law, local government law, and commercial real estate transactions). I plan on (mostly) retiring in December 2024. I'll keep a few of my clients. Other attorneys in my firm will take over the work for the rest of my clients, and I'll help them from time to time if necessary. I have also been an adjunct professor of law for three different law schools since 2001, teaching Florida Constitutional Law and Land Use Law, but I don't plan on continuing that -- it will interfere too much with travel!
