This was a total shock to me to hear of Lenora's passing. Somehow we connected in hi school and we were both quite shy. I think it was in foods class, maybe 9th or 10th grade. Many fond memories of Lenora come to mind not just school days but even years after when we both decided to go to PPC (it only lasted about 7 months or so) to double dating with my boyfriend, which ended up being my husband to this day. Back to hi school days, we did have some classes together and cooking class was a riot. We had Ms Munson and she always graded us on how the food item we cooked looked like and she always tasted everyone's food. Lenora and I always talked about how we hated that so Lenora decided she would eat her food real quick so she could not taste test her food. We were in groups so she just tasted one person's food from the group. I thought that was pretty funny.
After PCC did not work out ( she drove her dads car and picked me up but because of being late so much I told her we would probably get kicked out soon since our teacher had warned us about being excessively late when class first started, we ended up quiting Anyways, this is crazy but we ended up going bowling instead, weekly. My boyfriend lived 2 doors down from me and he had a room mate and sometime later we ended up double dating going to different places often. This was a really fun and exciting time in my growing up years. I was pretty sheltered growing up and life was pretty boring until this dating period. Here I was with my boyfriend and my best friend at the same time and getting away from my boring household. Anyways I'm not going to write a book here just memories coming back. In 1974 my boyfriend's friend from work told him of a beautiful secluded beach near Lompoc in CA., Jalama Beach. So we found it and after awhile we invited Lenora to join us and she came a few times, we even had the same Bikini swimsuit with strips except hers was the blue and mine was the orange stripes. Oh my husband and I went there so many times with our basic camping gear and even the cheap blow up air mattress that was flat half way through the night. We still go there to this day with our grown up kids, with much better gear and Motorhome, they have great memorie Of Jalama Beach.
If I had to guess it was around the mid 80's we lost contact, easy to do with no phones, computers or social media. So years later when I was on FB I'd see some of her post and made some comments here and there but nothing for the last few years. About 6-7 months ago she said hello to me on FB and asked me how I was doing. She said she would talk to me on Instagram but I did not have an acct and took my time to set it up, oh if I only knew she was not well. We were traveling to our summer home in WA state on May 15th and 16th and I was pretty sick even had to go to ER on the way up. So a few days later I saw the memory page in my e-mail and was saddened we did not make that connection.
