I had been in the military for almost 10 years and had only been able to make it home on leave to see my family once during that time. The reason was that I had been stationed in Hawaii with my ex-wife and two boys, Bobby and Daniel, during this time and had been deployed to places like Japan, Korea, The Philippines, Thailand, Africa and Alaska, It just never seemed like I could ever find the time for us to go home. In 1989, I was stationed at NAS Dallas, Texas and finally found the time to go home. Of course, with all my other obligations our visit was a lot shorter then I had wanted, In fact, I was only able to spend about two days with my brother Kelly and his family. During my tour at Dallas I kept in close contact with Kelly, calling him every weekend, usually it was because my bike had broken down and I needed big brothers help. Kelly had been a motorcycle mechanic with Mr. Salvage Motorcycle Shop in Great Falls, Montana for several years. He knew his bikes inside and out, many times he walked me through the rebuild of carbs or valve adjustments late at night and without the aid of a manual. Every time we talked on the phone he mentioned how when I got out of the military he was going to take me on a road trip....first over to Sturgis then down to Texas, so I could show him some of my hangouts, and then back home up through Colorado. I was to be discharged on July 8th, 1992, but Kelly died in April......Needless to say I have never been to Sturgis. I love and miss you Big Brother (Red Snapper)
