John Buckley

December 16, 1990 -- July 1, 2001

SWEET GRASS -- John Raymond Buckley, 40, a meat inspection manager, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at a Great Falls hospital of injuries he received in a motorcycle accident near Shelby. 

A prayer service is 7 p.m. Thursday at Sunburst Methodist Church. His funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Sunburst Methodist Church, with burial in Sweet Grass Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. 

Survivors include a daughter, Kristine Nicole Buckley of Sweet Grass; a son, Patrick Michael John Buckley of Sweet Grass; his parents, Mike and Bobbie Buckley of Sweet Grass; sisters Karen Ann Connell and Jeanne Marie Hamilton of Montgomery, Texas; and brothers Timothy David Buckley of Sweet Grass and Erin Michael Buckley of Sunburst. 

He was born Dec. 16, 1960, in Shelby. He was educated at the Red River Country School near Sunburst and was enrolled in the Job Corps for a time. 

John married Sharon Sadler on Nov. 15, 1984, in Cut Bank; they later divorced. 

He lived in Oklahoma for a time, working in the oil fields near Elk City. He then returned to Sweet Grass, where he worked in the warehouse for WY Moberly Inc. At the time of his death, he was the manager for the US Import Meat Inspection Station at Sweet Grass. John also was self-employed as a mechanic, backhoe and dump truck operator and general jack-of-all-trades. He also owned a warehouse, which he leased to different businesses. 

He attended the Sweet Grass Methodist Church and was a member of the Coutts-Sweet Grass Fire Department. John enjoyed golf, boating, camping, horses and motorcycles. 

Memorials are suggested to the Coutts-Sweet Grass Fire Department or the Sunburst Methodist Church.

John was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 01, 2001 on Interstate 15 North of Shelby. John was survived by a daughter Kristine and a son Patrick.

You are truely missed by a fello Harley rider. I'll never forget our last conversation that night outside the Mint in Shelby. I always have you in my thoughts when I'm on my Heritage. Ride on, John...ride on!
