Sandy Carter (Valko)
This is Jo Carter Luther posting on behalf of my sister, Sandy Carter Morris Valko, who you have heard passed away Friday afternoon, April 13, 2012, from lung complications after surgery. Your words of comfort are much appreciated.
I wanted to share with you the plans for her Memorial Service at Hillside Funeral Home East in Wichita, Kansas, on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. It will be a celebration of her life and anything you'd like to share we will happily use it in honoring her and we'd be delighted if anyone wanted to travel this distance, but the service is right across from her work where her staff and all the doctors she worked with will be remembering her as a friend, coworker, and valued professional leader in the Wichita Clinic for the last 20 years, now Via Christ Clinic, a part of Via Christi Hospitals systems which is where she was in surgical intensive care for the last three weeks appx. I believe the funeral home will publish online at www.HillsideFuneralHomeEast.com information and the obituary probably before it comes out in the paper - not sure.
We have asked the funeral home to publish her obituary in the Lubbock and Tulia papers and hope someone will send me a copy if you see one or get an extra one. I am on facebook as Joleen Carter Luther, email at joluther@yahoo.com, or you can phone me at 316-880-1359 or even write should you like to be in touch at 2210 S. Oliver Apt 304, Wichita, KS 67218. I would appreciate any words of encouragement as I will continue to struggle with her loss. Both my girls, Bonnie, 34, and Jacque 26, and Jacque's daughter, Ireland (4), my granddaughter are here in Wichita also, so am glad to have them close.
I will be in contact with Becky Milner and hopefully Aliece. Richard Edwards was kind enough to be with my mom there in Lubbock when I had to make the terrible call Friday and tell her Sandy had lost her fight to survive to her planned retirement to their Arkansas home. She and her husband had paid off and were looking to head to it in October when she turned 62. John says she is going with him to Arkansas still, just not how they had planned at all. Sandy's daughter Ladonda Morris and her son, Kevin Heath Morris, were both able to visit her at least once in the hospital from Fort Worth before her passing, though Sandy was not conscious. Ladonda is 41 and has two boys, David who has a daughter, Kiley in Dayton, Texas (making Ladonda a grandmother, Sandy a great-grandmother and Don Morris a great-granddad!) and Devin who is in high school and lives with his dad in the Houston area. Heath is married to Stacey and they have two young boys, Caleb and Carter.
Thanks again for your concerns and prayers and thoughts. Tulia was and always will be our most special home and will always miss being there with, of course, the finest people!
Jo
