Rick,
Just finished up a training "event". I tried to tell them we need to 'simulate' flying while impaired......
It was a joke.
I think you and I are the only ones with a sense of humor these day.
Obviously these instructors are NOT NFSH '73 WORTHY!
Happy New Year everybody!

Dennis,
Man, what a great first grade picture!
There are Linda, Joni, Steve Robertson, Freddy, the Poe twins, Roger Dale Moore, Norris, Ray,.... now I've got to go back to the picture to remember any more.
Thanks man.

And one last thing, while I'm here. Has this happened to you...YET? I stepped out of an elevator the other day and I was laughing. One of my co-workers asked me what was so funny? I told them, you know you've crossed a line when, (and I began to snap my fingers)you're on an elevator and you say to yourself, "Man, they're playing some pretty cool tunes on these things these days!"
That's it.
See you next year!

Hey Danny,
I can tell you are maturing..........at least you are walking out of the elevator instead of crawling!!
I trust you to get us to the cruise.
Hope everyone had a good New Year.....Looking forward to 2009

I saw a small announcement in this morning's Winston-Salem Journal regarding North Forsyth recognizing several new members of it's sports hall of fame next week. The article states "The 1972 football team as well as six individuals will be inducted into the school's hall of fame". The article did not give any specifics as to the time or date. Of course, I immediately thought of Claude Smalls and how his attendance will be missed during the ceremonies. I thought I should pass along this information, just in case some of you football players hadn't been contacted to be there. It is also near and dear to the hearts of those who did not play the game, but cheered from sidelines...sounds like another reunion (of sorts) to me. Happy New Year!

I have not been contacted. Thanks, Mary Kay, for the heads up. It may be that some of the players that are still living in W-S were notified.....those that are more easily tracked down. Or it may just be a school thing and not a media event. For me, just knowing the team is inducted makes me feel proud to have been a small part of it. It was a fabulous time to be alive. If anyone knows any details, please post them. FYI, the following list was published on Wikipedia. North Forsyth Athletic Hall of Fame Members Scott Brent, Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Gray Cartwright, Head Boy's Basketball Coach, Athletic Director Marcia Christensen, Girl's Soccer Germane Crowell, Football Jeff Denny, Basketball Jeremy Edwards, Wrestling Julian Gibson, Principal Jimmy Guill, Basketball Brian Howard, Basketball Tobe Jackson, Basketball Denny Key, Basketball Rob Kapprodt, Boy's Soccer Darrell Nicholson, Football Colon Nifong, Head Football Coach/Athletic Director Molly Page, Girl's Soccer & Cheerleading Ken Parks, Football Olon Shuler, Head Boy's Basketball Coach Claude Smalls, Football Bernard Williams, Football

Wow! What an honor to be recognized in the Hall Of Fame. We had such a great team. It's a same that they are just now doing it. Chip Picot should be there along with Claude. If anyone hears anything please let all of us know. I would drive up to Winston to see that.

Hi Pam...I'm going to call North tomorrow and talk with the Coach Adkins, the AD. I'll post what I find out just as soon as I can.

Okay, it's this Friday, January 9 when we play North Davidson...don't know the exact time yet...still trying to get a confirmation on that! By the way, the pics are fantastic. I had fun looking through the photos and reminiscing!

Just a note to all:

I finally talked to Corky Grimes yesterday. He and his wife, Diane, are about to move to Montreal. Corky was laid off at RJR but has definitely landed on his feet. They'll be going in a few months. I told him to get his profile updated so he can stay in touch. I'll stay on him. In the meantime:

Hey did anyone go to the game yesterday. Just wanted to know how it went.
Glad to know that Corky got a new job in this tough economy. Sorry to hear that he is moving to Montreal. Does that mean he has to learn French?
Hope everyone is doing well in the New Year.

It was a GREAT end to a CRAPPY sports weekend. Panthers?! Delhomme?! Do I smell trade? Wishful thinking.

I was talking to my son tonight, who happens to be a big Panthers fan.......he also wishes they would trade Delhome or at least bench him next year for someone who is hungry for the big win......could make a difference

And while they're at it, perhaps the offensive coordinator as well. Why in the world would you abandon the run - your bread and butter - after only one failed series? And why stick with the passing game when it was obvious it was not working?! They panicked way too early. Seriously, where was Fox? Is he not head coach? Can you tell I live in a house full of men? Ha!

01/11/09 11:31 PM #108

David Wilson

Good point.....we fought so hard for home field advantage and then lost the game on strategy.....Fox and company should have adjusted after the third interception, when the lead wasn't so great.

So, another year where I really don't care who wins the super bowl. Maybe I'll pull for Pittsburgh this year just for kicks.....if they get there.

I am the only one left in my house who has an interest in watching sports. Tonight was awesome. Now we go and beat BC and Clemson and see what "they" say about Wake then.
