I have sad news.....SHARON POINDEXTER, she helped me a lot on the reunion getting NF gear together to give away. She is the Data Manager in the Guidance office at North. Been diagnosed with CANCER all over her body this week. I will get the details after I speak with her. I may send our a web wide announcement if she does not mind. I will keep you posted.

Lets pray for Sharon and her family.

Fred, I heard the same thing about Sharon Poindexter when our Sunday School class had their prayer time. I don't know any more details than you do but one of my class members who is a school secretary mentioned it.

I am so sorry to hear that about Sharon. I will put her on my prayer list.
Also does anyone know how to get in touch with Mitzi Lawson, Jeff Yarbough, or Teresa Procter?

Go Deacs again!!!!

Yeah Rick, Wake is playing some very solid basketball this week. Let's hope they can go down to Clemson and squeeze some oranges there, and take their place as No. 1 ACC team. Maybe a few less alley-oop attempts. Clemson will be preparing for those, you can be sure.

Ah-hem.....those Deacs......what a wonderful week of basketball. Today's game was "itching" at me all week, waiting to see just how we would do against the Tigers. Now that we've won it and Pitt has lost a game, will we see our Demon Deacons as next week's new #1 team?

I don't want to jinx our boys, so I will not say what I am thinking.

Hey Fred, we got a hot team on our hands. I'd like to see them get that NCAA Tournament "monkey" off their backs and advance to the final four this year. They certainly have the talent and are working on their maturity. Skip would be proud.

And what was I saying about sexy older men?! Go Kurt Warner! And GO DEACS!

Don't get to say this very often: "Good morning to all from snowy Wilson."

I hope all affected will be safe today. If you're home, then enjoy and have fun. If you're at work, like me, have fun anyway!

Valerie, I'm like you Go Kurt. I hope Phoenix goes all the way. Just so happy the Ravens are not in it. It should be a great Super Bowl!!!

Rick,

Enjoy the snow my friend as I know it is rare in Wilson. It hasn't been above freezing here in Richmond for 5 days, but no snow. Global warming indeed.

Uh, Dennis.....you have to learn to call it Climate Change.

My office closed early today...took me an hour to get home (usually 25 minutes). We left right away for Raleigh because we've had Celine Dion tickets for over a year (don't start with me...I know it wasn't the Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, or even the Brothers Grimm but the wife was looking forward to it). We got within 15 miles of Raleigh when we heard the concert had been postponed until Wednesday night.

We don't get much snow around here for sure...the 4"-5" we have now is pretty...hanging heavy on the trees, etc.

Donna Canter (Goforth)

What snow we had is gone this morning, but it is freezing cold.....has been for about a week now. That is enough for me - I am ready for HOT weather!! :)

So am I, Donna. It seemed like it rained the whole month of December and most of January as well.

Even though being outside in the summer makes me sweat like Mike Tyson at a spelling bee, I don't complain much about the heat and humidity...I like summer!

Mike Tyson at a spelling bee.........too funny

John,

Good mourning, indeed.

"Good mourning, Deac fans!"

I don't care who you are. That is funny right there. LOL!

Yeah, boy! Deacs rule! Anybody want to meet for breakfast on Saturday morning Feb 7th at the Golden Corral at Hanes Mall????? I may put out an APB email and see who shows up!

01/23/09 09:41 AM #131

John Luebchow

Deacs rule? They didn't even last 3 days at #1 before they lost. And they may lose again on Saturday to Dook!

01/23/09 04:14 PM #132

Rick Hodges

Yall talk your junk while you can...........you want have many chances to do that this year..........I hope

Waaaahhhhhh!!!!

OK, I am done crying over Wake's loss to VT. It has been so long since I cried over a Wake loss, we've had so many over the years. BUT.....Wake still has the capability this year of ruining some "ESPN favorite" ACC teams bid for the conference title and perhaps the tourney also. We are dangerous when we all show up to play. I won't cry over another Wake loss until we lose a game at or beyond the NCAA sweet 16. That's where I'd like to see the Deacs go, at least that far.

When you are ranked #1 in the nation, within 2 points of tying up the score with just under 2 minute to play, your opponent cannot hit a free throw and you still can't win AT HOME, then you didn't deserve to win anyway. Regardless of all of the calls, non-calls, technical fouls, etc., Wake was out played in the final 2 minutes and lost.

They'll be back. GO DEACS!

NC State Women Basketball Coach Kay Yow passed away this morning after a long battle against breast cancer. I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Yow in the 70s when I was a student at State. What a great person she was. I shall miss her greatly. RIP Coach. A truly sad day.

I was unable to watch the game in its entirety due to another commitment, but it APPEARS as if the Deacs did something they have not done in previous years...they stuck it out to the end. Outplayed? Definitely. Bad calls? Definitely. But they did not throw in the towel early, and they DID overcome a huge deficit as I recall. And for the first time in a while, they don't have a team built around JUST one player. A loss is no longer the result of just one player's bad game - seems they ALL have to play poorly to lose! This may bode well for the future...after all, what are the odds of that happening again, right?! Krzyzewski vs. Gaudio. Bring it on!
