Stephen David Clarke - Class Of 1981 VIEW PROFILE

Stephen David Clarke

March 9, 1964 - January 29, 1984

Survived By: His parents, David E. Clarke, Ph.D. and Kathleen M. Clarke. His sisters, Susan Anne Clarke and Deborah Jane Clarke.

Stephen was my brother. He and I were 359 days apart. We were extremely close our entire lives. He was my best friend.

He and a friend were driving in Austin, Texas, where they lived. The friend was driving Steve's car. Presumably, the friend did not see the train coming and they collided. Steve died instantly. The friend was severely injured and died after being in a coma for 5 days.

I miss my brother every single day, even now. As I write this, my hands are shaking and I'm starting to cry. Grief never goes away. It only changes form. It just dissipates throughout your body. It dampens every holiday, especially Christmas which was so special in our house. Every one of his birthdays and every "anniversary" of his death bring to surface the shock and overwhelming pain of his death. I will love him forever.

Deborah Jane Clarke
