I see that Francis Stein has signed in at this website. Francis' son, Kevin, lives three houses up the street from me.
Francis can be proud of Kevin, as he is about as fine a young man as you could possibly ask for.
Kevin graduated (1992) with my youngest step-daughter, Brandy. Also, Kevin and his wife Leslie are best friends with my oldest step-daughter, Shannon (and Jeremy), who lives directly behind them. Francis' grandson, Dustin, is best friends with my granddaughter, Bailey Nicole.
Gee.....we're all just one big "Happy" bunch here on Happy Street ! LOL

That now makes three children of NK70 classmates living here on my street. (Kevin Stein and Kyle & Evan Telligman)
The house across from me is for sale, if any of you have kids looking for a home to purchase !!!

Francis, hey! It is a small world! I think I know where that business is.....Yes, I fell in love with the Smokies when my internship in Chicago sent me to Johnson City, TN for two weeks...I had no idea I'd be moving to the Charlotte area about three years later and then to Morganton after that...and I never imagined that my parents and brother would move south as well..I'm glad my sons are content, at least for now, to stay in the Charlotte area...I wish I could get back to Indiana more often, though....Kathy

I heard yesterday, 8/24, that Kent "Moon" Hartings dad, Don, passed away. Don, like Kent, was not only big in stature but big of heart. He had a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed.

Even after nearly forty years, there is still a hatred burning somewhere deep down inside of me for Vincennes football & basketball teams. I'm sure many of you still feel the pain of our NK teams being trampled on by those Vincennes teams and their "bragadocious" fans !
I have good news to report.

Our grandson's NK 7th grade football team traveled to Inman Feild tonight to meet the all-mighty Vincennes Clark team.

Final score NK-24------Vincennes 0.

Our team has only 12 players. That means everyone plays both ways, which means no rest for our boys. While Vincennes had over 60 boys try out for the team this summer.

Hunter "The Bullet" Jones did a superb job at quarterback. opening the game with a 22 yard completion to
fullback, Austin "The Animal" Miller.
From his defensive end position, "The Bullet" intercepted a Vincennes pass in the 1st quarter and ran it back 55 yards for a TD.

Can hardly wait until these boys are juniors & seniors.

(Sorry, I got so excited I forgot to take any pictures.)

Dick, Wayne's birthday is Sept. 28th.

Rich this website is awesome and I just want to say thank you for setting this up for our class. I signed on just a couple of days ago and have already heard from some of our classmates. Time has gone by so fast since graduation and we lose touch. So glad to hear from everyone.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend. I am off on a four day trip with the airline. I know you all feel sorry for me having to work. We are down to 125 unknown classmates. If you see anyone over the holiday, please encourage them to let us hear from them.

Francis, Ride safe this weekend and have a good time.

Kathy, I hope your trip goes well. I have been meaning to ask you whose son is getting married? I assume it is Bruce's. Please tell all of your familly hi.

We all know now in NC and SC about some of the flooding you all went through earlier in the year, although not as bad I am sure. Charlotte got 10-12 inches two nights ago and there was a great deal of flooding.

Dick
Where are you going over the weekend. I might see you in Denver Saturday morning on our way to Jackson Hole.

Richard Finke

Hi Pat, Are you flying to Denver and then driving to Jackson Hole? I hope you have a good time. It is Friday morning and I am in Denver right now. I fly out this afternoon to Charlotte and then on to Myrtle Beach, and then on Saturday work my way to LA. Denver is a busy place now with the convention, but maybe everyone will be gone by Saturday. If you work your way down to Colorado Springs, be sure to stop by my old school at the Academy. Take care, Rich

Hey everyone! I'm back from my trip to In. It was great! Thanks to Ruth for organizing/hosting a mini-reunion...I got to see Deb, Jean, and Patty and of course, Ruth....thanks, again, girls for spending time with me!

Sitting with these girls reminded me of my softball playing days with the Freelandville team...all these girls were really good athletes...me, not so much. They were all so gracious, but I was not up to their level, ever. My career highlight was a hit to third base...Ruth gently reminded me that it's called a triple, I think... I keep hitting my escape button, so I must be a little tired from the trip..if I have accidently posted this message more than once, please excuse me...

Rich, sorry I'm late getting back to you about the wedding. Bruce's youngest son, Jared, was the one getting married. His oldest daughter, Rachel, got married ~ 5 yr. ago, and he has another son and daughter that are not married...in fact, he left Sunday to take his youngest daughter, Jessica, to start college in Fl. I had better post this before I hit escape again! Kathy

Happy 56th birthday in September to Kent, Bobbie, Francis, Tom and Wayne!

Happy Birthday to all the September birthdays. As you can see, the birthdays are now automated so if you have your birthday on your profile, it will show up automatically.

Also, I added a "This day in History" page. There will be a test at the end of each month. Study hard.

Ruth, I am still waiting for the pictures from the mini reunion. I never received the 1st grade picture if you sent it.

Hey, Francis ~~ 56 is just a number! Birthdays are just another day of the week....when you get as "old" as we are.

The best way to stay young is spend time with the grandchildren!....We're still waiting for baby Ava, any day now.
