Thanks to all of you who dropped me a note saying you listened to my radio show Hoosier Preps eXceL this past Wednesday night on XL950.
We are doing 13 football shows to begin with and if you can't pick it up on your dial 950AM then if you wish too can listen at www.xl950.com.........there is also a link there to make your comments........
The Lord truely has blessed me and mine!

Dan Roark: Is Chris Sanders on your profile the same one that played at North Knox?
Folks if he is.....when he graduated he was truely one of the best 50 kids we had in this state while playing basketball...while he was a very good player...he was a better young man.

I also send Happy Birthday wishes to all Sept. birthdays, about time you are catching up with all the rest of us 56 yr. olds.

Dick, I did send you a picture (copy of mine) of the Freelandville first grade class, guess it got lost on the pony express. My return address was on it so who knows where it will end up. The F'vill girls had a nice visit with Kathy, so glad you could fit us in your time schedule, Kathy. I do have pics but have been busy & have not downloaded them yet. In time!!:)

If you have not seen Judy lately, she looks the same as the picture, be nice if we all could say that.

That Freelandville 1st grade class photo ? Is that the one that was taken outdoors in the front of the school ?

I told Debbie one time, that it would be nice if we could somehow, get everyone together and take a current photo of all of us posing in the same positions that we did in that 1st grade pic. A then & now photo.

Steve - yes to your question about Chris and I'll let him know about your gracious comments. (we're hoping grandson Joel will be 3-4 inches taller than his daddy. He already has nice form on his jumper & won't be 2 until October!!!)

Check out the announcement board on the home page. There is a note from Don Dyer on his quitting smoking after 37 years. Congratulations Don. If anyone else is trying to quit, maybe Don can tell you how he did it. I am lucky I never started. I drink too many Diet Cokes, tea and coffee, and had I ever started smoking, I probably would have become very addicted.

Way to go Don Dyer......now that must have been quite the undertaking.....I don't smoke but how did you do it?
I have some friends who could use the help!

CONGRATS DON!!!!! That is probably the single most healthy action a person can take at any age....it had to be gruesome to quit, but so worth the effort..

The majority of us seem to have grandchildren so here is a question to all of you....
When my first one came along I was only 41....when Christian could speak he called me grandpa....yikes....so to be vain.....i really didn't feel like a grandpa......so we (the ex) and I let him choose another name he chose Stevepa for me and nanna for his grandmother.......anyone else have that happen to them?

This message from Kim Schroeder:

I suppose everyone knows that the NK Alumni is this coming weekend September 12-13, 2008. I'm not sure of all the details but I know there is a gathering at the Homecoming football game on Friday night, a golf outing on Saturday morning and a mixer/Dance on Saturday night at the Bruceville Rod & Gun Club with Tim & the Tomcats playing.

Happy Belated Birthday to Bobbie !! Happy Birthday to you today, Francis. Congrats to Steve for kicking his smoking habit - I have only witnessed how difficult that process is. Great picture of the Freelandville girls...I am envious of your reunion. Then, all of you with grand kids...you must be the luckiest people in the world!! I am currently Aunt Ju-Ju to my favorite little person..and I can't believe how much this great nephew has brought into my life.

RE: Warriorette picture
My first reaction was "Oh my!"
However, I can't believe the flood of memories this has brought to me. (Thanks, Rich) I "tried out" for Warriorettes prior to my Freshman year in front of Mr. Duncan and Sherry ? (captain at that time). From that very first day, Mr. Duncan instilled in me/us the importance of pride for North Knox, privilege of being a member of the band, and the respect that he commanded. He was very strict, very talented and hardworking, and incredibly proud of our band and our school.( I don't think he always rec'd the credit he deserved). That picture reminded me of all of that - as being in that uniform, we represented not only the band but we represented North Knox. Just from his example (then later, that of Mrs. Skeens), and that of fellow band members, I knew I really wanted to be an important part of that group of people. There was just a special kinship within the band ...school spirit, band camp, practices (& more practices), trips (lots of bus time), parades, football games, lots of fun, mischief, friendships...Well, to say the least, I was just proud to be a part of that.

Well, at the outset of Dick's website, this white-haired old geezer had the courage (and it took some deep, deep thought) to post a current photograph of myself........thinking everyone had aged considerably.
But now, I see this pic of these "hot lookin" Freelandville ladies and I'm feeling pretty bad. You girls don't appear to have aged at all..............and my, you're so thin !
Could we see photos of some of the rest of you ? Preferably a "bad" picture so I will feel a little better about myself.

I received this note from Phyllis: I hope she doesn't mind my sharing it with you.

Mark, my husband, and I have spent most of the day preparing for the visit from Ike. All of the things that we could move upstairs are now on the second floor. We have five 5 gal. containers of water stored in our bathtub. The mayor of Friendswood and sent all residents a message to stay put and prepare for electric outages and high winds up to 50 mph. Mark has a hotel room reserved for us about 30 miles away and close to where he works. In the morning at 7 a.m. we will make the decision to leave or stay. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.

Phyllis,
Remember, we are thinking & praying for your safety in this terrible hurricane. Please let us know you are safe.

Freelandville Classmates,
Miss Ruth looks very angry in this picture! Do you think someone made her upset? Actually, we all look a little shy and I love the clothes:)

Thanks for everyone's good wishes for Ava!

Tom - We met and talked with Alonzo the Magnificent Magician (aka Robin Overbey) today at Old Town Players cabaret show, "Carnival Capers". He's a hoot, no matter what part he takes on. Today he even sang a solo.
