Wait a minute, remember at Vincennes one night, at the intersection of College & 6th St....... KC Sheriff car pulls up beside you & me in the turning lane, waiting for the light to change ? As we sit there, trying not to look guilty, we slowly sneak a peek out of the corner of our eye at the Sheriff's car and lo & behold, Robert's #2 son and The Worm are in custody in the backseat of the KC Sheriff's car !!! LOL

Sorry, Summy. When you "gotta go, you gotta go" ! Just picked wrong spot to go. Should have just stayed "safe & sound" at the Drive-In Theatre. Let's see now...........did we ever pay Alan "Uppercrust" Kixmiller back that $50 ?

Just exactly how much of Dick Finke's white fence do you own ???

My stomach hurts, I'm laughing so hard ....!!!

Too many stories.....Tractor tires rolling from behind IH.......Joe's old P/U taking out mail boxes and Doc's fence............State Trooper called from "his shower" in Jasper to go to F-ville to quell the disturbance. Boy, he was p.o. !!!!! Grump accidently taking out the big IH fuel tank behind the hotel with the "51 Plymouth........Hotel resident "Crazy Jenny" Harbin screaming...."it's gonna blow...it's gonna blow !!!" Grump says (in his low key, monotone voice)..."just shut up, Jenny" Late nights at the Brooks Hotel on Saturday watching Sammy Terry Nightmare Theatre, then Big Time Championship Wrestling !!! Dick "The Bruiser" ruled ! "Sunshine" pulling up at Telligman Station with Corvette bus 3:00am on Sat. night coming from Lamey's...maybe had "tad" too many. OMG, don't het started on the Lamey's stories....Crisco is still banned from Gibson County. We really should get up to Linton and see "Crisco", next chance we get. Rick "Apple" Wilson told me Crisco's diabetes is getting him down.

I hope it wasn't .......me?

You remember that night club there at 6th & St. Clair, where Alicetown Rest. was ? What was that called ? That's where Earl The Pearl "got gooped" !

Wait a minute...was it Bill Schroeder and future wife Jean Miller, who told us about supposed party at Steve Jones' apt. ? So, it was all Jean's fault that night !!!!!!

I recall there was a reason we ran every one of those stop signs. It's called not wanting to get our butts kicked for talking to SK dudes' girlfriends !

OK Summy. Sing along with me (to the tune of Howdy Doody Time)....."It's... Woody Woodbury Time, It's Woody Woodbury Time......" Good times at Bob Green's Executive Inn Lounge seeing Woody Woodbury. Remember we tried to get Woody to sit down and have a beer with us ? Then, went to try to find his room to have a drink ? LOL Also, an unexpected dip in the pool at the end of the night. It's a wonder they didn't throw us out of there ! OMG, they did, didn't they !! LOL...LOL...LOL You know, Bob Green grew up here on Happy St. ? He was best friends with my grandpa. Summy, Do you remember those Gartner girls of South 6th St. Rd. ? Think we crashed into the back of their '65 Galaxie (white rag-top) in front of The Shef one night (their fault). Charlotte Gartner was "not very pretty". As our now departed old buddy Phillip Rinsch would say..."the ugly tree fell on her" !!! Charlotte is now married to Don Fredrick of Fredrick-Dusterburg Funeral Home. I ran into her a couple years ago....she remembered us from way back then. ! Sorry to say, she must do a lot of walking in the woods, as it appears several more ugly trees have fallen on her in the last 35 years or so !! LOL

Summy, Are you sure you don't want me to send some of those pictures to Dick to post here ? Summy, Just popped into my head. The Lion's Club Banquet at the Holiday Inn ???? Miller tells that one better than anybody. He was sitting next to Bill-Boy at the time. Will save that story for another time.

Tom, I am waiting on the pictures.

Mike, I thought you couldn't type. You and Tome were on a roll last night. I think you two should write a book.

Leslie, you are welcome and I am glad you got your picture up. I have some more pictures Leslie sent me that I will post over time.

Dick, Just goes to show everyone how lonely, pathetic and boring my life is, that I have nothing better to do on a Saturday night, than sit at home in my room by myself remembering things that happened 30 plus years ago. I am a sorry case ! As far as a book....hmmmmmmmmm ? We are open to offers of a book deal or a movie deal, if Hollywood should call. Mel Gibson can play me. Tom Cruise will be Summy. I am going through boxes and boxes of pics and more boxes as we speak. Just get the OK from Summytime ! I have purchased a new scanner and ready, willing and able. Will also be reving-up my profile page with some action motorcycle photos from years gone by. Did nobody here, except one person, appreciate my new musical selections ? I will be adding more soon. Well, gotta go to Sullivan to work for awhile this afternoon...talk tonight.

Tom, I'm just amazed at the chatter between you and your cohorts. I honestly thought you guys were shy and quiet. What's the scoop on Wayne boberg? I just got off the phone with my girlfriend Drucy. She graduated Lincoln '70 I met her when I went to work at the Beer Garden In Vincennes. We both had this "thing" for music and I told her to visit our website and click on your profile. However i do miss hearing the Duprees I loved that song. I really freaked out when I saw my all time favorite on your list Time won't let me by the Outsiders.
I remember a song that the Corvettes came out with once that I truly did love and would love to get one of their CD's. Can't remeber the song but I think maybe they said My Pleadge of Love to you, My Pledge of Love to you.darlin darlin darlin (that's all i remember.) Oh geeze maybe I should ask my niece Kristina afterall her Dad is Sonny Kixmiller

Leslie, No one ever mentions my "playlist" on the Homepage. I think the songs are pretty good. Tom thought they were horrible. I look forward to hearing more of Tom's playlist songs though.

I'll burn you a copy and send it to you . This cd is Rex narrating a brief history of each recording they made.

Pat, Do you think Rex would allow us to put any music on this site?

01/11/09 01:47 PM #541

Leslie Jones (Palcovic)

Pat, does that song sound familiar to you? It just keeps running through my head and i can't stop it. Let me give you my address in las Vegas. I'm hoping to be able to head back sometime this week.

I agree with you about the Hash House YUMMY!!! and a man size portion at that.

Leslie Jones (Palcovic)

Rich, I did just click on to those tunes and they are great. I think the reason I never really got into that section was because i was so in tears after watching the lion story. I'm sure I've watched that 10 times and cry every time.

Which reminds me of Gran torino. I'm sitting watching this movie and I couldn't believe how much laughing I did. I just don't equate laughter in the same sceniro with Clint Eastwood. But there's some funny lines and can't help but laugh. The at the end, there couldn't be a dry eye in the house. FABULOUS Movie. Well I also cried at 7 pounds, maybe I'm just a cry baby. I thought that movie was incredible.

Dick
I really don't know, but I will find out.

Leslie
I really don't recognize the words, the only song that resembles the words that you are talking about, in my opinion is, Our Love Won't End, in the key of E, by the way, but I could be wrong, I just don't remember. In the Corvette reunions over the years we did most of the songs but not all. You will be able to judge for yourself, I'll get the disk on the way as soon as possible.

Tom I was going over some of the stories you and your friends were hashing out last night. I came across the question about the night club. Was that a Vincennes night club? I remember The Speak Easy (it was behind the Manhattan) same building but stairs led up to it in the back. The Riverfront was the only other place i remember sneaking into.

Dick Your song playlist is not horrible. They are just not "my cup of tea !!! Leslie, I was going to call Rex about advertising his Corvette History CD for sale on this site. Instead, Patrick "Music Pirate" Grabbe has offered to burn you a copy. Isn't that called copyright infringement ??? I will have to alert Rex so he can get ASCAP on Pat's butt ! There is a song called Pledge Of Love, but not a Corvette recording. The Duprees' song is still on my current music player, which BTW, for those of you do not take the time to listen (apparently you, Leslie !!!), is called TOP 10 "MOONLIGHT SKATE" SONGS OF 1964 AT THE BICKNELL SKATING RINK. You do remember the Moonlight Skate and that cheezy looking moon at the far end of the floor ? Another Bicknell girl and I discussed this at length last week. She was impressed with my selections....I thought everyone would be. She even has Bobby Vinton and Little Anthony & the Imperials albums !!! I recall my Mom's women's club would have skating parties at the Skating Rink. I remember Bobby Vinton's 1963 hit Blue Velvet playing during the Moonlight Skate. Sorry to say, I had nobody to skate with (sad face). The nightclub we were talking about was at the corner of 6th & St. Clair, was originally The Alicetown Rest. It had to have been opened in 1972, as we were under age. We would enter with Allan "Uppercrust" Kixmiller (Sonny's brother) so our cute, young, baby faces wouldn't stand out !! Place was not very big. Band played in the front window which faced 6th Street. Was not open long. As far as mine and Summy's stories go, we honestly have not even scratched the surface yet. Trouble is, some of the really funny ones are not fit for this site !! I talked with Wayne via e-mail a few months ago. He is aware of this site. I think he values his privacy. Wayne did make a couple comments at Dick';s old NK70 site, when those 1966 Sandborn Bluejays tried to say they lost the 1966 NK Championship game to the Fightin' Dutch because Moon was sick that night. Boberg checked the newspaper clipping in his gameroom and reported back there was no mention that Sandborn would have won if Moon had been there !!!!! LOL Better look out, Roark and Moon will probably be chiming in with their Bluejay propaganda when they read this. I friend of mine told me, she talked with Moon last week and he had some comments on my participation at this site. Think you could talk Summy into letting me use some pictures on this site. Actually, there really nothing wrong with them. Just some partying, etc... I ran across some pics of myself. DAMN ! Can't believe what the years have done to me. Thought about creating a "chronological history" of myself in pictures at my page. You know, from young kid to old geezer....what do you think ? I think all would get a good laugh out of my "rapid transformation" to old age !!!!! GRAB: Key of E.....what are you, a guitar picker or something ? !! Intro: E - D Verse: E - A flat minor - A - B.....E - D - B - A - B - E - D flat minor - A - B Out-tro: A - B - E - D flat minor. If you need anymore help, feel free to ask !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I know, I left out the bridge) "Our Love Won't End" (Bee Dee Records)(N. Long - composer) Went to #7 on WJPS-1330-AM Evansville in the spring of 1966. Remember it well...another fond memory of our 8th grade year. Corvettes played it that summer at the Freelandville Centennial Celebration dance in the school yard......Rex filling in on organ for the late Mike Blythe. Another recollection from Mr. Memory !! Good old OPEN E CHORD.....what would we do without it. Makes any song or any player sound good !!

Tom, I always enjoy your writings. My question is how do you type that fast? I'm working on that night club. I did send Rich a bunch of pictures. Some I said you might use some not, but new pictures on the web site keep it interesting. I sent several pictures of my years in Hawaii. One of the pictures I sent him was my first visit to Waikiki Beach and I got a terrible burn. I layed naked on the floor for 3 days and couldn't even walk. So one of the pictures I forwarded was me laying on the floor with my big butt in the air. Lu and I had a conversation about that picture and we said what if Rich posted that picture and we had a contest to "Name that Butt" and everyone voted it was mine. I'm still laughing over that one. I mentioned that to Rich he thought that was funny just unsure how people would react. But really it's funny when you put it into prospective.

I was reading some of the old mesages last night and there was a section about when President Kennedy was shot and for sure your granpa came in our 6th grade class and told Ms.Caldwell. Then I started remembering how we use to take a count in the morning and would report to the kitchen how many in each class would be eating lunch. I can even remember Michael Land got his own meal because he developed an ulcer I think in 7th grade. Then I remember your Grandmother being one of the cooks. Was her name Bess? I just remember whenever we had potato soup she always let me have 2 bowls because I liked it so much. Man it's strange the things we remember.

LESLIE My Grandma was Esther Albrecht, head cook. You are thinking of Bess Richardson. Remember the old eraser cleaner outside the kitchen.......in the furnace room ? Best excuse in the world for getting out of class...to go clean the erasers !!! Before they tore down the school in 1975, we took one last stroll through the building. Started at our 1st grade room and worked our way up to the old 8th grade room and assembly hall. Think I might have shed a tear walking out the door for the final time. Recall how "alive" the building was during a basketball game. Smell of popcorn out in the hallway. Can fondly recall in 1964, getting out of class to go to the assembly hall to watch Cards vs. Yankees World Series final game. (Remember afternoon World Series games !!) Hall of Famer Bob Gibson on the mound for the Redbirds. Can also remember you cheerleaders riding on the team bus to an away game....Bicknell, or some place (??). On the way home, you and I were holding hands on the bus. Wooooooooooooo!!! Coach Roche tore my head off next day for that !! (Lighten up..........Chuck !!) Oh yes, Leslie.... you asked me how I type that fast ? Well, you see, unlike Mr. Summers, I actually learned to type in Miss Jordan's class, instead of wasting my time staring at her fingernails......and other parts of her anatomy.

Luellen Byrer (Miller)

Speaking of our old schools - during a recent conversation with my mom, I told her about the 1st grade picture Leslie posted on this site. So we reminisced about the old school/gym. She remembered that the Bicknell Bulldogs football players (and opposing teams) all went to West Side gym to dress before games and then ran down Vigo Street to Hooper field (6 blocks). After games they went back (maybe not running tho' - lol) for showers . Would kids to that today? no way.

Tom,
I only had your Granmothers name wrong i still remember her sweet little face. Boy those Freelandville memories make for the best. I also remember seeing on messages I read last night your were playing the bus driver name game. Well my bus drivers name was Carl Mackey and on days that he couldn't drive it was Delmar Loheider (Mike's Dad). I remember at basketball games whenever Wayne got to shoot a free throw Debbie got to do the cheer. Then when you got the free throw I got to do the cheer with my cartwheel and split and I always remeber thinking I hope my little blue tights didn't have a hole.
What about your brother Bill?
