Thanks Kathy, I only shared this because I thought some may be interested. It was an experience I could have done without in my life. On the 18th of January every year, I take a moment to remember that time. I am not sure if what we did was right or wrong. We were only doing what we were trained to do and luckily everyone in my squadron came home.

Dick I just watched the Desert Storm slideshow. Can't imagine what you were feeling and the thoughts going through your mind on the 16 hour flight over there. But I do know what you were feeling when you arrived back in the U.S.A. I too, had a tear in the corner of my eye when I saw the photo of Dick & Marge and your family. On my job, I meet many people in a day's time.....when the subject comes up, I always bring up your story. I couldn't be prouder to call you my life-long friend.

Rich, That was an awesome experience to share with us. You looked so like the all american family, and the one picture of your Mother,(showing her face) looked just as I remembered her looking.

Ever since that plane went down I keep thinking about your wife and children and how hard that must be for them when you walk out the door to go to work. Then I realized you had been military prior so they have already learned to be tough. Please give Ann my regards and special thanks for all she done for you.

God Bless American, and please bring our Troops home safely.

To everyone: I must tell you all this before it slips my mind. Not meant to be humerous, just make you think...as I did. Last weekend, Dick talked to me about having me create my own page at his website. I agreed (kind of) . OK, enough said about that. During our conversation, he told me if anything ever happen to him, he wanted me to take over control & editing of his NK70 website. Of course, I never took him seriously. Nothing is going to happen, right ? Then came news of the plane crash on Thursday and for several hours, I did not have any information on the crash, other than it was a US AIR Airbus 320, enroute to Charlotte. OMG, you can imagine what I was thinking ! Why had Dick asked me to take over his website ? Did he have a vision that something was going to happen ? Thankfully, within a couple hours we had the full account of what had happened. Dick was safe at home. For awhile though, I was kinda shook up......

My sympathy goes out to Ruth Wesner and her family on the death of her mother, Neva. My thoughts and prayers are with Ruth & the family during this difficult time.

My thoughts are also with Ruth and her family tonight.

Tom, I will have to admit that I thought about the same thing. I think I said that if I croak or something, I want someone to have the password for the website. You just never know when it all might end. That is why I like this website. It is good to talk to old friends because when we go, we go. Anyway, I thought that was strange Tom, that I sent you that message. If I had been on that plane, everyone would have thougth I had a vision.

You mentioned "my web site". It certainly is not my website, and over time, I hope to pass it from person to person, if anyone else wants to take it over someday. Right now, I am having fun with it, but if I have burnout as Tom knows from the Freelandville site, I will pass it on.

I just got the news of Neva's passing. Since I bought my house in 1976 here on Happy Street, it has been just that....a happy street thanks to neighbors like Fritz & Neva.

Hi Everyone,
I was concerned when I saw the tail of a plane sticking out of the water that said USair. I didn't know anything about the wreck at the time, I had just turned on the TV. My heart stopped. I am so thankful that it wasn't Rich. It took several minutes of watching before the pilot's name was given. It was amazing to learn that no lives were lost. It looked really bad.
I love having this website, it is a great way to reconnect with people.... thanks, Rich!

Does anyone know if Mrs. Wesner is related to Jim Wesner? Jim Wesner was in my class and I worked with at the Edwardsport Generating Station prior to my retirement.

Just wondering?

Thanks!!

Yes Henry, Ruth is married to Jim Wesner. Ruth is a frequent contributor to our site.

Mike, Thanks for the great pictures on your profile page. You are correct. That is what it is all about.

Rich,

Thanks for the clarification on Ruth and Jim Wesner. I thought that might be the case.

On another note, I wanted to comment on your classmate Pamela Meier who grew up in Edwardsport. Pam is my first cousin and is married to Ed Owens. Pam and Ed have two sons and Pam and Ed live in Bicknell. I don't have her an address or email address, but I passed the information about this website along to her sister Darlene (Meier)Bement who also lives in Bicknell.

Thanks.

As you can tell by the time on this post it is late, can't sleep and I needed to read some chatter and I can sure find it here. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and concern in the loss of our Mom. She fought a hard battle but it was not to be. As we age so do our parents and we are never ready to give them up. I have been lucky to have her this long. Thanks again.

Dick, I had to call your Mom Thurs. just to make sure you were not the pilot. Was told you had called her & not working. Thankful all are safe.

Dick In case your Mom hasn't relayed the news to you, W.R. "Rhiney" Kixmiller's old home burned to the ground Friday morning. Only thing left standing is the brick front porch. A bit of a landmark in our city, you might say. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....I have to assume Leslie is on the road back to Las Vegas, as she had planned, since I have not heard from her today. Ruth, my deepest sympathies to you and your family on the passing of your mother, Neva. May God grant you peace and bless you with her memories. She was a very special person and will be missed by many.

Rich, thanks for sharing your Desert Storm experience. I didn't know you were a part of that. So glad you made it home safely. And you look so young, just a baby, to be going off to battle. God bless the USA. It's still the best place in the world to live.

i>Tom, Thanks for the great first edition of "Tink's Music Corner". I love music, but know nothing about it and have absolutely zero musical ability. I can remember your band on the porch of Bill Posey practicing in the 6o's which was the porch and house where my Grandma Finke had lived before the Poseys. I believe you all were practicing GLORIA. I was amazed at how you all were able to do that. I believe Sam was on the keyboard and Tom, I believe you were on the base, and I believe Pat was singing. Anyway, I was impressed. I knew that was not my thing because I had no ability. I believe that performing before a big crowd must be an unimaginable high. Dick I guess you noticed I took out a subscription at good, old reliable Homestead.com. Homestead has a bigger variety of editing tools to use, when building my page. I did what I could with the page you gave me to use, then linked my Homestead page to your site. Next month's featured band at Tink's Music Corner will be Gary Lewis & The Playboys. I saw Gary Lewis in person in about 1988. It was at a dinner theatre type venue. We got lucky and got a table right up front, butted up next to center stage ! I could reach out and touch Gary Lewis. Gary was playing an old Beatle tune called Slow Down. I had possibly had one to many drinks....at the end of the song I yelled out to Gary..."slow down, Gary !" He turned around and looked right at me and said...."I'm tryin' man, I'm tryin'....." That was my brush with greatness ! I didn't know your Grandma Finke had lived in the Posey house previously. I believe her name was Emma....correct ? I remember her living there on Hwy. 58, next to Whitey Hollingsworth. When I was in Jr. High, I delivered the Bicknell Daily News to her. BTW, I used the money from my paper route to buy my Fender Bassman amplifier.......top of the line equipment !! As far as band practice at Bill Posey's house, if we were at Posey's, then Bill would have been playing keyboards. Sam was relieved of his duties as organist, because Bill had a Hammond organ and Fender Super Reverb amp. This is still a sore subject with Sam to this day. I felt bad about it, but we did what was best for the band. Note of interest: Bill Posey had the one and only radio station ever to broadcast in Freelandville. He built a radio transmitter and we could pick up his broadcast on AM radio across the street at Joe Bedwell's house. Don't believe he had an FCC license !!! LOL Yes, Gloria was one of our bread & butter songs.......even nowdays. I sat in with Rex, Pat and the Reunion band at the Freelandville High School Alumni Dance a few years ago and one of the songs we played was........you guessed it...GLORIA !!! Not sure we ever played infront of any huge crowds. LOL It was always nice if the crowd was into it. I remember (here goes that amazing memory again) playing behind the Taste Treet one time and saw Kim McMahon dancing to our music and really enjoying it. Uh, you wanta know what song she was dancing to ? I remember it...honestly. LOL It was Give Me, Give Me Good Lovin' by a one-hit wonder band called Crazy Elephant. I believe it was popular in 1968. OK, I'll quit showing off my memory, now !! Tom

Tom, I just watched & listened to "Tink's Music Corner". AMAZING!!!!! I think I'm a little like Dick, I love music but don't know much about the background except to listen to it. Thanks for all the effort to put this together. I haven't heard or thought of the Beatles for a long time. Thanks for bringing the memory back:)

Tom, Your site is wonderful. Now here's a challenge for you. Since I'm one of your biggest fans listening to your music, my favorite song of all my favorite songs is by the Bee Gees entitled "Love you Inside and Out. If you can post that song somewhere, I'll buy your drinks all night at our next reunion. Pat, I got my package and I thank you very much for your time and trouble. While I was driving I kept thinking about the song you mentioned "Our love won't end" I suddenly remembered a part of that song and it goes...They say that absence, makes the heart grow fonder. I haven't listened to the tape yet but for me to remember that, it must have been my favorite part. thanks again!!!! BEE GEES ??? Please say your not serious.....OMG, that is embarrasing. I might have to start denying you were once my girlfriend !! (OK, I took about five minutes to compose myself and calm down a bit LOL.) I will try to find and post that song by those Bee Gee guys..........

Tom,

Before you have a heart attack or something it's not the whole Bee Gee scene, just the one song.
