It has been quiet on the Message Forum. I have been in St. Croix for the last 6 days trying not to get too sunburned. Only a couple of posts since I have been gone. I will post some pictures of my trip when I get them from my son. The only thing we did not do was see the beer drinking pig on the west end of the island. He drinks beer after beer by just cruching the can and drinking it down. The first pig that did this was 800 pounds and died of liver problems. They are now on their 3rd pig I believe. I hope everyone is doing well. We still need pictures to keep our site interesting. I hope everyone has a great summer.

St Croix Beer Drinking Pig.

Not sure I agree with it, but I guess he is a Happy pig and better than ending up in bacon.

Norman, Thanks for the great picture of people leaving Saigon. What an amazing sight. I am not sure of the individual's name, but one of the young people that left Viet Nam was a young man who went on the graduate number one in his class at the Air Force Academy. It just amazes me that someone could come to the US, not speak English, and then go on to finish number one in his class at the Academy.

Tom, We need some help on this one. I was looking at the Vincennes Remember when Facebook site and came across this picture of Red Garrett. He undoubtedly made the big time in the early 50's at the Grand Old Opry. Alcohol got the better of him though and he drowned in the Wabash river in 1978. I don't remember him. Undoubtedly he played for change on the street corners of Vincennes near the Post Office. There is a YouTube video of his music if anyone is interested. Here is the link to his picture on Facebook.

Rich, I was just looking at Harrisons photo album on Facebook but where's Erin?

Erin had to work and could not go. She stayed at our home and watched our dog Lexie. Wish she could have joined us.

Congrats to Grandma & Grandpa Schroeder. Don't know much of Red Garrett, other than what I have read at Facebook (Vincennes Remember When Group). BTW, being a local history buff, I am fascinated by the old photos (824 last count) at the VRWG Facebook page. Every once in awhile I run across a photo of something that stirs up a memory in my mind (and I have not even reached pic #200 yet). It is amazing how much Vincennes has changed over the years and is still changing. As I drive down 6th street today, it is hard for me to picture it as it was just a few short years ago. If you have not checked out these old photos, Dick put a link at one of his posts on page 40 of this message forum. Sorry, I have not been here much of late. My work schedule is a bit on the heavy side these days.

On the home page, click on the picture of the Vincennes Adams Coliseum. That will take you to the Vincennes Remember When Page. You do not have to be a Facebook member to look at these pictures. Then click on "See All Photos". Then you can start looking at all 800 plus pictures. I will leave that link on the home page so it will be easy to get to.

Congrats. Jean/Bill - grandparenting is GREAT (especially when grandma does all the "dirty" work)!!!

Cathy & Allan - great picture, and congratulations on 26 years of wedded bliss!

Rich, thanks for putting up the graduation announcement. Someone just asked me today if I remembered the date of graduation (no - lol - but she remembered hers from 40 years ago). Now I won't have to go and dig it out of a box to find out. And you're right, where did the years go? The days, they are a passin' - faster and faster.

Speaking of music, oh, were we speaking of music? No, well anyway I found the perfect station to have on at work (mainly so no one is offended but also because they play oldies you just don't hear much). Don't laugh - it's 1580 AM, yes! AM! Not quite elevator music, lol. I went to their website to see if you can listen online, but so far they don't have that option. I did read that the station will be moving to 95.9 sometime in the future. So, for now, only you local people can give it a try, or do a search to see if a station near you plays what they call "Timeless Favorites".

Thanks for all the congratulations on being grandparents. Luke is still in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. He is no longer in the critical care unit. He has advanced to the intermediate care. The kids finally got to hold the baby yesterday!! They were excited! He is finally showing improvement in his breathing rate & his oxygen level is almost normal. They were able to take some pictures yesterday and I will try to post some soon. He may be in the hospital for another week or longer. Keep them in your thoughts & prayers. Thanks! The fields have dried in some areas and they will try to plant a little today. Maybe rain will hold off for a while. As you can tell, everyone is busy between the hospital & fieldwork.

Jean, We are all waiting on the pictures of Luke and hope he continues to improve. I believe Brenda DeWeese is also a new Grandparent. I saw some pictures on Facebook. I will try to get some pictures.

Patty Barnes, a former classmate until our senior year has asked to join our site. Welcome, Patty. Please join in.

I took some pictures today while flying from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. That route takes me right over the Center, known as Freelandville. If any are good, I will post them on the site.

Tom, There is a picture on the Vincennes Remember When Group that shows Chuck Roach racing some cars in Terre Haute. Do you think that is Mr. Roach? None of the pictures turned out all that good of the "Center" It was very bright and was hard to see much.

Dick, A very special Happy Birthday to your dad!!! Also, enjoyed the video of Redondo Beach!!! I thought I was right there at the ocean. Very peaceful :)!! The grandbaby, Luke, is slowly improving. I'm going down to Evansville this afternoon to be with Melissa & Luke. Kent is coming home to help do fieldwork. More later.

RE: CHUCK ROACH He spells his name ROCHE. If the car racer spells it ROACH, then it is not our Coach Roche. BTW, I still have not got past picture #200 at the Vincennes Remember When Facebook page. Too busy. I just now got home and have to get back up to go to work at 2:00am. Good night !!!!

I will try to keep this short. If this the change we are all suppose to believe in, God help us. By the way Nancy Pelosi has to go. I promise not to get too political on this site but once or twice a year. Did I mention that Nancy Pelosi has to go. Good night

Calm down Pat. You sound frustrated. I would love to have some discussions on all kinds of subjects on our site, but I am afraid I would upset former classmates. If anyone is brave enough to tackle some heavy subjects, go ahead. I would love to hear everyone's views on all kinds of topics.

Brenda Deweese let me put her Facebook album of Parker on our home page. I hope you enjoy. We are waiting on Jean's pictures of Luke.

I am with Pat !!! Did you know that when Nancy "The Liar" Pelosi flys home to her home in California, she demands (read that as pressures) the Air Force for the top of the line plane. If she doesn't get the plane she wants she throws a fit. Each trip home to California with her "people" costs the taxpayers (you and me) $120,000 !!! Did you know that in her public stance, she supports workers' rights and labor unions. In reality, she and her husband's business employs 1200 workers and every attempt to unionize these employees has been visiously beaten down by Pelosi !! May God help us if something should ever happen that VP Joe Biden should become president !!!! The only good thing is that in the next terrorist attack (and it will happen with Obama's "can't we all just get along policy") , the terrorist will know where Biden is hiding, as he stupidly told the world where the Vice Presidential bunker is located. What a moron !! OK, I'll shut up......Grab, you take over. BTW, I ran into Rex on Wed. He has a hot gig playing the Fox Ridge Retirement Community home each month !!!

Brenda Sue Holmes (Deweese)

Congratulations, Bill and Jean. Isn't being a grandparent fun! I took my parents to Jay's in Zionsville today to see the baby. I am praying for Luke to be well and released. Tell Kent and Melissa hello for me and let them know we are keeping them in our thoughts. Jay's wife is doing better... her spine was nicked during the epidural and she had to go back to the hospital last Sunday for another blood patch. I was up there for 4 days last week taking care of them and loved every minute of it!
