By the way, I have'nt been called "Christy" since 1970. It brings me back to my youth. Think I like it.

Phyllis Johanningsmeier (Montgomery) is moving back to IN from Texas this month. I received the following note from her recently. Phyllis, I hope the move goes well. Hopefully you won't find any Hurricanes in IN.

As of June 27th Mark and I will be moving to Chesterton, Indiana. Our address will be 311 Water Tower Drive. Mark is being transferred to the BP Whiting Plant, however, he will continue to work in in Houston, Texas for a month or so. Our son, Aaron, and his wife, Sarah, live in Wisconsin. Our daughter, Amber, and her husband, Kent, live in West Virginia. We seem to be scattered to the winds, however, we have great places to visit.

Dick...if I could only whistle through the internet:) How brave, I keep those kind of pictures hidden away. LOL

Your mom told me they put you & Harrison to work while you were here. Said you got a few things done. Are you coming back next week to mow the yard again??

So Christina, what do the friends call you now...Chris or Christina? See what happens when you revert back almost 40 years!!

Dick I am on vacation next week, so don't worry about stopping by to mow my yard. I can do it myself ! Have you visited the Facebook Vincennes Indiana Remember When Group lately ? I asked Norbert to add Freelandville as one of the "discussion topics". Over 800 members currently. I talked with Francie Kixmiller's neice at the Freelandville discussion board. Did you see the aerial photos of Vincennes from the late 1930's ? Very interesting. BTW, if you have not heard the news yet, we had some excitement Thursday in Freelandville. I have not got all the details. Maybe Jean or Ruth have more info ? Two of our local drug dealers (one that lives in Walter & Gladts Ritterskamp's old house)apparently had a disagreement. One the "low-lifes" pulled out a gun and fired off a few shots at the other "scumbag". I heard the rumor that there was a girlfriend that was being held hostage...not sure about that. When I came home from work, the intersection was blocked off and there were anywhere from 7 to 10 (depending on who you talk to) Ind. State Police cruisers sitting in the middle of Hwy. 58 about where Milt's gas station is. I know they arrested these druggies, but don't have any details. Anyone know exactly what went on ? (Just set my alarmclock for 2:00am........goodnight !!!!)

Jean Ann Miller (Schroeder)

Tom, It is 10 P.M. and I just got in from mowing part of my lawn. The rest will wait until tomorrow!!! And you have already hit the sack! As to details about the excitement uptown, way to many versions of the story to repeat. Maybe Ruth has the low down. I heard it was one of her neighbors sons that they arrested. What ever happened to our quiet little town!!! Almost every resident was out on the street trying to find out what was happening! Rumors were it looked just like a TV show with cops hidden behind trees and along their cars with their guns drawn... Christy, Sorry, you will be Christy at least one more time! That's all I ever heard you called. Glad to hear from you. I've always liked your maiden name!!!LOL FYI....Last night I got to babysit for a few hours by myself. It felt a little strange. We got along great even if he was supposed to sleep the whole time they were gone.

Heard yesterday that Alisa Meyer's mother, Mary June, passed away on Thurs. Info should be in the Vin. paper Sunday. Thoughts & prayers are with Alisa. Our parents were good friends when we were young & have known Lisa since childhood.

Why does all the excitement happen In Freelandville after I leave town from work?? There were many different stories floating around the shop Fri. and none were the same. I heard as many as 12 cop cars in town. Even talked to some neighbors of Tiny's and they weren't even sure what went on. The young "scumbag" involved did live across from the shop, so glad they moved "uptown" from me. Heard him one day screaming obscenities at his mom & throwing furniture around in the house...really has a temper. Does anyone know if they are all out of jail ready to go for round two?? Was anyone arrested for drugs or just for the assult? I guess the place to be was Milt's old station...but I heard the cops had them move...to the old Kixmiller store parking lot! Do you think Hollywood is calling:)lol

"Bad boys, bad boys, watcha gonna do......." Hopefully, Tiny and the "Scumbag" are out of jail so they can continue what is being called "the shootout at the intersection". One can only hope that this time around their aim will be more on target, ridding our village of these two morons. ----------------------------------------------- Mike Summers is another year older today and another year grouchier ! Happy Birthday, Summingston ! ---------------------------------------------- I officially start my vacation today. Gonna do some mowin', some trimmin', some fixin' and some cleanin'. In between will be cheering on the Oaktown Little League team. Yes, Hunter is playing for those Oakies again this summer, due to Freelandville not having anyone else signing up for ball this season. All joking aside, this group of boys (14-15 year old) played together the last two summers and this spring on NK Jr. High team.....and the results are starting to show. "The Bullet" bats lead-off and puts his speed to use running down fly balls in centerfeild. They are a talented team. Fun to watch really talented, dedicated & determined kids play baseball. Go Green !!!! (Did I really just say that ?)

Rich! Were you trying out for BVD commercials? So sweet. You did a good job with the YouTube video, putting 159 & Freelandville on the "map".

I guess Freelandville would rather have not been put on the map with all the excitement they had on Thursday!

Happy Birthday Mikie!

"Christy" and Kathy - welcome to the site! And Phyllis, welcome back to Indiana!

Tom! No HS baseball team in Freelandville? Can't believe it. Two of our boys played thru HS. I miss going to all the games. Trenton played for awhile, but not this summer. He (along with his parents and Gabriel) is moving to Florida this summer. Not good :( (for Grandad & Grannie).

Sympathies & prayers to Leroy and to Alisa.

Does anyone know how to get to the picture that was on here of The Streamliner in Bicknell. I can't find it now and I just wrote to Christy and told her about it. I am a complete "Computer Dummy". Thanks

Richard Finke

Leslie, It is not you. I took it off. Here is a link to the Streamliner. The Streamliner. Just click on the link. I will put all the photos on another page one of these days. The reason I put some photos on a separate web page is because I can make the pictures bigger and hopefully show more detail.

NORMAN, YES IT IS MY OLD HIGH SCHOOL THUG SWEETHEART, BUTCH ERWIN. I RAN INTO HIM IN WASH. IND, WHEN MY MOTHER PAssed away. I did not recognize him at first, til he called me "Christy".Memories, memories.....Thanks for the message...do you remember Mr. Cassidy picking up kleenex from the floor with a clean kleenex? We would sometimes throw them on the floor just to watch him!

Norman,

The last I remember anything about Butch was when he married Linda Roarke and they have a son. for some reason I'm thinking his name is Max. It's kind of weird when you think about the "so called gangs" we had. We had the guys hangin on the street corner with the cigarettes folded in the sleeve of their T-shirts. Some of them had loud cars, but my how the "gangs" have changed over the years. So glad I'm not going to school or have kids in school in these changing time. In fact I'm so glad I grew up with real music as opposed to the sounds you hear today. However, there is that one exception to the sounds today and that would involve my grandson Alex Johnson's band "THE CAB" They are an exceptional group that play music you can enjoy listening to. You can hear there biggest songs by Googling " I'll Run or Bounce" two of my favorites. They had a coupl of songs on the sound track from the movie House Bunny last year. Waiting for the Big Break.

Can someone tell me where in Bicknell the Streamliner was? I cannot picture it and don't believe I was ever in there.

06/09/09 05:01 PM #1048

Leslie Jones (Palcovic)

Rich,
The original Streamlimer was a huge building that sat on the corner of main and whatever the street was where the police department and the Bicknell dailey news was. Behind that building was the cab company that kind of made a circular turnaround on that block. Then they went out of business and later Linda Sebrings parents bought a building on main and little further down the street than the original location and opened the new Streamliner. It was on the same side of the street as The Colonial Theatre but a block down toward the railroad track. It was a little more modernized with pinball machines. But still good food and lots of fun.
