Does anyone know Terry Mason's last name. Pam Williams is trying to find her. I remember she lived in Bakersfield, CA, but I cannot remember her married name. If anyone knows, Pam would like to know, thanks.

Hello? Anyone there? Guess what, peeps. Christmas is only 21 days away. Would anyone like to share a favorite childhood Christmas memory? One year Santa brought a cute cuddly little puppy. It was closed up in a box under the tree and started whimpering during the night. Me and Billy Tim woke up and pestered Dad & Mom to go see, but the rule was we could not get up until everyone was awake. My two teenage brothers slept like logs, so we spent a very restless night waiting....Perky was his name. Mom always cooked huge Christmas morning breakfasts. One time, when everything was on the table (extra table leaves added) and we were all sitting down getting ready to eat, my Uncle Wally (sitting in the middle) simply put his elbow on the table and the thing crashed down in the middle. So funny! Probably not funny to Mom.

A short story from the Miller Clan... We were at the early Christmas morning service at church. There were five of us kids, from 1 yr to 9 yrs old. For some reason, Mom decided to sit in the from row of the balcony with all us kids. (Dad was an usher, so he wasn't with us) Suz, the baby, had received stuffed Pixie & Dixie, the mice, and decided to throw them off the balcony!! Someone caught them at the last second. They were not seen at church again that morning.....Mom was pretty brave just being there with us. I'm sure we were early morning entertainment for the church!!!

Jean and Lu, I enjoyed your stories. If I get to IN in the next couple of weeks, I will scan some old Christmas pictures from some of my mom's albums. Some of my memories from Christmas's in Freelandville are: Pat Grabbe's aluminum tree in the window every year, the lights that use to be strung in Freelandville, the 2 big Christmas trees at Bethel Church, trying to remember my lines for the Children's Christmas program at church, going to early church on Christmas morning, getting together with my grandparents on both the Finke and Parker sides of the family, and on and on.

Dick It looks like you & your family have been busy with the decorating at your home. Very Nice!!!!! No snow yet??? In the Freelandville area, we were lucky? to receive an inch of snow yesterday. It was beautiful! Gone by 10 a.m. Not Bad...Maybe more in the spirit of Christmas now!!

Jean, My son did the outside lights over the Thanksgiving weekend. I am rather Bah Humbug on lights so I am not sure we will have any when my son quits doing them. He did a good job though. We have not had any snow here. Kathy Watson may have had a little. They got some in the NC mountains last weekend.

A request from Dawn Stephens for Bruceville Hilltoppers Memorabilia. If anyone can help, please let me know.
--------------------------------------

Hi,

I have come across your site with hopes that someone would be able to help me find some Bruceville Hilltoppers Memorabilia for my husband. He has been looking for anything Hilltoppers for many years. He truly believes that all roads and relationships can be traced back to someone in Bruceville. At least that has been his experience. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much,

Dawn Stephens, wife of Roger Stephens

Please offer your thoughts and prayers for Joel Land. Joel is one of Mike Land's twin boys. I hope Mike doesn't mind my mentioning this. Joel was involved in a bad motorcycle accident a couple of days ago. I do not know many details. What I know is from Joel's mother on Facebook. He has many broken bones. I think he has a couple of surgeries today. I am sure he has a long recovery ahead of him. I believe Joel is a student at NC State in Raleigh.

This update from Sarah, Joel's mother:

Sarah Weir Makres commented on her status:

"Joel came through surgery today just fine. :) :) :) They put a rod in his
right femur, stabilized his right hip repair, and put an "ex fix" on his
left knee - holding the crushed part of the tibia in place until another
surgery this week or next. He is recovering in the surgical ICU at WakeMed
in Raleigh. He ended up awakening last night and removing his breathing tube
in a panic, but the nursing staff explained to him that he had been in an
accident and that we were all here. When we saw him pre-op today he was very
alert and happy to see us. He has now received a total of 10 units of blood
(!!!!!) and is staying on the ventilator again for a period of time (unknown
to us as of now) so he can rest and heal more comfortably. The trauma team
still has him in a collar until they are absolutely certain that there are
no ligaments injured in his neck/spine area. We are considering having him
transferred to Charlotte for the knee surgery, but it is too soon for us to
make that decision and we need more information about the options provided
at Presbyterian before deciding. I cannot thank everyone enough for all the
well wishes and prayers. God is very, very good. Love, Sarah"

Beware this week if you are in the North Knox area. I am on the loose with my camera. I have learned from visiting IN over the last many years that if I am going to see a classmate, it will probably be in Cabellos in Bicknell. Tonight I ran into Brenda Holmes and Mike DeCoursey. I had a nice chat with each of them. I will post a picture of Mike and me when I get it downloaded. I had a nice talk with Cecil Meeks (class of 72) in Oaktown today while my dad was having his oil changed. Cecil caught me up on a few classmates from our day. He said Leroy Goracke was in TN and Dave Donavan was in CA. I ran into someone who was in our class while in Cecil’s garage. I must have a short memory because I already forgot his name. I did not remember his name from high school, but did take a picture and will ask Cecil tomorrow what the man’s name was again. I drove by Ruth Wesner’s home tonight and the Christmas lights were as nice as always. Wow, lots of work Jim Wesner. I also drove down Happy Street and found that the lights there were also quite nice, as Tom had stated last week. It is way too cold here in IN, but as always I enjoy the visit. I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season.

Richard,
If you were at Cabello's you were one block from my house. Bicknell also has decorations up and we always put up several. So for all you people from Freelandville, you might just come to Bicknell and look around and you might see lights here also. The old football field is all aglow and we live on 10th St. one block behind Cabello's on the corner, blue house, lots of lights. The Bulldogs know how to put up lights also, just joking, but I am going to try and find some Bicknell stuff and stuff from other towns in the NORTH KNOX school area so all towns can be a part of this web site. I am not trying to be rude, just include all the town's that attended NORTH KNOX school. Merry Christmas to everyone in the Class and have a great New Year.
Sandra

Sandra, I saw the lights at the ball field. They were great. I did not know where you lived, but I wish I had known. I am going back to Charlotte tomorrow so might not see the lights at your house but I wish I could.

This is definitely a North Knox web site so please find what ever you can from Bicknell or where ever. My mom grew up on West 4th street so I am half Bicknell. I wish I had some old photos of Bicknell.

You can email Pam Williams by clicking on her name at the bottom of the Classmate Profiles under "Guest Members". I don't know if her name was Harris. It was Williams in high school. Her name is now White. Please email her and let her know Terry's last name.

I avoided Dick's camera lens today in the shop, but check out Facebook for the "covered Wagon" pictures he caught on camera in front of his parent's house.(may post them here also) You never know what will be traveling through town.

I ran into Cindy Peters (LHS '72) at Wal-Mart this Saturday morning. For those of you who don't know Cindy, she was married to our NK classmate Mike Early in the 70's.
She told me that Mike had a heart attack recently. How recently she wasn't sure. She and Mike no longer have any contact and have not had for many years, she did not have details of his health. She did say she understood that the doctor's "brought him back from the brink".....so apparently it was pretty bad.
Mike is living somewhere in Texas. Cindy still has some contact with Mike's family and is going to try to get me his address and info on his health.
