Haven't been on for a few days. I understand that Scott Robbins went in for surgery & passed away on the operating table from an embolism. The area around the screws from a previous back surgery were infected & they were going to place an antibiotic infusion.

Here is the answer of what was produced in the Evansville plant for those not wanting to read the entire article.

The first P-47Ds were actually the same as P-47Cs. Republic could not produce Thunderbolts fast enough at its Farmingdale plant on Long Island, so a new plant was built at Evansville, Indiana. The Evansville plant built a total of 110 P-47Ds, which were completely identical to P-47C-2s. Farmingdale aircraft were identified by the "-RE" suffix after the block number, while Evansville aircraft were given the "-RA" suffix.

I am in IN trying to get my dad back on his feet after left knee replacement. We got him home from the hospital yesterday and he is doing fairly well. I saw Sharon Hobson (Maberto) in the grocery store in Bicknell and we had a nice chat. Randy is at the Edwardsport power plant and I believe Sharon still teaches. Saw Clark Anderson 72 and Regina Page 71 who own the Radio Shack in Bicknell. Then I saw Stan Deweese who filled my dad's prescriptions. I enjoyed talking to them all. I know many of us will have knee replacements in our future over the next 20 years or so. Oh what fun.

Dick......Good to hear you dad is back home, have missed talking to your mom. Hope all continues to go well with recovery & therapy. Guess you have the driveway cleared off so your dad won't have to worry about anyone getting stuck. :)
Oh, by the way, love the vintage wallpaper in the bedroom!!

That was my favorite wall paper Ruth. I had fun shoveling the snow, but only because I don't get to do it much. My mom will eventually get back on her normal appointment. I doubt you can get the stuffed alligators today. My grandparents got that on a trip to Florida in the 60's.

I have been running into all kinds of friends this week while home taking care of my dad. I ran into Sharon Hobson again in the grocery store. I also saw Shirley Hagen (Bright) who works at the "Family Pharmacy" in Bicknell. I told her I had the picture of her 8th grade year cheering for the Dutch. Shirley now lives in Freelandville.

TO LESLIE JONES: Shirley informed me that you were the one that informed her on the reality of whether or not there was a Santa Claus. Way to go Leslie.......

I have to head back to Charlotte tomorrow, but I have enjoyed my week in IN seeing some old friends. I still hope we can all get together sometime as a group.

Happy birthday slightly late to Don, Kelly and Dorothy! (just helping to extend your celebration) Did any of you know way back when that you shared this birth date? Cool.

Does anyone else share a birthday with someone you know? My sister Missy was born on my 10th birthday.

Hi Lu!!

Yes, My mother-in-law, Hilda, and I shared the same birthday. Bill was in deep trouble if he forgot our birthdays. lol!! It was always fun to share our special day, which was always around Thanksgiving! She has been gone for close to 25 years. I can't believe it has been that long!

03/07/10 05:55 PM #1494

Luellen Byrer (Miller)

Oh yeah! I forgot Hilda's birthday was the same as yours, Jean. Poor Bill.

Hey Pat Grabbe! Did you know you and Ann made the front page of the Sun Commercial today? Who goes to Rivet that you were rootin' for? Also saw Mary Ann Miller and Maridell Sargent, and other familiar faces. Wow! what a trip to watch a game. The paper said 259 miles. Sorry the girls didn't win.

PS. Nancy O'Dell shares my birthday, as well as some famous people such as Dustin Hoffman, etc. Garfield the cat shares Derek's birthday, woohoo.

Hey Lu
It is a long way up there, Ann graduated from Rivet so I just tagged along for the weekend. Ann's brother Charlie is the assistant coach. There are a lot of proud alumni at that school, and rightfully so. It was a good time.

Pat, I am impressed with your woodworking skills. I did not know you were into that. Great Job and also enjoyed the picture of you and Collin.

Pat, I agree with Dick, the table & stools are beautiful! You did a great job. If you need someone to make something for, I'm available!! Collin is so cute! Isn't it amazing how fast they are growing! HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO EVERYONE! (WHAT'S LEFT OF IT)

Dick and Jean
Thanks for the compliment, I have been adding woodworking tools to my shop for 30 years. The only thing is finding the time. For example the stools were finished 8 months after the table. I just kept saying I'll get to them as soon as I can. Jean, grandkids are the greatest.

Hey everyone! I have been soooo out of the loop! First of all, Happy Belated Birthday to ALL of the February birthdays and Happy Birthday to all the March birthdays! This winter has been brutal... I think I have gotten between 21/2-3 ft. of snow since 12-18....It was beautiful but way too much with so much cold weather. January and February were a blur to me...Just when things are calming down, Dad falls and breaks his hip...thank goodness, he was in the living room when he fell. He could just as easily been out checking his cattle! His surgery went well but he had a rough day today with dropping blood pressure, blood sugar, Hgb, etc. but he is better this evening. What a tough guy. Rich, Mom showed me the nice letter they got from your parents...they must have been picking up on Dad! I will try to keep up with the website...Back to the snow....I left Rockford Il to get away from this weather! :(
