Tara,  I agree with what Pat said.  I think we all remember when your dad had a motorcycle wreck I believe on the evening of the 4th of July celebration near the ballpark.  He hit his head pretty hard on something and ended up in the hopital in Vincennes for awhile.  It made those of us trying to talk our folks into getting a motorcycle that much tougher to convince.  The link below is from one of the pictures on the home page of our website.  It is the one showing Mrs. Mallery's 4th grade class.  Your dad is in two of the pictures.  The 3rd and 4th pictures from the bottom.  His name is labeled on one of the pictures and on the other he is in the back row, 2nd from the left with the plaid shirt on.  Once again, welcome to the site.

Hey Tara,  I just saw your post.  Phillip was a year ahead of me but what I remember the most about him was he was very shy and quiet.  But looking at your picture I can see some similarity between you and Phillip's sister Carol.  I wish you the best in your quest. Hopefully some of the Freelandville class of 69 will hear about this and they too can become guest members and share some insight with you.  Good Luck

Tara,

If you want to know everything there is to know about your Dad (good & bad), I am your man. I was not is best friend, but he and I had one thing in common.......we were both "Freelandville Dutchmen" ......... and we were all  best of friends. So many stories I could tell you about Phil. I believe most would say that Phillip "never met a stranger" !!

When I go out to the cemetery on Saturday afternoons, I always stop and say hi to Phillip. If there was one thing about Phillip, it was he always was a true friend.......would take the shirt off his back if you needed it.  Very easy going......about as close to a "hippie" as Freelandville had in the late 60's.

If you are interested, we can talk via e-mail. My e-mail at NK 70 is not working very good, so contact me at freelandvilledutchmen@yahoo.com

If I don't get back to you right away, be patient. I work 60 - 70 hours a week.  Sorry to say I will be off work, probably by the end of April for my 3rd back surgery. I will be off for three months. I will try to get back to you immediately, but for sure when I am recovering from my surgery.  Could possibly go up to LInton some Saturday night to Phillip's absolute best friend's house....Doug "Crisco" Walker. We could tell you stories that would have you laughing the entire night long !!!

Not sure just how much you know........are you aware of the motorcycle accident ?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Feel like I  have been run over by a Mack truck, but happy to report back surgery went well Tuesday afternoon. L4/5 disc herniation was larger than mylogram had shown, but expecting 95% chance of success. Awakened in St. Mary's Hospital recovery asking "where is Grump" ?  I was dreaming I was out at Pine Bluffs at cookout at Grump & Brenda's house !
Also, at this time, I would like to announce an addition to our family.
A Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster guitar...................candy apple red with white pearl pickguard.
She is a beautiful little darling. I promise to be  a good "father" to my new "baby"  !

I listened to "What Were Vices are Now Habits" and "Toulouse Street" this morning on Rhapsody.

All really great tunes. I saw the Doobies with REO Speedwagon and Black Oak Arkansas in Bloomington back in 1974. Great show.

Dear Mr. Grabbe:

A certain person, to remain unnamed, told me that you were being mean to me on facebook. I think we need to "nip it - nip it in the bud" !!!!

Jean Ann Miller (Schroeder)

I read that comment from Mr. Grabbe on facebook.  I would have to agree with him!  Sorry Mr. Roark!!!  Keep the comments coming Mr. Grabbe......

WOW!  42 years since our graduation!  The pictures brought back fond memories that seem like it was only yesterday....until you look at hair styles, clothing, shoes, shirt & ties.  I'm sure graduation dress attire will be a little different this year!!    THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
