Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Thanks Margaret for posting our "summer get-together. I have received several emails asking for it to be on a Saturday. We need to get a group together and plan the details. June 26th sounds great. Kitty will be here that weekend. We need to decide on food, etc. Where would ya'll like to meet? If we have as much fun as we did at Tokyo then it will be great. It was awesome all the love that was flowing around those tables. I feel so blessed to be part of this class!
Please get back with me asap so we start our planning.

Carrol Sue,

Thanks. I'm still trying to find my inner self.

Carrol is that anything like hiding Christmas presents?

John, its a WHOLE DIFFERENT ATTITUDE.

@JD Barnett, well, I don't think anyone in the C/O '69 is lurking with malice . . .

I just received this from Kitty Allison Hilton:
Calling all prayer warriors...please get the word out that Cindy Peace Groves daughter, Amanda, is in the hospital with double pneumonia, she is now stable yet not able to breathe on her own & is being transferred to a long care facility for the next 2-4 weeks. Amanda, Cindy, Tom and their family need our prayers. Thank you!

03/20/10 02:21 PM #2718

Marvin Lowman

Carrol, just read the prayer request for Amanda. I've just finished praying for her and the family. I know that prayer warriors have already lifted up Amanda to the Heavenly Father. Don't need to go into details, but God has heard our prayers and is working on her behalf. That is what standing in the gap for someone is all about. We expect to hear a good report from the doctors. Thanks for posting this request.

Gary Vance

Dear Heavenly Father,
We ask You to draw near to Amanda now and breathe Your healing into her lungs. May the mighty wind of Your Spirit fill her with health and let the healing virtue of Jesus flow through out her body. Lord, we pray for a quick recovery for her, that she might be raised up to wholeness and be able to rejoin her family soon. Grant Your wisdom to her physicians and care givers. Lord, please send Your peace that passes understanding to all her loved ones and give each one the comfort and confidence that only You can bring.

In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

No, sorry, Carrol won't be there - she wishes she could be with y'all. Carrol will be working at the 'Salute To First Responders' nearly all day Saturday.

03/23/10 11:19 PM #2723

Lynn Rasberry (Brooks)

Melinda, I plan on attending, but will need to leave by 1 p.m. I look forward to seeing everyone!

Carrol, sorry you can't be there! But, at least no one will be able to "hide" anything from you! Just wondering, is there such a thing as a "stlurker"?

Alice Day (Smith)

Hey friends, I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been traveling sooooooooo much recently. We have chronicled close to 10,000 who have come to Christ since Jan. 2010. Wow, God is doing some amazing new things this year. It's the year of "suddenlies" but "let not your heart be troubled." He is a faithful God, even the middle of change and difficulties.

From the Brazosport Facts, March 16, 2010.

Donor honored for giving of himself

By Katlynn Lanham
The Facts

Published March 16, 2010

LAKE JACKSON — Donating blood has been a passion of Gilbert Bohuslav’s for many years, but since retirement, he has ramped up his efforts, earning him an award from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.

Bohuslav received the Bill T. Teague Chairman of the Year award for his constant work to promote blood drives in the area.

The award includes two round-trip airplane tickets to anywhere in the continental United States.

“I was dumbfounded,” Bohuslav said. Though he knew of his nomination, he never thought he would actually receive the award, he said.

The Bill T. Teague Chairman of the Year Award is named in honor of the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s founding president and CEO, said Cortney Martin, public relations coordinator for the blood center. It’s given to the chairperson who most exemplifies the blood center’s goal of encouraging others to give for life.

Saving lives through blood donation always has been important to Bohuslav.

“I’ve been giving blood all my life,” Bohuslav said. “I felt people needed it.”

Every unit of blood given can save up to three lives, Bohuslav said. The next time the 77-year-old gives blood, he will have given 11 gallons of blood over his lifetime, he said.

Bohuslav has chaired the St. Michael’s Catholic Church/Knights of Columbus Blood Drive for five years, Martin said. He began leading the event when he retired from teaching at Brazosport College, he said.

Seven out of the hundreds of chairmen working with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center were nominated this year, and a panel chose the one most worthy, Martin said. The blood center covers areas as far as College Station and Nacogdoches, she said.

To be nominated and then chosen is a big honor, Martin said.

Though there are many large churches that host blood drives, St. Michael’s Catholic Church excels at bringing in an average of 100 donors to each of its six blood drives a year, with only about 1,200 church members, co-chair Erv Sterzinger said.

Bohuslav talks to the congregation before each blood drive and uses a phone tree to call past donors, he said.

“He’s very enthusiastic,” Sterzinger said. “He’s just really good at it.”

St. Michael’s Catholic Church was nominated as one of the blood center’s churches of the year, Bohuslav said. Though the church did not win, the chairman award is for the whole team that works promote the blood drives, he said.

I was "lurking" through the forum and noticed the plans to get together June 27th. Once again, I will be out of the country and unable to make it. I am looking forward to retiring, I will then be able to attend some of the functions. We are looking forward to making the cruise and hope that more will come onboard.

Stan-
Let us know when you will be in country and we will have something then. We try to get together every couple of months, so any time is good. Same goes for any other classmates that live out of town. Let us know and we can meet for dinner of something.

Kitty Allison (Hilton)

THIS IS A MESSAGE RECEIVED THIS MORNING FROM TOM, CINDY PEACE GROVES' HUSBAND:Amanda is doing much better. She is up and walking and yesterday she did physical therapy and occupational therapy. She is still on oxygen but the doctor says that she should be able to get off of that in the next couple of days. She is very anxious about being in the hospital still. The expected date for her to come home is the 7th or 8th. THIS NEWS IS IN NO SMALL PART DUE TO THE FAITHFUL PRAYERS OF THE CLASS OF 69 PRAYER WARRIORS! THANK YOU FOR JOINING IN PRAYER FOR CINDY & HER FAMILY...PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR AMANDA, CINDY & THEIR FAMILY. I BELIEVE CINDY & TOM COULD USE SOME TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE WHEN TRYING TO COORDINATE THEIR SCHEDULES. IF ANYONE IS CLOSE-BY PLEASE HELP IF YOU'RE AVAILABLE. MUCH LOVE & TEXAS-SIZE HUGS TO MY PRECIOUS CLASSMATES! HOPE TO SEE A BIG BUNCH OF YOU JUNE 26TH!

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Bill (husband) said that anyone coming to the June 26th get-together are welcome to bring their campers and park on our grass farm. And, if you are really an outdoors person....bring your tent. Anyone that would like to make it a weekend, there are great fishing in Sargent and Matagorda (would give Bill one more excuse to go fishing). I live in Cedar Lane on 521. Does anyone remember Peter's Liquor Store on the Brazoria/Matagorda county line? We live 1 mile on the left if you are headed towards Wadsworth. I am about 17 minutes from Lake Jackson or the ones who attended the Christmas party at Jerri's, I'm about 7 minutes. If anyone have suggestions for our party, please let me know. We will be having another meeting in May at my house. (Directions will be posted soon)

Marian, I am gonna try and come down for the summer reunion and do remember well the county line Liquor store. I would like to say Happy Birthday to Karen, Donna Melinda, Lee and all of you early April birhday people! I hope all are doing well and are surviving our glorious economy.
