Mary Bates (Carter) (1969)

I was so saddened to hear of Jerry Poe's passing. Jerry and I started first grade together at Normal Park and were in the same class most years there.  He always had a kind spirit and was loved by all who knew him. The response to this post is a testament to the character of Jerry Poe.  My sincere condolences to his family.

I was so sad to hear of Jerry' Poe's passing...what a great guy...There's a reason he was our class president...he was a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. Prayers for his family

Like all of you, I considered Jerry a great friend. Guy would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. I agree with Jill - the world's a little grayer without him in it. Condolences to his family.

Jerry Poe was a great guy. One of the nicest guys I ever knew.

I have some severly exciting and fun memories of riding with him in his dark blue Impala. Going down Hixson Pike (maybe a little over the speed limit?) past the Heywood straightaway, drifting through the curve that then sent you towards Fernway, tires squealing. Big smile on his face. On mine, too!

I'm glad I knew him.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Jerry Poe and Rogers Moore.  Both were exemplary of the spirit of Chattanooga High School with Jerry in the band and class president in 1969 as well as being very active in all activities and events at school.  Rogers exemplified himself with his speed as a sprinter and was one of the first blacks to integrate Chattanooga High.  I was fortunate to know both of them at the time and the world will miss their presence.

So sorry to hear about the death of Rogers Moore.  He was a key member of our track and cross country teams.  He was always upbeat and quiet but such a competitor!  He ran the smoothest quarter mile you would ever see and went to the state meet as a junior.  He was just the greatest guy to be around.  He and "Rabbit" Daniels always kept us laughing at practice.  Rest in Peace.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Jerry's passing. He was one of the sweetest men that ever lived and so extremely thoughtful. I received a birthday wish from him every year without fail and it was so appreciated it. He was always so upbeat and always offered a smile. He will be greatly missed. RIP Jerry!

This message is in memory of my sister, Lucy Hagan, class of 1964. Today, April 7, 2022, is Lucy's birthday.  She would be 76 years old today.  Lucy passed away in 2019.  She was band captain in 1964 playing the clarinet. She was proud to graduate from Chattanooga High School in 1964, the first graduating class in the new building. She is greatly missed.  Rest In Peace Lucy.
Pat Hagan, CHS '68.

By any chance is there someone out there that would like high school annuals for 1967,1968, & 1969?

Anne Greever (Nolan) (1968)

To: Sharon Hamby Lawson--if you have City High annuals for 1968 I would like to have one--mine was lost many years later, and I did not know how to get another one--how can I reach you, my name is Anne (Greever) Nolan and I was a 1968 graduate--I live in Florida now, but will gladly work it out with you to get another annual-thanks!

Donna Bowman (Koppert) (1970)

Since we are talking about yearbooks again, I lost my 1970 senior yearbook in my house fire many years ago. I would rather have an original yearbook from 1970 if anyone comes across one. Please message me if you find one.
