Michael Arkell August 25, 1946 — October 12, 2023
Michael Gunnar Arkell, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, in Orange County, California, at the age of 77. Born on September 30, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, Mike was the beloved son of William and Betty Arkell.
In his younger years, Mike proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971.
Mike's life was marked by his handsome, dynamic presence and passion for sports. In his youth, he excelled in baseball, but it was golf that captured his heart as an adult. Known for his powerful swing and competitive spirit, Mike achieved a memorable milestone in 2002 with a hole-in-one, a testament to his skill and dedication to the game he loved.
His professional journey was equally dynamic, leading him into a successful career in Sales and Marketing within the aftermarket automobile parts industry. This career path took him across the United States. From Seattle to Chicago, Illinois, to Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and finally to Orange County, California, in 1989. Mike embraced each new opportunity with enthusiasm and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.
In 1992, Mike's life took a joyful turn when he met Kay, the love of his life. Their marriage in 1995 marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they built a life that was a testament to their deep bond and shared values.
Mike leaves behind his children, Michele (Craig), Michael (Jan), Kyle, and Tyler (Stephanie), and his grandchildren Chase, Cole (Nicole), Madison, Blair, and Grace. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Mila, who, sadly, was born just one month before his passing. Mike is also survived by his brother, Bill (Carol), and nephews, Mark and Jeff (Lindsey). His family and friends will forever remember his strength and warmth.
His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.

Very sorry to hear that another classmate has "graduated"! Mike was a really fun member of our class. I remember him as a good athlete and just a good solid guy.

I had Mike on a flight back in 1968 or 69. I was a Flight Attendant and I checking to make sure all bags were properly stored for take off and he was hesitant about putting his bag all the way under the seat in front of him. I recognized him and said Mike Arkell and he immediatelly pushed the bag under the seat. He was traveling with a business partner and I went back after take-off and was talking to him, he couldn't remember my name and I was giving him clues. I finally had to tell him who I was, it was pretty funny. He was such a nice guy!
