DIANE ALEATHEA SMITH, 54 Passed away after a brief struggle with cancer, Friday December 3, 2004 in Dallas. Diane was born in Los Angeles, CA on August 14, 1950 and moved to Houston as a child. She attended Houston Public Schools and graduated from Westchester High School in 1968. She attended Texas Tech and U.T. Austin.
Dallas was Diane's home for the past 25 years. She loved traveling, reading, cooking, being outdoors, and being with her friends and her cats, Tiger and Taffy. Diane worked for many years in various Dallas restaurants in the Oak Lawn area. She will be fondly remembered by the many friends she made along the way.
Diane was preceded in death by her father and mother and sister, Joanne. She is survived by her brother, Barry Smith and wife, Gayle of Austin. Diane donated her remains to the Willed Body Program at U.T. Southwestern Medical School. On Saturday, December 11, a Reception to Celebrate Diane's life will be held at the Melrose Hotel from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Special thanks to the staff at Parkland Hospital for the care given to Diane. Memorials in Diane's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
