Obituary of Ree Ellen Emberg

Ree Ellen Emberg passed peacefully on September 23, 2021 at the age of 64 in her home in Del Mar, California.

She is reunited with her late son, Thomas Gasper and her father, Ronald Emberg.

Beloved daughter to Kay Emberg and Ronald Edward Emberg, her namesake. Loving mother to Ren Nelson, Dixie Mattingly, Thomas Gasper, and Hannah Gasper. Sister to Kelly Emberg and Mike Emberg. Proud grandmother to Derek Woodard, Emory Simoneaux, Oliver Simoneaux, Grayson Mattingly, Maryanne Mattingly, Zacharias Troll, and Joshua Troll. She is also survived by her poodle, Penny.

Ree was born February 17th, 1957 in Houston, Texas. She attended Westchester and Stratford High School in Houston and later University of Houston. At AVR Inc., her father’s company, Ree excelled in accounting for many years. For over a decade, she worked as a real estate agent. Ree will be remembered for the contribution she made to the Recenter program in Houston, Texas in honor of her son. Showing a concern for those in need, she volunteered for meals on wheels and made home cooked meals for the homeless and elderly neighbors.

Ree will be fondly remembered for loving walks on the beach, swimming, reading, writing, and playing board games with her children and grandchildren. Ree had a shy but strong spirit. She was a blessing to everyone she met. Her entire life, Ree fought a courageous battle. Faith in Christ was foundational to who she was.

The family appreciates all prayers and acts of kindness extended to us during this time. Kindly, any donation in memory of Ree to the nonprofit Recenter will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Ree was a delightful friend. We shared Wranglerette's drill team together in high school and stayed in touch for many years after graduation. I wish we had managed to stay in touch longer. We always had fun together and had so much in common. RIP dear Ree.
