Glenda Carol Henckel passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the age of 62. She was a lifelong resident of Houston. Growing up, Glenda was active in Memorial Drive Methodist Church, loved playing softball, bowling, water skiing and fishing on Lake Houston and Lake Travis. She graduated from Westchester High School and attended Southwest Texas State University before beginning her career in sales.
She is survived by her brother Ken and wife Jeanne Henckel, her sister Kim and husband Robert Henkhaus, and sister Tami McCarver; Nephews: Casey, Jake and Taylor Henkhaus, Blake McCarver and Nieces: Lauren Walker, Jamie Henkhaus, and Blair McCarver; Grand Nephew, Logan Kerley and Grand Nieces, Evelyn Kerley, Kamryn Henkhaus, and Hayden Henkhaus. She is also survived by her best friend and companion, "Precious". Her loving friends and neighbors, Loretta and Ron Haren have adopted Precious.
She is predeceased by her parents, Bobbie and Carroll Henckel, and her loving dog Trooper.
We know that Glenda is now able to enjoy all those activities she loved the most....hitting home runs, bowling strikes, water skiing, and catching "trophy" fish in Heaven.
Glenda requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite pet organization (CAPS or SPCA) or the Diabetes Foundation.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 12. Funeral Services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, followed by graveside services and a reception.
