Robert “Bob” Reitz, age 66, beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and colleague passed away at his home on April 22, 2023.
Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 24, 1956, to Lyle and Nancy Reitz where he joined his older brother and sister and was followed by three brothers and two sisters. The family relocated several times, eventually settling in Houston.
Robert graduated from Westchester High School in Houston, Texas - Class of 1974. He went on to earn his BS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University (“give us room”). Soon after, Robert worked at Singer, Bell Helicopter, and eventually Lockheed Martin in 1988. At Lockheed, Robert continued his education and earned an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas – Arlington. In 2005, Robert began working for Barrios. Robert dedicated over 30 years to the success of the engineering and science contracts at Johnson Space Center.
In 1984, Robert met Patty. They married in Eagle Lake, Texas on June 8, 1985. Robert and Patty were married for 28 years and welcomed three children. On May 6, 1987, they welcomed their first son, William (Bobby) Robert Reitz. Two years later, on August 1, 1989, Robert and Patty welcomed their first daughter, Brittany Nicole Reitz. Saving the best for last, Robert and Patty unexpectedly welcomed their third child, Kenneth Allen Reitz, on January 21, 1991.
His family will miss his delicious cooking—his baby back ribs, barbeque chicken, homemade lasagna, and overcooked hams. Robert had a big personality and was unapologetically himself. He had a talent for making everyone around him laugh and feel right at home wherever you were with him. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to the casino, holiday traditions, Texas Aggie football games, and Kroger Wednesday meat specials. Robert adored his two hunting dogs, Lola, and Cash.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Lyle Reitz, stepfather Bruce Satterla, mother Nancy Satterla, and brother Chris Satterla.
Robert is survived by his three children, Bobby Reitz, Brittany Osuna (and her husband, Andy) and Kenny Reitz (and his wife, Amy); five grandchildren, Charlotte, Wyatt, Remi, Leighton, and Harper. Robert is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Mike Wixson, Linda O’Donnell, Diane Wilganowski, Rick Reitz, Dave Satterla, Sammi Satterla, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
