Brenton Wade Blume - Class Of 2012

Brenton Wade Blume

September 23, 1993 - August 2, 2015

US Army Specialist Brenton Wade Blume was welcomed into the world on September 23, 1993 by his parent Greg and Dina Blume in Houston, Texas. At almost 10 pounds he made his presence know. He lived life to the fullest and made the most of his 21 years. He was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on the evening of August 2, 2015 at Ft Hood/Lake Belton. Texas, after a tragic diving accident.

Upon graduation from Westchester Academy - Class of 2012 - he enlisted in the US Army.

As the youngest of 5 children Brent had a passionate spirit to him and could hold his own with his older siblings. He also had a tender and sensitive heart. His siblings affectionately called him "Squirt". He often got blamed for his siblings antics and quickly learned to blame the dog. He was excited when his nephews and niece came along, because there was finally someone younger than him around. He loved being an uncle and his nephews and niece loved him.

Brent was a spunky and creative child. He had a knack for anything technical or mechanical. He could do a Rubik's cube in the blink of any eye. He was always taking things apart and putting them back together, usually better. He took joy in fixing up his 1990 Isuzu Trooper. Whenever there was a technical problem or an issue with a gadget we would say "give it to Brent, he can fix it." Along with his older brothers he developed an affinity for guns and knives. It gave him more things to tinker with.

Animals were a big party of Brent's life. He loved all the family dogs and participated in the Spring Branch ISD FFA where he raised a variety of animals. One of the highlights was participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble. He caught a calf in the Calf Scramble and spent the next year raising his beloved heifer "Money Penny" and showed her at the next Houston Rodeo.

It was no surprise to everyone that Brent joined the Army as a Combat Engineer. The position seemed to combine the things Brent loved. He was especially excited about the opportunity to blow things up. He did one tour in Afghanistan in 2013, where he earned the Army Commendation Medal and Combat Action Badge. Currently stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas, he was in the 937th Clearance Company of the 20th Engineering Battalion of the 36th Engineering Brigade. His commanding officers spoke to us about his charisma he knew how to keep spirits up and morale high in hard times.

While off duty Brent worked with his older brother at Heligunner. He has flown as a safety officer on many hunts and he sat safety in the back for numerous aerial gunnery programs.

He was a lively get-it-done guy and always engaged with people. When he was younger he traveled to Mexico on missions trips, helped men at his church on work projects and quickly adapted and pursued a man's world. His enduring spirit, courage, and never give up persistence grew in every sport, project, or person he shared it with and was contagious. At 15 he ran the Houston Marathon and was a Houston Rodeo Junior Committee man.
Brent genuinely loved his family and friends. He touched so many lives and we are all better off for knowing him. The loss of Brent will forever leave a hole in our lives and our hearts.

I Thessalonians 4:13 & 14 "You may not grieve as the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus."

Survived by his parents Gregory and Dina Duran Blume, Becky Blume Davis, husband, Jared Davis, their children: Will, Luke, Chase, and Ainsley Davis. Brothers Barrett, Benjamin and Brian Blume, Grandparents Chuck Duran and Louise Blume, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
