James Michael Brooks

December 5, 1957 - March 5, 2015

James Michael Brooks, 57, passed away on March 5, 2015 after a struggle with cancer. Jamie, the youngest of three boys, was born in Santa Monica California on December 5, 1957 . He attended schools in Kansas City, Lima, Peru; Luxembourg and London before the family moved to Houston. Jamie went to Spring Forest Jr. High, and Westchester High School, then graduated from Stratford High School in 1975.

Jamie was a favorite of the English department, and an All-District football player. After graduating from Austin College in Sherman, Texas he attended UH Law School. Upon graduation he went to work with his partner, mentor and good friend, Windi Akins Pastorini, practicing criminal law. . Jamie practiced law in Houston for many years and developed a wide range of friends on all sides of the legal community. His subtle humor and calm nature will be sorely missed, both by those who knew him as well as the clients he represented.

Jamie enjoyed various activities: trout fishing in a mountain stream, surf fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, or enjoying the local music scene. Jamie's family would like to thank the legal community for stepping up to help resolve both business and personal issues with grace and sympathy, we are very grateful for this help.

Jamie is survived by his widow Lucy and their son Ryan; his daughter Allison, parents Joan and Bill Brooks; brothers Terry Brooks and wife Marilyn, Neil Brooks and wife Terrell; nieces Kathryn and Christina.

A memorial service is planned at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church on Friday March 13 at 11:00 am. There will be a reception following the service
