I still remember being transfixed watching Steve dance in the stage production in Houston of "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas." I can't even remember the venue! But I do recall the Texas Aggies Song dance number was my favorite that night (It takes a LOT for this UT grad to say that!) and remains so all these decades later. The last time I saw Steve was over lunch and he was brimming with excitement about a play he was writing. It was entitled "The Blue Plate Special" and it was about a quirky diner built over a nuclear waste site in some tiny, dusty Texas town and all the dinner plates glowed a mysterious blue. And thereby hangs the play's storyline of strange goings-on in that little Texas town, the true cause of which the quirky locals could neither explain nor imagine. I've often wondered if he ever finished that play. The world lost a bright, energetic & loving creative genius when Steve was taken from us far too soon....
