Let the memory of Andrea be with us forever.

Andrea Hur MacNeil, age 65, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Andrea was born in Houston, Texas to Kemper Hur and Terry Finke Hur. She attended high school at Westchester High followed by Texas A&M University and the University of Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1977.

After graduation, Andrea poured her heart into varied and exciting work. She joined St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital as a Circulating Operating Room Nurse in the heart surgery practice of Dr. Denton Cooley.

Possessing a natural instinct for care taking and listening, she harnessed her innate nursing talent at work, home and within her community. In fact, when she first met her husband, she declared, “I am a nurse,” though she was actually a flight attendant at the time. But care taking was forever a part of her identity.

After three exciting years of nursing, she moved to a role processing seismic data at Western Geophysical. She later worked amongst the clouds as a Delta Airlines flight attendant and, eventually, Andrea would round out her inspiring career selling pharmaceuticals for Park Davis.

Despite a lively career, Andrea’s true vocation was loving her family.

In 1986, she married her best friend, Donald C. MacNeil in Houston, Texas and brought three devoted daughters, Molly MacNeil Reynolds, Bonnie MacNeil Baum and Katherine MacNeil into the world.

A supporting mother, Andrea raised her daughters to be rooted in kindness, self-confidence and fierce determination. Leading by example, she nurtured and encouraged her daughters to be the best versions of themselves.

Andrea was also an adventurer. Alongside her supportive husband, and with the encouragement of her family, she excelled in physically demanding and competitive sports like sailing, golfing, tennis, Tae Kwon Do and racing in triathlons.

It is true that Andrea never shied away from a thrill, but she also deeply valued quality time with her family. Andrea truly lived her life to the fullest.

Andrea was preceded in death by her father, Kemper Hur, and is survived by her mother, Terry Hur, her husband, Don MacNeil, her three daughters, Molly, Bonnie and Katie as well as her siblings: Russell Hur, Susan Priest and Nancy Powell.
