Cheryl Lea Duke, 61, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017 into the loving arms of her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, after a courageous battle with cancer. She lived the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, "having fought the good fight, having finished the race, having kept the faith."
Born August 2, 1955 in Salinas, Kansas, she was the daughter of Allen Clyde Duke, Sr. and the late Billie Sue Duke. Cheryl graduated from Westchester High School in Houston, Texas in 1974. She worked in banking and lending throughout her career. She most recently worked as a mortgage specialist for the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union.
In addition to her faith and her love of the Lord, Cheryl was very creative and willingly shared her gifts of music, art and photography. She loved the outdoors and hiking, especially at Tremont and Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains. Cheryl was a partner at NorthStar Church and was involved in various Christian ministries throughout her life.
Cheryl is survived by her father Allen Duke (Barbara) of Conroe, Texas; sisters Debbie Baldwin (Billy) of Lufkin, Texas, Sandy Jordan (Stan) of Salisbury, NC, Cathy Whitlock (Barry) of Houston, Texas; brother Allen Duke (Jacqui) of Tomball, Texas; several nieces and nephews, including Ashley Jones (David) of Knoxville, Tennessee. Special friends included her small group from NorthStar and her work family from TVA.
A memorial service and a reception celebrating the life of Cheryl were held at NorthStar Church West Knoxville, 9929 Sherrill Blvd. on Saturday, June 17 at 2:00.
